15 April 1250 Syria's Northeast Border

Sultan Saladin: Farewell my friends. Today is quarterly report day and I need to know how much my collectors brought in. Also, I see that your escorts have arrived.

Colonel @Bullfilter announces to his hard riding horsemen of the famed 3rd Light Cavalry Regiment: If we get these VIPS to Kara Khorum by May Day, I will buy the first round.

With a snap of @Bullfilter's whip and cries of Kara Khorum from the troopers, the AmazingAdventourousReaders are off. The speed makes most of the Readers wish for a seat belt and a few are wondering how to install an air bag on a horse. Near the rear, @Specialist290 looks back a final time at Saladin, melding memories of a scared little boy and a mighty Sultan.

19 April 1250 on the trail to Kara Khorum

@Austregisel: I do not see Sergeant @El Pip and his trusty steed, Eeyore.

Liridon: Colonel @Bullfilter sent him out two hours ago.

@Austregisel: Advance scout, good idea.

Liridon: Nah, @Bullfilter says with a two hour head start, @El Pip will only be an hour late reaching camp.

1 May 1250 Kara Khorum in the Mongolian desert.

The AAReaders are shocked to find the Mongol Empire Capital is not a great city but a collection of yurts. The Mongol Empire has improved from #6 to #3, gaining 77 holdings since 1225. The 199 holdings are scattered over 141 counties. The Mongol Empire has a simple leadership timeline:

17 June 1210 23yo Ajai Ajai forms the Mongol Empire.
63yo Mongol Orthodox Genghis Khan Agai formed the Mongol Empire through his great ambition and brilliant strategies. His great martial and adequate diplomacy and stewardship offset any deficiencies in intrigue and learning (9-24-12-2-2). Besides the imperial crown, Genghis Khan Agai has a personal demense of two duchies and ten counties. Twenty-seven dukes, five counts and one baron serve the mighty khan.

Genghis Khan Agai and his almost forty thousand man army are currently at peace. He is trying to burn off eighty bad boy points. Eastern, Pagan, Muslim, Christian and Mazdan rulers have united to defend against him.

12 May 1250 Southern road from Kara Khorum

The great Mongol General, @generalis Julius Caesar, aboard Humpday leads a Bactarian Camel caravan south carrying the AAReaders to the Empire of Rajasthan. Humpday's sisters, Wednesday and Addams, form the second row. Fearing adverse weather, @generalis Julius Caesar has the camels humping in double time.

26 May 1250 Tibetan mountains

A large crash is heard . . . (CLIFFHANGER)

Credits: Eeyore joins us from Winnie the Pooh fame. Humpday from the GEICO commercial. @El Pip is the author of the HoI3 epic 'Inevitable Defeat'. @Specialist290 made the first comment about Saladin when we met him fifty years ago.

Next, we learn about the crash and hopefully journey to Rajasthan.

Saladin has indeed done commendably well over the past fifty years :)

All hail the Universal Ruler, Genghis Khan Agai!
Thank you for replying. Saladin has become a worthy namesake of his illustrious grandfather. While 141 counties is not the entire universe, it is a healthy swath of northern Asia stretching into Europe.

Thank you for commenting. Both so true. With Mongols being Orthodox, will they go feudal? Notice they have less than 1.5 holding per county.

Thank you for replying. Your story arc will continue in next part. The Great Khan is one of the last characters that existed at 1 January 1187 game start. He has a July 1186 birthday.

Good to see Pip relegated to his deservedly junior rank here. ;)

That sounds right! :D
Thank you for commenting. With Devo performing for Genghis Khan, Avon may have reached levels of insanity that I did not know existed. If @El Pip wants a promotion, he can discuss it with Christopher Robin. But a Mongol Cavalry Sergeant is probably more important than 90% of the World's Generals in 1250.

1275 Planning

I know we have two more 1250 episodes (Rajasthan and Wrap Up Party) to go but I want to start planning for 1275. I have played to 1280 and I have accumulated information on top five. In 1250, the number of rulers that each religion had in top twenty-one was added. (Does anyone know why Paradox uses 21 instead of 20 on ledger pages? My guess is that Paradox was founded with gambling winnings.) For 1275, I actually wrote down realms 6-21 and their number of holdings. I will release info as we progress through 1275. Five are vassals.

Contest: 1250's only winner was @Bullfilter who guessed that the Sultanate of Syria had dropped out. His research request was information on Russia. I learned two things: 1) 1260 Empire of Rus was very fractured. 16 independent rulers among 90 counties. 2) Rurikid = Rabbit. 6 of 16 were Rurikids. 1275's contest will have six questions:

1) One ruler and his realm will return in 1275.
2) Another ruler is alive, but rules a different realm that is not in the top five.
3) One realm's 1275 ruler is of a different culture than its 1250 ruler.
4) One realm's 1275 ruler is of a different religion than its 1250 ruler.
5) One realm drops out of top five.
6) One realm joins the top five.
Each of 1250 top five is the answer to one of questions 1 - 5. In Wrap Up Party, I will give each current leader's age, culture and religion. I will give realms 6 - 9 as well. (I do not remember # of holdings for #7 and #8.) You may begin guessing at any time. Prize will be added research by me. Suggestions include: 1) Rulers of a de jure Empire. 2) Rulers, cultures and religions of a de jure kingdom. 3) List of counties, cultures, and religions of a current realm.
Poll Question: The original question was going to be if my game ends early (major succession issues); would you like for me to do another AAR like this. But in November 1279, 41yo Doux Alex and 29yo Princess Georgia welcomed a baby daughter thus giving me some hope. New question is: What does the time travelers want to be known as:

A) AmazingAvonReaders
B) AmazingAdventurousReaders
C) something else (give suggestion)
You may also answer original question about new AAR if you wish.
Volunteers Wanted: Alek is alive in 1275. @diskoerekto will continue to be his best friend and unofficial leader of the AAReaders. I am sorry to report that Visar and Liridon will not return. @HistoryDude and @Austregisel, thank you for your service. (Does anyone want date and cause of death?) Alek's cousin and Mystikos, Flamur will be the guide. I NEED A VOLUNTEER to be liaison with Flamur. Also suggestions for roles that you would like and celebrities that you would like to meet. If anyone has a hobby that I can use, let me know. (@Bullfilter's cricket will make an appearance.) People who may appear include A-Team, James Bond, Matt Helm, Jack Ryan, James West, Maxwell Smart and Agent 99, Bullwinkle and Rocky, Boris and Natasha, Catherine Bach in her Daisy Dukes (sorry Jessica Simpson fan), Batman (I prefer Adam West but will accept Val Kilmer; anyone wanting Michael Keaton visits the Basileus for an eye exam) and Catwoman (Julie Newmar or Halle Berry; anyone wanting Michelle Pfeiffer visits the Basileus to prepare for work in a Sultan's harem), witches (Samantha, Sabrina or Charmed sisters) and angels (hopefully Charlie will lend one or two, if not maybe Queen Victoria will loan us one.) Anybody with ideas either reply here or PM me. My first idea Snoopy needs a co-pilot. Everyone bring helmet and flak jacket to 1275. Three of top five are involved in same war, so we will visit warzone instead of palaces.

Everyone, thank you for reading. We have topped 3K views!!!

I vote for this

Rajasthan

HRE
Thank you for replying and guesses. One vote for Adventurous. Two for two, I owe you two researches. Let me know, what you want! For fun, any idea new Rajasthan leader's culture and the Kaiser's religion. The Admiral will make one final appearance in 1275, otherwise you will be with Alek in opening and closing.

Hmm, I say Rajasthan turned Hindustani and HRE turned Muslim but I'm not sure which denomination. As for research, one would be the situation of Turkish culture, and the other would be which realm directly holds the most amount of silk road trade posts.

Happy to be with Alek :)

@Bullfilter's cricket will make an appearance.
That should be fun.

I got my research, so will leave these choices to the others. :)

Thank you for your reply. Yes Rajasthan has Hindustani leader. This was my biggest shock in 1275 world check. This is my first time that I have seen a 'native' culture ruling a Sunni major power in India. In 1220, 1241, 1336 starts India's largest realm was a Turkish Sunni. 1204 had a Turkish Sunni Rajasthan before decadence allowed a Persian Sunni Bengal to finish as world #1. The 1336 game ended with two Turkish Sunnis and a Afghan Sunni in top six. The three capitals were in a cluster with their realms radiating. The Turkish realms went northeast and northwest while the Afghan went southward.

HRE has an Orthodox leader. All of the major Muslim leaders are Sunni. In the past I have see more Sunni heretics (Yazidi and Zikri) than Ibadi and Shia leaders.

I hope that you want to know about Turkish leaders rather than owners of Turkish counties. A tidbit for now, the largest Turkish realm is the Sultanate of Rum, Anatolia and Georgia. 1204 had a large Turkish Oghuz/Persia Sultanate as well as India. 1204 Rum was for a long time a single mosque in a Christian held county.

As for silk road, you can make another choice as I am not playing with Horse Lords or Jade Dragon.

My biggest surprises so far: 1) Genghis Khan being baptized. Can Mongol Empire go feudal? 2) Hindustani Rajasthan. 3) Utter failure of France. France is a perennial top five member and is currently not in top twenty-one. 4) My first top twenty-one check finding five vassals with four being Sunni.

Sorry about silk road, but hold your request because the deeper that I dive the more questions that I find.
