Each one is a completely separate storyline with its own missions and rewards. I'm pleased with all of them, though I suspect the Steiner one is the hardest of them, because they ask you to do a scouting mission in Assaults ;)
Well, that is easy - just use Chargers :)... oh wait, you don't have then in the game, bugger :(.

OK now I am totally freakin psyched!

Is not it a weakness in the idea of letting the player shopping in faction stores only in alliance? It means that player choosed to be in alliance with Davion will literary never get access to Liao's shop on the particular game. So what you going to do is actually making a major portion of new content not avaliable to each player.

They mentioned we can break alliances at will. This means we can do a Wolf's Dragoons style tour and have to rep up the next faction after breaking our last alliance.

On a related note I do hope that the Super Hard Flashpoints from allies are all quite individual. That way we can have fun messing with each other pointing out how the [Lyran Commonwealth] flashpoint totally sucks and the only superior flashpoint is the [Free Worlds League's] flashpoint! nyeahhh, nyeahh!:p

Just went ahead and fixed those typos for you.

You're welcome. :p

They are in the old House Books IIRC

OK I was wrong and now I want mine! Where?

I got lucky on a search for Marik propaganda posters on Google images. I'd still love to find the actual source, but that's still eluding me.

And of course there is always...

will my rep with a particular House affect the loyalty of any mechwarriors i hire? say i hire a native Capellan mechwarrior, and i regularly take on missions with the Fed Suns against Liao...will my hired Capellan mechwarrior mutiny and leave my merc company?

Oh, excellent question. I sure hope it does. Adds an extra layer of depth to our Mercs.

Which reminds me, I hope the Merc Descriptors have a much greater impact on the game in 1.3/Flashpoints.

I agree that merc backgrounds having greater impact on gameplay would be cool. As well as the player character's background. I know it's already been said that choosing a particular faction as your background won't affect your rep with them, but it would be nice if there would be SOME effect along those lines.

As much as I find this both amusing and exciting (As I know your record in writing enjoyable stories) I'm not looking forward to this particular Flashpoint.
Because
  1. I find Steiner/Kurita based missions/alliances in the Rimward Periphery a bit silly in itself. It's quite literally the other end of known space. I'd rather have seen major alliance Flashpoints for the Concordat and the Magistracy.
  2. It basically confirmes my worst fears about tonnage requirements. Guess that's going to be something I need to mod away.

ya i honestly dont see how Steiner and Kurita will be viable as an alliance unless the devs add some territory for them.

Simply by tweaking the weights of who is offering contracts in Marik and Davion space respectively, they could make it much easier to gain influence without suddenly having battalions of Steiner or Kurita forces appear where they shouldn't be. Now fighting against those forces should not be happening out here. But the other factions they antagonize have local enemies as well so that's not something HBS would need to worry about yet. I'd guess the Steiner and Kurita flashpoints would be the hardest two given Kiva's comments about the Steiner one and the general rarity of those factions influence in this area.

This is an interesting point. Without access to Steiner or Kuritan space, how would we access their special Quartermaster shops? Normally all shops are accessed in system and the shop is automatically controlled by which ever faction space you are in.

...As an ally, the contract system no longer offers you missions that target your allied House, and your reputation with them can never fall below zero. They also give you access to special quartermaster shops that contain high-end equipment and rare ‘Mech parts. At the same time, you’ll formally become Enemies with the factions that hate your new allies, and your reputation with them will be reduced to zero -- and it can never rise above zero...
