This update really looks like it'll flesh out some things which'll be nice! However, I really think that you guys should continue to update the court and courtiers, such as adding in if you lose all your land and kingdom to a usurper, you could flee with your family to a kingdom who's either ruled by someone that likes you or dislikes the usurper. You could become a courtier and attempt to gather support to regain your throne. You could have a bunch of unique events and plus this would, in my opinion, add a whole new layer to the game that could make it ten times more fun. In fact, there was a mod for this on the steam workshop, but it's outdated now and it was glitchy, but if you guys were to do I'm sure it would turn out amazing and become a worthwhile feature.
Yeah ok I see what you're saying. It would create a few issues, so it might not be worth it.I used to think this exactly would improve the game, but the more I think about it...there might be a real problem of not having enough to *do* if you don't hold any counties. There'd have to be a lot of events added to make it work, and even then it'd risk shifting the focus of the game as you could just sort of chill not being a ruler for ages. And if a bunch of events were added, it could either slow down the game given how many characters would be using them, or make things really chaotic as all your courtiers try and become rulers. (The alternative, making it player-only, feels a bit unfair.)
Sadly, not for the Iron Century update. I don't know if there's anything planned for later.
I had expected to see more bloodlines, since last post, the bloodlines icon was showing for Bloodaxe and Gorm the old. Did they have bloodlines in the dev build that have since been deleted, or was it just a UI bug from using Observer mode or something?
How will this affected timed events like the Black Death, the Mongol Invasion and the Turkic invaders?
Also what about the timing for the Crusades?
During this time frame yes but it's not clear if they stuck to it while they were declining AFAIK.Were they historically?
Wow, and here I was just about to start editing the base map for my the Dawn of Civilization mod, thank god I waited to do all the map updates !
Once again well done PDX for all the hard work.
Being a courtier and politicking your way to rulership would indeed be pretty boring without a ton of events being added. However I think being an adventuring raider would be really fun. The AI already does it with all the fucking adventuring raiders showing up every fucking week on my borders. I like the idea of going around the world with my warband/horde, pillaging and burning down cities.I used to think this exactly would improve the game, but the more I think about it...there might be a real problem of not having enough to *do* if you don't hold any counties. There'd have to be a lot of events added to make it work, and even then it'd risk shifting the focus of the game as you could just sort of chill not being a ruler for ages.
