To @Bullfilter for nominating me as Writer of the Week last week! Without you, I would probably not be commenting much less writing
You’re very welcome my friend

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet of late. All that house-related prep for painting and carpeting, decided to do all the trim painting in two of the rooms myself first, then got a nasty head cold (not COVID but also not pleasant) a couple of days back. Will be maintaining a largely watching presence for the next couple of weeks, but am still reading when I can and may just lurk a bit.

I wish I could actually sing! :D
Get Better Soon Friend. We can do anything that we want in the forums.

As Smart gets louder, @Dunaden whispers to his tablemates that instead of being called Max Smart, the man should be called Not So Smart.
Bring me the Cone of Silence! Then no one can slander Smart!

Byzantium is doing better, which is always nice to see.

I'm interested in who will win the War of Brothers - perhaps the victor will use this experience to go on the offensive against the Turks?

Thank you for responding. Basileus Polykarpos wins the War of Brothers. I have played up to January 1325 and Byzantium has not had a day in the 14th century that it has not been involved in at least one defensive war. I thought that it was typical Byzantium that they rejoined top five while losing holdings.

9 February 1300 Road to the City of Elephants

@LPDK 356 approaches @DensleyBlair and asks if @Alfred Packer can travel with the AmazingAdventurousReaders. It seems that @Alfred Packer had made a right turn and crossed the Adriatic instead of a left to Corsica. To avoid the Asia Minor conflicts, Captain @Nikolai of the Varangian Guard ferries the AAReaders across the Black Sea. Samrat Ayeshah II dispatches the famed A-Team to meet the AAReaders on the Black Sea Shore and escort them to Hastinapura. To continue his tradition as the first AAReader in Hastinapura, @El Pip volunteers to scout with Howling Mad Murdock and Dumbo. (A few cynics say that the trio just wanted an early start on Hannibal's cigars, scotch and peanuts.) While helping Princess Georgia down from Jumbo, Col. Hannibal asks if she had ever eaten Breakfast at Tiffany's.

1 March 1300 Hastinapura, Rajasthan

The Empire of Rajasthan is #2 for the third consecutive check. Rajasthan has gained 58 holdings to 344 in 109 counties (up 14). Rajasthan's third quarter leadership timeline:

26 January 1255 16yo Ayeshah Ghurid inherits the Empire of Rajasthan.
11 October 1290 52yo Samrat Ghurid dies of depression. His 29yo son Ayeshah Ghurid inherits the Empire of Rajasthan.
39yo Hindustani Sunni Samrat Ayeshah II is a Detached Priest (1-8-7-5-4). Though slow, Samrat Ayeshah II is ambitious and diligent. He controls the empire, two duchies and five counties. His vassals include three kings, twelve dukes, six counts and ten barons. Samrat Ayeshan II has sixty-four bad boy points and drawn the ire of Pagans, Easterns and Muslims. Samrat Ayeshah II and his thirty-five thousand man army is currently in one offensive war:

Sultan Ayeshah II is trying to conquer Merv (county in Central Asia) from Sultan Danismend of Oghuz. Anne Howe is giving Samrat Ayeshah II a four point lead.

Princess Georgia leads the AAReaders to the Short Twig Saloon to listen to RiverMan Johnny sing. To everyone's surprise playing drums for RiverMan Johnny is famed piano player/barber shop singer @Zesty_Taco. They notice Boris and Natasha skulking in the shadows. Hearing a strange sound, @Vladimir_Stukov investigates. He reports that @RustyHunter and Agent 99 are zapping Max every time that he says something not so smart. @Idhrendur is giving an impossible mission to Jim Phelps and Barney Collier: Find out what the other spy teams know before they know! The Hanging Judge of Lahore, @tpmcinty, tasks Marshal Matt with ending spying in the Punjab. As the sun reaches its apex, the sound of three elephants reaches the Short Twig. Miss Kitty, the Short Twig owner, instructs @Macavity116 to protect the AAReaders while bartender @Eurasia retrieves his mace with 13 embedded studs. He says that it is only unlucky for others. Marshal Matt enters brandishing two cutlasses. To his right stands Bison Bart @codie with his mighty crossbow. To his left stands Wild Ben @J66185 with a sabre in his hand and a dagger in his boot top.

THANK YOUs:

James Arness and Amanda Blake for making the West safe in Gunsmoke.
Peter Graves and Greg Morris for making the Mission: Impossible possible long before Tom Cruise.
@Alfred Packer for Don't Make Anas Out of Me. He is the current Writer of the Week and will make you laugh. @Alfred Packer, beware if you travel to Rus that Rurikids breed like rabbits.
@Zesty_Taco for The Table of Princes. Hopefully there are fewer computer gremlins in Moravia than in Andalusia.
@El Pip for being Fan of the Week. Please enjoy a Cuban cigar, a snifter of 40yo Scotch and a sack of roasted Virginia Peanuts.
To everyone for reading. Please join me next time when we journey north to meet our second newcomer (guesses for the two remaining newcomers still welcome).

I don't know why, I just laughed out loud when I read this.

Also, I seem to be defending against Matt Dillon of Gunsmoke. My Western-obsessed grandmother tells me this is a suicidal idea. It must be Thursday. Never got the hang of Thursdays.

Matt Dillon is only after the spies. You are protecting the AAReaders and Miss Kitty from stray blades. Your grandmother would not want Miss Kitty harmed. Thank you for replying.

We both kinds liked it :D

Rajastan seems to be a steady major power. Do they have any natural enemies (other than themselves) nearby!

Thank you @DensleyBlair and @Bullfilter for commenting. At first, I could not decide if @DensleyBlair was referring to our little spy drama or the general situation in Rajasthan, then I realized that my little spy drama was an inadvertent microcosm of life in Hastinapura. The amount of spying in an area will relate to whether it is capital or not, whether realm is predator or prey, popularity of realm and ruler and ease of foreigners to reach province. As biggest realm in Asia, 64 bad boy points and defensive pacts by Pagans, Easterns, and Muslims; Rajasthan and Samrat Ayeshah II qualifies as a huge tiger. Samrat Ayeshah II with a 1 in diplomacy and later earning the moniker of 'the Cruel' finds friends to be rare gems. After being capital for over 50 years, Hastinapura is still a border town as 3 of the 4 bordering counties belong to the independent Delhi Kingdom (Rajput Hindu). Also the Ganges widens to major river status between Hastinapura and Delhi. Hastinapura will collect goods from the interior for shipment down the Ganges to the Bay of Bengal and trade with the East. Strangers in Hastinapura will be far from unusual thus making spying far less difficult.
Princess Georgia has said prayers asking for God's blessing on @Macavity116 and @Eurasia for protecting her party. As a daughter of a Basileus and the de facto ruler of Dyrrachion for much of the last thirty years, Princess Georgia is taking on a more active leadership role than previous guides. Besides, she is wife shopping for her son (will turn 16 on 4 April).
@Bullfilter asked about possible enemies. In India, the Hindu Bengal and Telingana Kingdoms are both in the top 21. Also, the Buddhist Phagmodrupa Kingdom (Tibet), the Orthodox Mongol Empire and the Sunni Iraq/Persia Sultanate are top 21 realms that border Rajasthan. Internally, Sunni Punjab and Kabulistan Kingdoms are both top 21 realms. Each holds roughly a quarter of Rajasthan's holdings. While Rajasthan is roughly half the size as HRE, her military is 80% as large as the HRE's. While de jure Rajasthan lands in India remain outside of the empire, the current target Merv is in modern Turkmenistan.

Everyone, please forgive me for in the Rajasthan update, I failed to list the Sunni top 21 realms.

Sunni

Rajasthan Empire #2 344 holdings
Iraq/Persia Sultanate #6 171 holdings
Rumite Revolt #14 99 holdings
Jibal Emirate #15 96 holdings (Persia vassal)
Punjab Kingdom #18 89 holdings (Rajasthan vassal)
Kabulistan Kingdom #20 86 holdings (Rajasthan vassal)
Everyone, thank you for reading and I hope that this answers a few questions.

They sound like the elephant in the room in that region, large in holdings and powerful militarily.
I hope that this answers a few questions.
It certainly does. :)

31 March 1300 Kara Khorum

Princess Georgia muses that surely she will be able to find a suitable bride for Doux Konstantin here in the world's largest Orthodox realm. @Cora Giantkiller asks @Kazanov and @DensleyBlair should they somehow warn the Doux. @Kazanov replied when dealing with mothers that it is every man for himself. Princess Georgia asks Khagan Chormakhan about his 14yo cousin Holuikhan Agai. (The Balkan Boogeyman's grandson will marry Genghis Khan's granddaughter.)

1 April 1300 Kara Khorum

The Mongol and Tartaria Empire reenters the top five as #4 up from #7. The 203 holdings in 140 counties represent a gain of 43 holdings and 27 counties. Mongol Khagans are chosen by Agnatic Elective Gavelkind. The timeline for The Mongol and Tartaria Empire during the 13th century's final quarter:

4 August 1266 35yo Khorchi Agai (father of Holuikhan) is elected Mongol Empire Khagan.
22 February 1287 Khagan Khorchi creates the Tartaria Empire.
22 October 1295 65yo Khagan Khorchi dies of severe stress. Khagan Khorchi's 25yo great nephew Chormakhan Agai is elected Mongol Empire Khagan and Khagan Khorchi's 23yo son Ajai Ajai is elected Tartaria Empire Khagan.
26 June 1297 A Tartaria Empire faction replaces 25yo Khagan Ajai with 27yo Khagan Chormakhan of the Mongol Empire.
29yo Mongol Orthodox Khagan Chormakhan, a Dutiful Cleric, is great at everything except Intrigue (14-15-10-4-19). A hard working genius, Khagan Chormakhan is focusing on theology. Khagan Chormakhan rules two empires, a kingdom, a duchy and two counties with room for seven more holdings. He has two kings, nineteen dukes, three counts and a baron as vassals. Khagan Chormakhan and his twelve thousand man army is engaged in a defensive war.

Chief Tolun of Turgay is trying to capture Syganak county. (Both Syganak and Turgay are in modern Kazakhstan.) Anne Howe has given Chief Tolun a three point advantage.
Orthodox realms in top 21:

Mongol Empire #4 203 holdings

4 April 1300 Land That Time Forgot

@generalis Julius Caesar aboard the renown Bactarian HumpDay leads a procession from a place that time has forgotten to 14th century Europe. HumpDay's best friend CaveMan with the help of Fred and Barney leads a dinosaur caravan bearing the bravest of the AmazingAdventurousReaders. The lead dinosaurs are Dino, Franko, Samo and Bishopo. Every evening, @Bullfilter takes young BamBam Rubble aside coaching him to be a proper cricket batsman. For those who wish more comfort and speed, @AxolotlKnight and @AlaroAshen take to the air with a squadron of dragons. The unhappy dragon Spot (purple and pink polka dot dragon) gravitates to @Kazanov. Spot wanted to sing with Ebony and Ivory, but they said her voice was too deep. When she tried to play red light green light with Crimson and Clover, she would get confused about which color to touch. When she tried to pick flowers with Daffodil and Bluebonnet, she trampled more flowers than she picked. One morning as @Kazanov was drinking his mug of chocolate milk, Spot got too close and @Kazanov's cold milk was now hot. Before leaving Kara Kharum to celebrate her son's birthday, Princess Georgia has Holuikhan make ul boov cakes. The great dragon Brown is chosen to fly the cakes to Dyrrachion.

NEXT: We will journey to the Holy Roman Empire.

THANK YOUs: To Fred, Barney and BamBam for making us laugh as Flintstones.

To @AxolotlKnight and @AlaroAshen for merging CK2 and Game of Thrones in A History of the Iron Throne II and The Blackdrake, respectively.
To @Kazanov and Spot for inventing Hot Chocolate and to Brown for opening Dragon Express.
To everyone for reading. We have recently passed the 6K view mark.

A scholarly genius with a low intrigue score does not sound like the best ruler for a big old Mongol empire, somehow. My bet would be that a talent for intrigue would be the one thing you would want in that position!

Thank you for commenting. I have played to 1325 and his low intrigue will prove crucial.
