Wow, how old is Stellaris exactly? That first screenshot looks like it's from 1990s but has EU4 elements. Can we get a few more? I like looking at how games evolve.

Probably they just threw some quick graphics together to get the game running in some form. I wouldn't think too much on it.
On the other hand, it seems like they may have considered more streamlined planet management early on.

also, save for the WIP graphics from EU 4 in that old screenshot, I WANT THAT UI! it may be just because everything is currently a shade of faint green currently but that blue and window/header layout!
