one is democratic, one is communist ;)
podcat, is there anyway to get your artists to put in two Japanese Admirals -

Admiral Nagumo

Admiral Yamaguchi

It seems really crazy to me to have Japan not have these admirals for the war. It was pointed out to me that they are advisors in game, but these were the guys that lost the battle of Midway - Yamaguchi lost his life there. They commanded the First Air Fleet, which was critically important for Japan's starting war strategy.

You realise they are almost all, if not all, changes made to 1.4.1 while it was still in open beta? I am familiar with these changes. They released an update to the beta on the 26th of June. I am familiar with these changes as well. I want to know if they made any changes after said update, as these are not separately listed.

Axe99 has beaten me to it with the link. The key word was second post, but never mind. Hope you have fun playing the patch!

EDIT: Apologies, you already cleared up the confusion.

When are you going to make it so that Hungary has a chance to use the claims that it gets? Currently the only way to actually use the claims is to switch to being fascist

Apologies again, @Ksyr (and @Axe99). As you rightly point out, twins are always a bit confusing....

BTW, who exactly is your avatarial icon? Admiral (Andrew) Cunningham???

A lot of great fixes there Podcat, a big thanks to you and the team for all the hard work squaring that away before the break :D. Also thanks for the "fixes since the last beta update" post :). Am looking forward to giving 1.4.1-final a good shake later today. Here's hoping you all have a good last day or two, a great break and looking forward to seeing what you've got planned for the second half of the year .

Who hoo I'm a celebrity lookalike now :) @Axe99

You've got that all wrong, I'm the celebrity look-alike :).

It's Bruce Fraser, who I'm rather partial too (and not alone in that). I'm not trying to confuse though, I could check of Henry Harwood was about and change to him if that would help? :).

And you STILL haven't fixed submarines. Imagine my shock.

Given the devs made it quite clear there would be little to no changes to the naval game, and that 1.4.1 was focussed on land (AI) and air (UI and AI), this is to be expected. They can only work on so much at once, and what they have achieved is considerable. I totally sympathise with wanting more love for the naval game, but we have to be patient. Rest assured, when naval gets its turn, there'll be land and air people complaining about stuff there not getting fixed :).

Also some more Hungarian (and Romanian) generals would be nice!

I agree, more over time will be even better, I'm sure we will get a little trickle over time, the Paradox art department has been pretty fantastic so far (aside from the odd anachronistic uniform or using portraits from 1919 for a person in 1936 :p)

And to think that in HoI 2 there was actually an event chain that would see the transition from dictatorship to democracy under the three presidents who presided it... and now we don't even get a correct portrait. :(

As a person from a culture who's country has also gotten the short end of the stick with DoD I empathise with your woe :(. Little things like the Uruguay transition would be a lovely little flavor to a corner of the world, plus I know so little about it (i.e. nothing) it would be awesome to learn about, its why I love historical games. Mind you, I am apparently one of those hated freaks who enjoys playing minors not just the majors all the time :p

Considering the first Hungarian Republic also refused to give up its claims and collapsed partly because of Trianon, and the Hungarian Soviets fought tooth and nail to hold onto under Kun, Hungarian territorial revision would be better as a separate tree and not stuck with JUST with ideology :)

I notice the spanish civil war recovery effect is hopefully fixed a bit now, @podcat have you put any thought to how to solve the "Spain has 1 trillion divisions in 1942" phenomenon? After the 1.4 buff I really noticed this a lot.

While I appreciate very much the pretty portraits. The Portrait of Hristo Lukov as a Leader of fascist fairy tale state of Legionairs Bulgaria saddens me - I know this name (Legionairs Bulgaria) is supposed to have something in common with military youth organisation in Bulgaria, but that is the same if you call the third Reich - Hitler Youth Germany. The whole thing deepens further my disapointment in how Balkan politics and how neutral authoritarian and monarchist countries are handled in HOI IV. Politics is not to be approached overly simplistic otherwise the base game turns into a joke.
You should have used hristo Lukov as an advisor (wich he actually was) or even a general (wich he also was). As far as fascist leader - it was not possible because Tsar Boris III surrounded himself with some Germany-loving and fascist leaning people in order to pursue closer relations with Germany and none of the fascists wanted or ever dreamt of ousting him to take power from him, since they were among others part of his circle of influence and he had wide popular support.

I have a feeling that someone has probably already asked this, but is this update savegame-compatible with the 1.4.1 beta patch?

Would it be possible to change the ship variant mechanic to a more immersive one. Like instead of upgrading the fire power of a battleship by the current mechanic, let the player choose between diferent types of gun, like between 45-calibre BL 12-inch Mark X gun and 50-calibre BL 12-inch (305 mm) Mark XI gun?

Thanks for that. I mean it. :) Sometimes some words of comfort go a long way in assuaging one's anxiety.

Here's hoping it turns out better for yours as well! :)

Did you see Axe99's post in the previous beta-patch thread that you posted in? His first look at the problem suggested that the AI makes good fleets but doesn't re-arrange them effectively when they take losses. If confirmed, that sounds like a horribly complex problem for the AI programmers to get stuck into. Rumour has it that the next patch will deal with the naval problems; I hope that's true.

Yes, i have read his post. Well the AI loses much Power, when it uses such small units. if the AI would make bigger Fleets with at least 10-20 Untits (for Mayor Nations), a human Player couldnt fight against the AI so easily. This wasnt so much a Problem in the past, where the AI had often big fleets. The Problem is somehow new, as i do handoff games and watch them since HoI3. When you now play as Germany, and combine your full small Fleet, you will kill the Royal Navy after some months, because you fight against fleets with usually 2-3 ships. In 1.3. or before, i lost often many ships of my german Navy when i met a big french or british Fleet in the North Sea.

probably, although we can never promise. going from 1.4 seems there is a thing where you lose design companies, but suspect 1.4.1 works
