This game is overall great and brings out the Mechfeeling i wished for.
2 things are not in my favour, COOP only with friends no servers at all :( noone of my friends play MW and the synchronization fro some poeple are a little bit flat.

I was having the exact same issue, i could not Co-op with anyone. I got my Co-op Issue sorted by allowing the epic game store through my Firewall by adding an exception. To get to the correct path for the exception was a bit of a search so ill help you out.

<drive>\<Program files>\Epic Games\Launcher\Portal\Binaries\Win64\<Launcher .exe>

Add that to your firewall exception list and allow it and If its the same issue as me, should be sorted.

Is it bad luck or the salvage system is bonkers? Even with max salvage rights I can´t salvage chassis. WTF? In one mission I got 6 salvage (max points by negotiation) and I couldn´t recover a Spider which was 7...

Also does it make any difference if I care to headshot? Will I get chassis from such kills ALWAYS?

When you headshot you get a not completly destroyed light Mech that costs you 2 Month and 500k to repair, it will be ready in a few days and only cost a few $.
Salvage will get better when your reputation goes up, do a few missions and you will get enough Reputation that you can get enough salvage in negotiations for a Mech. But it also depends on the mission, some missions don't net you any mechs even with maxed negotiation points for salvage. I think that depends on the difficulty of the missions and the reputation lvl of the Warzone somehow, because the ones that didn't give me a Mech with max. Salvage were all on the lower end of difficulty.

But there still is the issue of salvage limit. Is it even possible to get TWO mechs from salvage rights? Naturally not talking about trash like the Locust which is ALREADY obsolete at game start.

The gameplay itself so far I love, it feels like Mechwarrior, the mechs and weapons to me feel meaty. Not so keen on the repair system or salvage system at all though. It shouldn't matter if you're in a conflict zone, that shouldn't add a ton of cost and time to repairs, it makes it the sim backdrop somewhat tedious feeling. Also how the salvage system is set up it makes it extremely difficult early on here to actually get going. Hoping that gets better.

Dunno, while I do agree that lasers shouldn´t shake a mech, the effects of autocannons feels underwhelming.

Also good thing they gave you a Centurion because early game can be hell. No way I´m going to do those 2 part missions until I have a full medium lance.

One thing that caught my attention was that some missions are pretty close to war crime territory. Got one mission where the objective was to destroy... water supplies.

No. Just no.

And all those little vehicles on BATTLETECH roadways and streets are abandoned... and all those buildings too.

But then kudos to BATTLETECH for those FLASHPOINTS that specifically included Human Shields and Civilians on... well, “Under” the Battlefield in those tunnels.

This ain’t Candy Crush, BATTLETECH and MW5 are Wargames, with abstractions of War’s realities.

And for some that might be objectionable. I understand that.

I sometimes wonder if an impediment to HBS’s inclusion of Infantry was the visual of Mechs stepping on humans... what do you think?

Damn, after playing HBS:BT for so long, I'm really no longer used to taking internal damage and repairing stuff, replacing armor... :D

My Centurion has the tendency to lose it's AC10 every other mission. Maybe I'll take the new BJ-1 I just scored onto the next mission, do some sniping and let the AI brawl.

Could be. Coming from germany, I'm used to having games released in german language heavily censored in terms of violence for decades (like even having robots instead of soldiers in half life and stuff) for exactly that sort of reason. Never bothered me too much either way, but I didn't really see the need.

But thing is, the mission was versus civilians.

There is also ANOTHER mission about harming farmers. So very questionable mission design, quite often.

Burning infantry with flamers is war. So I´m not that against it. It´s not like artillery makes prettier corpses does it?

There was a patch today, what is in it?

I lost my 3 pip Burst fire from rare sell. It made me MAD

There is no reason not to use burst versions.

My first impressions have been mixed. The first day was frustrating. It took me a while to get my footing and felt like I made no progress the first day (several hours and 300 game days in with the same starter lance). The second pilot you get as part of the story died when his Jenner got cored. I didn't even know he was damaged. Damage alerts in general are poor.

Second day I started by getting new pilots and buying an Urbanmech. I gave the Centurion to a lancemate and piloted the Urbie since I didn't want to leave it behind by piloting a faster mech. It actually ended up being a lot of fun. My lancemates actually did a good job fighting off enemies with me firing AC/10 shells into the fight when I could. The AI has some pathing issues with cliffs, but does decently. There are always a lot of vehicles, but most of them die quickly. I find it is actually better to prioritize vehicles because they can do good damage, but are easy to destroy. Mechs take some work to bring down and don't have much more weaponry than the vehicles at this point.

I kind of like the salvage system now that I have gotten a chance to salvage a couple mechs, but it can be really frustrating to have a mech appear in possible salvage, but the cost to pick it is more than you could possibly have negotiated for. It is also annoying negotiating for salvage then getting nothing but junk components, which seems to happen on most missions. I have no idea what causes mechs to show up in salvage. All of my lance upgrades have come from purchases. I managed to get enough funds to buy a Hunchback which has replaced the Urbanmech.

Sensors are largely junk. I regularly have enemies sneaking up on me or firing from beyond sensor range. It can get really frustrating.

Mech customization is minimal. My energy slots are either medium laser or better medium laser, so exciting. There is no option to switch in a larger energy weapon. This does make each mech variant very unique because you will not be changing much about their loadout. I did get some medium pulse lasers from a mission which I swapped onto the Hunchback.

I am having fun, but the game needs some work, a bit more polish around the edges.

I think I have a similar take-away so far. I just finished the mission where I brought on my first pilot (and Jenner). To see a Griffin in salvage and not have anything near needed to get it was surprising. Also, I think all salvage I have seen is zero quality.

I am thinking that at least in the early game, I should focus on money and insurance. Maybe once I get more negotiating clout, I can change things up a bit.

Game play wise though, I feel at home with my MWO experience.

The sensors are a bit annoying, but I understand the reason it is why it is, so I think it is just something to get used to. Basically...keep my head on a swivel.

I can't wait to get my new computer (the 17th is when it should be delivered). My current rig gets by, but it runs at lower res and the weird grid/grain pattern it adds is rather distracting at times. It doesn't bother me as much on a mission, but on the ship, it is really noticeable. This again though is mostly due to an aging computer.

Overall though, I am digging the game. I am having a lot of fun with it.

It does seem that the game is taking some criticism for its Out-of-Combat aspects... “uninspired” seems to be a common remark when referring to the dialogue and interactions abound the Leopard.

I too am just past the mission where I pick up my first subordinate MechWarrior. Before reading the above posts I had intended to provide very little oversight... now I am wanting to go in there, tear out that SRM and upArmor that Jenner all I possibly can! lol : )

Does the player get to negotiate salvage rights at all?

Ended up just doing a bunch of contracts and saving up enough in combination with my davion rep at the moment to buy a Hunchback 4G with a burst fire AC20, and a Shadowhawk so have 3 mediums now. Still not in love with the salvage system, it's extremely difficult even putting full points in salvage to even have enough for a light mech never mind anything bigger. I get the idea of it, just think it might need a bit of tuning.

Over all really really enjoying it. I do have a question for folks if they happen to know, is there anyway to reduce the grainy filter they put over everything? Granted I know I need a new video card, and that's part of it but still. There has to be a way to reduce that crap cuz the implementation of whatever they were going for isn't very good.

Yes, you get points to pick between cash, salvage, or repair cost coverage. Salvage seems to sell for 50% of salvage screen list, making early game salvage pretty meh unless it's for your own use. Quality 1 medium lasers are about it as the common quality 0 lrm10 are good for selling but bad at combat.

The cost of a quality 1 ac10 means losing it puts you in the red on almost any contract. Arm weapons in general are going to be frequent losses, making the 4 laser javelin a way better mech than the Jenner.

My first impression.

a) i suck at it. Not a single mission so far where my mech got home without major parts of the armour readout in red. Also died once. In the Centurion.
b) the dropship part is ok. Cannot really say something about the game yet because i haven´t gotten far enough. good addition to Battletech though.

Now, i still cannot decide on the Controls. I tend to lose track on where i move to in a battle. forget aligning my legs, or i turn in the wrong directions. guess it takes some practice,

Critic so far. The best sensor i have is my Mark 1 Eyeball. In the year 3015. ok.

Questions
Is there a way to get your targeting system to lock on automatically? or do you have to hit R or T if someone attacks you?

When do you guys use damage Insurance. If i understand the system right, you get 172000 as an Insurance. If you only have one mech, the damage amounts to about 60000 ( as said, i suck at it). So, taking the Insurance would make sense if you get more mechs, or?

Well, I think it's lore friendly to have missions to destroy water supplies and civilian targets. If you try to roleplay a somewhat decent guy, simply don't take those contracts.

The damage amounts to much more when you lose an arm with a weapon in it. I take alot of damage occasionally, had to replace quite a few ACs on my cent - insurance definetly paying of most of the time. At least 1-2 points.

Yeah, this is kinda annoying to me. Being used to the rather generous opportunities of changing loadouts in HBS:BT, this is so limiting. It's not that I want to add JJs to every mech (ok, I want, but not my point :D ) - but using MWO mechs, why not use MWO hardpoints? Why dial down on number of HPs AND add size restrictions? I know, it's more "true" to what you can do with a merc outfit on a leopard, but it's also kinda boring. I want to try stuff, and when I look at my Centurion, there actually is no real option to change it. Can't drop the LRM for a bigger AC or LL, can't take a bigger LRM for a smaller AC... I basically dropped one ton of LRM ammo for more armor. Could have dropped the LRM for an SRM and another HS, but there really is no need to.

Also: Pilot progression: I'd love to have seen some more customization options here, even if I see the appeal in "the get better in stuff by doing stuff"-approach. But it's ok. No big deal.
