I recently built my very first Colossus since Apocalypse came out (because I don't have the patience for sustained campaigns) and had it armed with a Neutron Sweep. I quickly received a suggestion from a friend that I test it on them (i.e. on Earth). After releasing the UNE from vassalage and declaring war on them (I had to cheat to bypass the truce timer), I finished my test fire and admired the devastation I had caused...

...only to realize the Neutron Sweep works too well.

So adminstering 60 planets got to be a chore, so I decided to let sector AI take over for some of my newer planets.

Unitl they build hydroponic farms on a planet with plenty of available farmland, while my food stores are literally filled to bursting.

I think that's been in the game for quite a while now, there are other easter egg names too like Blondie if I'm not mistaken, Belgium, I've seen Aulderaan too, etc. Hawking was added too after he died.

It had been added in the patch directly after the incident, like a week later. Still makes me chuckle everytime I see it.
Cknoor, Blorg's Bane and Arrakis are other examples.

Hmm, looks completely barren. It was a shielded world that spawned a flock of void clouds.

It reminds me about sci-fi story, where Earth gets "probe drones bombardment" and govenments decide to hide every sign of human activity and make planet look like Mars. Spec-ops teams destroy every new drone, hiding it as a malfunction - but senders are getting more and more curious about such a "cursed planet". And send more and more machines. making it more tough, reliable.

Believe it or not that's intentional: the AI actually tries to solve shortages with buildings instead of districts to avoid the "empire sprawl" penalty. It's part of why the AI kinda sucks ATM.

That makes me feel better about taking the effort to micro each planet, knowing the efforts put into it is worth it in the end.
