"Back in Black", the seventh free update for Steel Division: Normandy 44, is now available! It features 6 new units to deploy on the battlefield (read the full article about them here), as well as the 2v2 versions of the new Attack/Defense scenarios, balancing, and new features & fixes.

Here’s the complete changelog:

SIX NEW UNITS:
  • 2 infantry units:
    • Volontaires (2e DB)
    • Ox & Bucks (6th Airborne)
  • 2 vehicles:
    • Sherman IC Firefly (1. Pancerna)
    • 10,5cm leFH18 ausf Lorraine (21. Panzer)
  • 1 artillery gun:
    • leFH 18M (716. Infanterie)
  • 1 plane:
    • F-6C (3rd Armored)

BREAKTHROUGH SCENARIOS:
  • Cheux and Colombelles maps are now playable in 2v2 games.
  • Fixed a bug preventing to save Breakthrough solo games.
  • In games versus AI: destruction points to reach by the defenders have been changed to fit AI level
  • Improved AI in Breakthrough games: it now has a more complex attacking or defending behavior

BREAKTHROUGH BALANCING:
  • Moved long-range artillery (except mortars and MLRS) from phase A to phase B for the Attacker
    Existing player's decks are still valid but will be automatically modified

IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Loading a quicksave (F8) now displays the save menu
  • In the Battlegroup lists, a filter allows players to display only "classic" or Breakthrough decks
FIXES:
  • “FX quality” is now correctly set on insane graphics preset (Game needs to be restarted)
  • Fixed some lag and speed problems while observing 10vs10 games
  • Fixed some rare desynchronizations
  • Fixed some rare crashes

UNITS BALANCING:
Global
  • Unified Sherman gun accuracy and AP (5acc, 11AP)
  • Renamed all Allied Firefly by "Firefly Vc" because of the new polish "Firefly Ic" (free new unit)

3rd Armored Division
  • Added packs of 6 veteran Sherman 75 in phase C

4th Armored Division
  • Increased Hellcat price from 100 to 110
  • Increased M4 (75) Abrams price from 130 to 145
  • Increased B-26B-10 Marauder price from 120 to 130

2nd Infantry Division
  • Reduced Sherman DD XP by one step in phase A

Guard Armored:
  • Increased Tempest fighters XP by one step

1st Special Service Brigade
  • Increased Sherman DD price from 110 to 125

21. Panzer
  • Moved PzH39 to support tab as direct fire unit
  • Increased PzH39 frontal armor from 3 to 4
  • Replaced PzH39 by 105mm Lorraine in its role
  • Reduced Brummbar FAV from 14 to 12
  • Reduced Brummbar gun accuracy from 5 to 3
  • Reduced Brummbar gun power to match other 150m gun
  • Changed Brummbar availability (1x1 in A, 2x2 in B)

16. Luftwaffe Feld Division
  • Reduced 88mm flak veterancy by one step in phase A
  • Regrouped Bef Stug in a single pack of 2 in phase C

It has suddenly dawned on me that this update was named before the death of AC/DC guitarist Malcolm Young earlier this week. 'Back in Black' was the name of AC/DC's comeback album after the death of their singer Bon Scott in 1980. Weird!

Anyway, thanks for the update, looking forward to trying out the new stuff, especially the Ox & Bucks!

Those are documented actually. :)

The PzH 39 was repurposed as an assault gun and moved from ART to SUPP. It is basically a new unit despite using a previous model.

B-26 Marauder for 4AD costs 130 now.
You are right about that one though.

Any chance the next update is gonna be a divisional dlc or is it just gonna be co-op battles?
Btw I know divisions like 1st infantry US is pretty much the same as 2nd infantry we have in game but still I believe that more divisions available in game would have a lot more fun even their differences are just available units in phases and income.

Well we just had new decks units and modes recently, new maps would bring a lot.

That's it?! What the hell! You've done literally nothing that would stop a crazy light tank/halftrack rush. Unless there are undocumented changes, thanks for the letdown Eugen

Update: I just checked. No balance changes. Nothing. Nothing except the artillery change, which admittedly is okay. But still MLR in A? What the hell? Look real real close at this picture Eugen. Do you see this deck? I will spawn most of the Luchs, most of the P1s, the flamers, and some halftrack infantry. No matter what you do, you will not stop this rush UNLESS you know exactly which road it is coming down ahead of time. Thank you for not listening. Every player that gets crushed by this rush will appreciate it.

...Breakthrough balance? Can not see any balancing changes. Except Merderet, two even players and the attacker will still "always" win. No extra slots for AT (defender) so you still have to compromize as a defender and because there are no mines in this game the defender still has no worthy alternative, which would have been possibility for Panzerschreck and Bazooka-team spam. More Panzerschreks or Bazoka-team still means less necessary SP-AT or AT-guns, reduced XP for Sherman DD 2 Inf...the only thing that had a small chance to stop Axis-divisions main assualt direction in phase A and B? The arty change might balance the mode slightly. I'll try it, but my feeling is that this actually did not balanced any thing. Hope I am wrong.
 
Weird change. I mean, I get it, but I probably would've split the difference and made it 5acc 10ap.

Why is it weird? It's weird it wasn't that way from the beginning. There is no reason why tanks all with the same gun, ammo and optics should have different accuracy and penetration values.

4 acc was ANEMIC vs other vehicles past phase a. Sherman has no value if it can't ever land the first shot. I've gotten to a point where i would just buy 105 Sherman's instead with some 76s. The 75 werent going to kill any tanks anyway...
 
Thanks for 2v2 Breakthough.

Only thing I'd like added to MP is the ability to make MP Scenarios/Breakthough private as while setting up a 2v2 PvE coop match, other players would join (while we were setting up our battlegroups or chatting in the lobby) and I'd have to ask them to leave or kick them.

Between two discussions of balance, just a message to say people encounter crashes in 10vs10 (with diagnostics, i guess you receive them directly) since the patch. I had one in my last games just before the patch and just had one in my first game since the patch. I've heard people having more than one tonight. I hope you are aware of these issues.

It's a crash of the whole game, every player of a 10vs10 is thrown out and the games crashes for everybody.
