Ah, but then you'll have arguments over just how chaste and pious this or that guy is. Imagine the random culture wars of what the people living wherever should be, and multiply that to the personal level.

That's why the developers will be the final judges. The idea is to give them inspiration and point them to sources, not to determine by mob rule what the stats should be. This saves them time.

But then you'll have people not only angry that their favorite figure isn't as great and glorious, but that the dev team ignored them when they said the character must be great and glorious.

Oh, and they will be angry that their proposal was heard, as opposed to not being heard? I'm not convinced.

In any event, people unhappy about XYZ is nothing new. I'm sure the developers will somehow find the resolve to push on.

We are not going to start putting in traits for everyone and their mother. If people feel strongly that a character need a specific set of stats or traits, they are free to mod it in themselves.

I was not envisioning traits for everyone and their dog. What you said earlier suggested that the main bottleneck for you was time and energy. I was suggesting one way to get around this bottleneck.

Is there any plans to make a special nordic/non latin republic system, like the Thing system that existed in Gotland and iceland during this period? Sortof a five Godi families which run a very decentralised state where once a year a thing happens where you can use your diplomacy to try and get you enemies declared nidings and banished, maybe with a special blood feud system where two families are permanently locked in rivalry/rading on another? Like a republic which is decentralised and cannot be centralised but has an extremely powerful event which happens automaticly once a year.

Basicly, i want to play the icelandic sagas, with their long bloodfeuds and yearly Things where pretty hefty laws and justice would be dispensed.

will there be some sort of event for shattering the bulgarian empire and reverting it's dejure to non 936 status quo?

In Kyivan Rus will Slavic Igor Staryy Ryurikovich or Scandinavian Ingvar Rurikid?

We were told he starts as Germanic pagan and Norse, but has a special decision available that changes him to Slavic Pagan and Russian so if you play him it's your choice which you'd prefer to be. The AI will always use the decision.

Don't worry. I like random Traits. sometimes your chosen ruler is a nut. Other times, he's a god...
