I am happy when I see people commenting, so I know that they are reading and enjoying it :)
Which is why I comment.

In the above update gives me the image from the film Gladiator of Maximus riding into battle screaming "Hold the line"

Desperate measures have been taken - one feels days even more desperate lie ahead.

Time to do the Dance Macabre I think. Anyone got a fiddle?

Well I think that you will like the new update than :p

Well, you know I am another doing that. :)

An exciting, action-packed chapter! It is often just as interesting and even more compelling to write about a desperate defence against the odds than a steamrolling victory! Hungary is putting up a gallant fight - but on the water, it will be the British Navy’s carriers (as well as greater numbers) that will cause you grief. And beware air attacks when your vessels are in port if the Allies are in range!

Looking forward to seeing how long you can hold out for. Is Japan still doing well in the Far East?

Indeed it does, for playing only 1 month it took me quite some time, since I am trying to do my best to prevent the Soviets to enter the homeland!

What a reversal. Instead of German units bolstering Hungarian positions...they are seeking refuge.:)

Hold that river-line!;)

It is kinda funny but also sad at the same moment. The Hunarian soldiers will do their best as always!
You know like the Soviets feared a bit SS units because of their recklessness and their fighting spirits? I think that in this game they must be afraid of Hungarian soldiers since they are the one who pushed the furthest, not to mention the Royal Hungarian Navy! :p

I pulled out for good, and for now there were no air raids on my port of Split :)
I will do my best. I am afraid that not anymore, they even lost some territories on the front with SU.

How did Hungary became great (again)!
A bonus post to sum up all of the successes!
The homeland!
In 1936 Hungary was in an economic crisis. With the economic reforms that Horthy applied the unemployment rate wad decreased rapidly. Though the arms race could lead only to one thing, to WAR!
oua4ps.jpg

In the upcoming years Hungary increase in size by 3-5 times, subduing Austria took only a couple of days, while Yugoslavia fought back for 50 days! And by "mistake" we also took Albania, which offered no resistance. And even some Northern Greek provinces, when we were forced to join the Axis. Most of former Hungarian territories were absorbed either by ourselves or by the Triple alliance, which fielded an army of 540 k soldiers!

The army!

The Royal Hungarian army in 1936 was able to field only 84 k soldiers and nothing else. But due to Horthy decision to rearm the armed forces it went from 28 Regiments or 8-10 division to an army of over 330 k. Which is 4x more than from the year 1936. Our army corpse can work as individual, while the tank corp is being deployed tactically, so that we could break through and encircle the enemy units. But now as the situation is grim, it is being used as the last line of defense.

HQ Budapest:
-I. Army Corps
-II. Army Corps
-III. Army Corps
-IV. Army Corps
-V. Army Corps
-I. Tank Corps

Each Army Corps consist of:
-3xINF+ART
-3xINF+ART
-3xINF+ART
-3xINF+AT
-3xINF+AT

While the I. Tank Corps:
- Arm+2x MOT. INF.+TD
- Arm+2x MOT. INF.+TD
-L. Arm+2x MOT. INF.+TD
-2x L. Arm

The south push was performed by the Hungarian Royal Army!

Holding tight against the Soviet hordes!

Our soldiers are battle hardened veterans that are feared and respected by the Soviets! But not only the Army, the Navy is feared even more!

The navy!

After 20 years the Admiral got back on a ship as a captain. Though small in size, Hungary produced 2 battleships, 5 light cruisers and 5 destroyers. They fought bravely in the Black sea where they managed to destroy 2 Soviet BBs, 4 CAs, 6 DDs and 1 TP and many cargo ships, by the loss of 3 CL and 3 DD. In the beginning the navy was outnumbered and outclassed, but after the addition of MKH László and MKH Szent István.

Fellow followers and commentatAARs, I am sorry that I have not put up any new update but I am busy now as the exam period has started last week for me. Here I made a short sum up of how Hungary became great (again) :p Hope you enjoyed it, anyway, you should get normal updates in 2 weeks! :)

Thank you and thank you again! :p

You have made Hungary great again, and now the Mongols stands at the gates again like 700 years ago (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mongol_invasion_of_Europe#Invasion_of_the_Kingdom_of_Hungary)
Haha, history has a tendency to repeat right. :)

Since it seems that the Wehrmacht forces are protecting Romania better than the Homeland, the Hungarian units are pulled off to strengthen the Slovakian border

It is clear that the German push from Romania has taken the Soviets by surprise, but they are firmly advancing towards Berlin, which is worrying news to Hungary.

Never the less the soldiers have good morale as you can see from a scout units of the 1. Tank Division

A truly desperate fight. In this timeline no one can call the Hungarians push-overs. They are contesting every inch of ground.

Indeed it is. I would say that in this timeline the Hungarians are one of the best, if not the best soldiers.

The front is getting dangerously close to Berlin, consider reinforcing north Germany ...
I know, I may try to send an army corps as the front will shorten for me, but overall I think that it is just a matter of time before Europe will fall. I can´t do much with my 300 k soldiers versus the Red Army. But I will do my best to protect Hungary! :)

The counter-offensive in Romania is about the best thing that could happen from Hungary’s perspective. It buys you time at least. Germany is ultimately doomed, with your best bet to last as long as you can and see if you can set up an ‘inner core’ defensive position it will be tough for the Soviets to break.

No sign of an Allied invasion of Europe yet? If they do, you could always try to last until they reach you and Hungary at least doesn’t fall behind the Iron Curtain.

18. Chapter: The beginning of the end
November 1945 - January 1946

Horthy ordered the Royal Hungarian Army to help the German allies

Meanwhile the Italian offensive in the near-East crumbled

On the 19th of November Henneyey fears came true, the OKW officially anounced that the war is lost. OKH Berlin tried to stop the offensive in Romania/Ukrain but OKH Kyiev did not listen. Generals started to take decisions of their own, there was no united command. The Red Army was getting closer and closer to Berlin, the German defense of Germany was falling down like dominoes.

As a consequence of that, Horthy ordered the creation of Austria and Yugoslavia, so that those people could stand a better chance, as they were "forced" into Hungary.

A part of Horthy speech to the Royal Hungarian Army
"..now you are not fighting for the Great Hungary or for me, now you are fighting for yourselves, for your families and beloved ones. I will not say that things look good as they don´t, but if you do your best can hold the lines and stop the Bolsheviks from...."

Things do not look good.

I do not doubt they will get worse.

Great to see you picking up the story again, it’s important to see the story through to the end - a finished AAR is something to be proud of. :) And Hungary itself has put up a very good fight - those Germans proved unreliable allies.

But compared to OTL, the resistance has gone on a lot longer and Hungary and its now client states are still largely intact. Has there been any Allied movement in the West?
