Buckling up for 1300! :D
Thank you for replying. Thank you for working with Princess Georgia on planning the 1300 tour. We have three new top 5 members. Two are returnees but one is a realm that I have not seen in top five in any of the 5 games that I have charted.

@Vladimir_Stukov for Iron Crown of Lombardy. This is a new CK2 AAR a 769 start in Ironman with a goal of restoring the Roman Empire.
NEXT: 1300

Everyone thank you for reading and I hope to see you in 1300.

Heya, thanks for the warm welcome and for the shoutout! I hope to be able to make the AAR interesting and exciting for readers.

@Specialist290 introduces @Vladimir_Stukov to Princess Georgia and @DensleyBlair. Princess Georgia upon learning that @Vladimir_Stukov was from Lombardy insisted that he meet Doux Alek, as Alek's mother was from Venice.
I've read some parts of your AAR. Very interesting format to say the least. Uh... how does this work? Do I roleplay as myself or something else to interact with your characters and other users? :D

2 January 1300 Dyrrhachion Castle

The warm greetings, that 49yo Princess Georgia bestowed on the AmazingAdventurousReaders, could not hide her longing for Doux Alek to be here on this day. For today, his great friend @diskoerekto returned after a quarter century. To her left 15yo Doux Konstantin, was in deep conversation with the newly appointed WayBack Machine commander @Kazanov. Whether he is asking about some leadership topic or just thanking him for the barrels of chocolate powder that her children mixed with milk, she could not hear. If she had a drachma for every time that she caught a child with a chocolate moustache, her wardrobe for the world tour would make an Empress green with envy. She sees that @Bullfilter has been cornered by 13yo Boša. The girl is infatuated with tales of Russia, bears and the Rurikids. Georgia spies @diskoerekto slipping away, probably to the crypt to have a private moment with Alek or to the dungeon to confront 20yo Shrpesa. Seeing her co-guide for the world tour, @DensleyBlair, she remembers 25years ago when the two scared newbies welcomed each other. The look of bafflement on the face conversing with him identifies the person as an AAReader newcomer. Georgia assures @Cora Giantkiller that they will be great friends and two women invading the former boys club world tours will be great fun.
A careful listener with great hearing would barely hear @diskoerekto "Old Friend, I miss you greatly. Yes, I will tell the children of you. But not of Doux Alek, counselor of four Basileuses, lord and shepherd of Dyrrachion for almost forty years but rather Alek the 11yo boy who climbed the crow's nest of the Purple Steward, who intimidated a rebel Irish count for his sister's remains, who stood shoulder to shoulder with the Byzantine Emperor to bring his father and sister home. Later the near deaf a quarter mile away would hear @diskoerekto's bellow rise from the dungeon; "What were you thinking? No, grandfather Gjin, nothing. While he is called the Balkan Boogeyman, he would never harm a Progonovic. In-law probably. He and your father believed, YOU START I FINISH. You started but did not finish. Now, your schooling or rather lack. Your father and grandfather were Elusive Shadows, your mother is a Mastermind Theologian and you are what, an Indulgent Wastrel that nobody likes. Yes, being in the Blette is a penalty but you only lose 10 points if you have 10 points. Blind and deaf saints had problems finding a second point for you before you tried to kill your brother."

The 13th century's tumultuous final quarter saw three realms drop from the top five:

The Kingdom of England and Ireland loses 120 holdings, dropping from #3 to #7 with 147 holdings.
20 July 1253 28yo King Fulk is forced to abdicate. His 11yo daughter Aveline Plantagenet becomes Queen of England and Ireland.
7 November 1285 A faction forces 44yo Queen Aveline to relinquish the Kingdom of England. 50yo Eustace de Cognal becomes King of England. (58yo Queen Aveline of Ireland is the living 1275 top 5 ruler.)
26 February 1298 62yo King Eustace dies in his sleep. His 26yo son Anselm de Cognal inherits the Kingdom of England.
23 January 1299 27yo King Anselm dies from battlefield injuries. His 1yo son Christopher de Cognal inherits the Kingdom of England.
The Kingdom of England is currently fighting two defensive wars.
England is defending the La Forbie Barony from King David of Jerusalem's De Jure Claim. Solomon, a Dewey Cheatem and Howe intern, has King David ahead by eleven points.
England is defending Dunois County from King Raoul II of France's De Jure Claim. Maria, a DC&H bean counter, has King Raoul II leading by fifty-one points.

The Sultanate of Syria and Arabia loses 82 holdings, dropping from #4 to #8 with 134 holdings.
18 December 1199 27yo Sultan Al-Zahir is murdered. His 4yo son Saladin Ayyubid inherits the Sultanates of Syria and Arabia.
17 March 1277 81yo Sultan Saladin dies in his sleep. His 50yo son Yasar Ayyubid inherits the Sultanates of Syria and Arabia. Sultan Yasar is a Zikri adherent. (I wonder how this goes over with the Sunnis who are helping Syria defend Egypt from the Catholic Crusade.)
24 November 1281 55yo Sultan Yasar dies after a lengthy illness. His 2yo son Khalid Ayyubid inherits the Sultanates of Syria and Arabia.
19 August 1295 16yo Sultan Khalid dies in combat. His 13yo brother Faisal Ayyubid inherits the Sultanates of Syria and Arabia.
The Sultanate of Syria and Arabia is currently fighting a defensive war.
Syria/Arabia is defending the Arabia Sultanate from Sunni Caliph Fadl II's Jihad. (I am sorry but I do not have the current score, but Sultan Faisal will win.)
The Sultanate of Rum, Anatolia and Georgia loses 131 holdings, dropping from #5 to tied for #23 with 77 holdings.
2 June 1263 49yo Sultan Hasan dies of a heart attack. His 9yo son Toruntay Seljuk inherits the Sultanates of Rum, Anatolia and Georgia.
2 June 1293 39yo Sultan Toruntay creates the Sultanate of Trebizond.
10 April 1295 41yo Sultan Torunday dies of a heart attack. His 22yo son Mahmud Seljuk inherits the Sultanates of Rum, Anatolia, Georgia and Trebizond.
The Sultanate of Rum, Anatolia, Georgia and Trebizond is currently fighting two defensive wars,
Rum/Anatolia/Georgia/Trebizond is defending the Anatolia Sultanate from a rebellion led by Beylerbey Baytas of Ankara. Beylerbey Baytas controls 76 holdings and hopes to make Sultan Mahmud's cousin Osman Seljuk Sultan of Anatolia. Anne Howe's crack investigative team favors Sultan Mahmud by eight points.
Rum/Anatolia/Georgia/Trebizond is defending the Georgia Sultanate from a rebellion led by Beylerbey Bulend of Cibyrrhaeot. Beylerbey Bulend controls 99 holdings and hopes to make Sultan Mahmud's brother Savur Seljuk Sultan of Georgia. Anne Howe's ace bean counters favor Beylerbey Bulend by four points.

7 January 1300 Dyrrachion (the county has one spelling and its seat another) Inn

Boša yells "Everyone hurry up! I need to get to the five and dime and get a SlurpE before they run out. Momma only lets me have one a week. And we need to be at the Inn before Mr. Bing sings the holiday song with @Zesty_Taco on the piano and @Vladimir_Stukov on the saxophone. This is their last show before they go on the road with Mr. Bob and Miss Dorothy. Mr. Fred and Miss Ginger have been teaching me to dance and momma says that I can have one dance."

THANK YOUs: To Fred Astaire and Bing Crosby for the movie Holiday Inn where the song White Christmas debuted.
To @Zesty_Taco for The Jewel of the World. Computer problems will prevent him from finishing. @Zesty_Taco, I have one request when (not if) you start your next AAR, will you please come to Avon and invite us to your world.
To @diskoerekto for nominating Avon Las Observes as Featured AAR of the Week! This award is for everyone who has been a AAReader,
To @Bullfilter for nominating me as Writer of the Week last week! Without you, I would probably not be commenting much less writing,
Princess Georgia Laskaris of the Byzantine Empire is a 9-3-7-4-14 Mastermind Theologian, zealous and gregarious. She is the granddaughter and daughter of Byzantine Basileuses with her father Michael VIII murdered in office. The children's graduation records: Shpresa 1-7-2-6-6 Indulgent Wastrel; Konstantin 5-11-9-16-8 Elusive Shadow (like father and grandfather); Boša 11-4-3-2-5 Detached Priest.

NEXT: We will journey east meet our first newcomer. We will continue in a counter clockwise direction (does not mean that we are going #5 to #4 to #3 etc.) with Rajasthan then second newcomer then HRE then final newcomer before finishing in Dyrrachion with wrap up. Anyone guessing any of the newcomers can make an extra research request (France and Poland have some unusual shades of green). I have played to December 1216.

Everyone, thank you for reading and please join me on our journey east.

Thank you very much! Which hurts worst, the Blah Shrpesa getting a one star or the potentially good Boša getting one star? The children of Gjin spoiled me two D3s, an I3 and two I4s. Both Shrpesa and Boša like daggers and poisons. Shrpesa went after little brother for the duchy, while Boša would go after Princess Georgia (rivalry between teenage girl and her mother). By 1316, Boša is up to a total of 31 and creating problems in Rurikid Russia.

Islam always get weakened in Ck2, i hope they fix that in CK3 adding more events in the lategame about the rise of the Ottomans, you have a century and a half to go and we will see how this ends :p

Thank you for replying. Even though I am a latecomer to CK2, I think that the game has a long history of having balance problems between the Catholics and Islam. Sometimes the Catholics would be strong and sometimes Islam would be strong, with the final patch overpowering the Catholics. In my 1300 world, I think that the only Med provinces with Islamic rulers lie in modern day Turkey and Syria. Iberia and north Africa west of Egypt have Catholic rule without the aid of a crusade. With Syria having a Zikri ruler and controlling Mecca, Sunni Jihads will probably focus on Arabia. The only good news is that in 1316 the next Catholic crusade will be for Suomenusko Estonia (probably will not last 20 years).

Sunni province count in my five recorded games:
1336 start 398 (1350 2nd) 425 (1450 2nd)
1241 start 368 (1250 2nd) below 80 (1450 not top 5 religion)
1220 start 350 (1225 2nd) 296 (1450 2nd)
1204 start 322 (1225 2nd) 229 (1450 3rd)
1187 start 348 (1200 2nd) 252 (1300 3rd)
I noticed when I started taking brief looks at top 21 (1275 this game) that Sunnis will have larger vassals than Catholics. In 1300, three of the six Sunni top 21 realms are vassals while only one of the ten Catholic top 21 realms is a vassal.

As for century and a half, I hope the Progonovic dynasty survives. I think that I have fewer Progonovics in 1316 than in 1222 when the founder Count Progon died. I know that there are fewer males than when Progon left five sons.

31 January 1300 ByzantiumConstantinople

Princess Georgia leads the AmazingAdventurousReaders through the city of her birth. Most of her memories though are from visits with Alek and not her childhood. For she was only four when her father was murdered and she moved to Krete to live with her older half-sister, the Countess of Kaneia. Ecumenical Patriarch Sisinnios personally guided the AAReaders through the Hagia Sophia, the church where Georgia had been christened almost a half century before. @HistoryDude was extremely moved by the beautiful church and vowed to return whether in the 14th or the 21st centuries.

The Byzantine Empire reenters the top five as #5 gaining one spot though losing six holdings. The Empire's 180 holdings stretch over 58 counties in the Southern Balkans, Asia Minor and Crimea. Byzantine Emperors are chosen by Agnatic-Cognatic Imperial Election. The Byzantine third quarter leadership timeline:

13 September 1270 28yo Alexandros Angelos is elected Basileus.
5 January 1286 44yo Basileus Alexandros is ousted. 45yo Radagaisus Gavras is elected Basileus. (Basileus Radagaisus kept capital in Crimea even while owning Constantinople.)
5 January 1290 49yo Basileus Radagaisus dies in the Ziani family dungeon. (He was captured during a war with Venice. Why was he not freed at the end?) Radagaisus' 22yo son Polykarpos Gavras is elected Basileus.
32yo Greek Catholic Basileus Polykarpos is Midas Touched and well rounded (8-10-18-3-9) except for intrigue. Basileus Polykarpos has a business focus and has become an aspiring trader, ambitious and diligent though arbitrary. Basileus Polykarpos is personally in charge of the empire, two duchies and three counties. He could easily rule seven more holdings. Basileus Polykarpos has one king, sixteen dukes, five counts and eight barons as vassals.

Basileus Polykarpos and his ten thousand man army are fighting two defensive wars.

Sultan Uzur of Egypt has called an Embargo War against the Byzantine Empire. Anne Howe has given Sultan Uzur a fifty-five point lead.
Adventurer Ioannes Gavras (Basileus Polykarpos' brother) is pressing his claim to the Byzantine Empire. Anne Howe is refusing to score the Battle of the Brothers.

2 February 1300

The AAReaders gathered at a Constantinople nightsport to hear the Four Lads, @Bullfilter, @Zesty_Taco, @AlaroAshen and @GangsterSynod sing their hit song, Constantinople not Byzantium. Princess Georgia asks her inner circle, @diskoerekto, @Kazanov, @DensleyBlair and @Cora Giantkiller, to help her find a good Orthodox girl as a bride for Doux Konstantin. At a nearby corner table, Chief @RustyHunter is briefing Maxwell Smart and Agent 99. As Smart gets louder, @Dunaden whispers to his tablemates that instead of being called Max Smart, the man should be called Not So Smart. In the shadows, @alscon is advising Boris and Natasha.

THANK YOUs
To Don Adams and Barbara Feldon for Get Smart.
To Boris and Natasha for helping on The Adventures of Rocky and Bullwinkle and Friends.
To @RustyHunter for Bastion of the East. He has created a Norman homeland in central Anatolia.
To @alscon for The Right Hand of the Karlings. He is attempting to keep the Karlings from becoming woolly mammoths in CK3.
NEXT
We will journey east to the City of Elephants.
Everyone, thank you for reading and please join me as we explore Rajasthan.

This reminds me why I have a thousand hours in CK2

I thought England losing 120 holdings was bad but holy moly, Rum has fallen on hard times.
This was a very tumultuous time for bottom of top five. England/Ireland was an almost even split with Ireland #9. Rum is a family squabble! Everything still in revolt stage. Syria lost Egypt to Crusade.

The mere mention of a Basileus Radagaisus made my day. That implies that the Crimean Goths may have turned Greek, but their descendants still honour their ancestors. And I've got a soft spot for them in CK II.

Now, back to vanishing into the shadows...

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet of late. All that house-related prep for painting and carpeting, decided to do all the trim painting in two of the rooms myself first, then got a nasty head cold (not COVID but also not pleasant) a couple of days back. Will be maintaining a largely watching presence for the next couple of weeks, but am still reading when I can and may just lurk a bit.

I wish I could actually sing! :D
