They sound like the elephant in the room in that region, large in holdings and powerful militarily.

It certainly does. :)
Thank you for commenting, Rajasthan is an elephant in several rooms with an ambitious idiot riding it. I edited his profile. He is a detached priest not a dutiful cleric. (L1 not L2).

The Mongol and Tartaria Empire reenters the top five as #4 up from #7. The 203 holdings in 140 counties represent a gain of 43 holdings and 27 counties. Mongol Khagans are chosen by Agnatic Elective Gavelkind. The timeline for The Mongol and Tartaria Empire during the 13th century's final quarter:

Thank you for responding. In 1275, there was an independence war by a 68 holding faction; so no real gains. With the special troops gone and a failure to feudalize, the Mongol Empire has probably reached its apex. This is the first time that I have seen a realm with two empire titles and with gavelkind, it will probably be a curse not a blessing. Rajasthan is pushing into Central Asia. The European holdings will probably be soon lost.

30 April 1300 Schwyz, Schwyzer Alps

The long journey from the Gobi Desert to the Swiss Alps is finally complete. Princess Georgia and the Amazing Adventurous Readers have finally reached the Holy Roman Empire capital. For some, this is the end of the journey. The dragons would stay in the Alps. A young Swiss Miss named Heidi would partner with Spot to spread hot chocolate to every child in the Empire. (@Kazanov receives an annual royalty check.) The dinosaurs except for Dino would remain in the Alpine meadows. Yes, Dino would leave his pack members Franko and Samo behind to travel with the Flintstone/Rubble families. @Bullfilter would continue his daily coaching sessions with BamBam. (If you happen to see a dragon perched on an Alpine crag or a dinosaur drinking from a mountain stream, you can thank the AAReaders' 1300 journey.)

1 May 1300 Schwyz, Holy Roman Empire

Before reaching the Kaiser, the AAReaders must pass below the banners proudly proclaiming the Holy Roman Empire to be "#1 1200", "#1 1225", "#1 1250", "#1 1275" and finally "#1 1300". The 13th century's fourth quarter would be a period of consolidation for the HRE. The Empire would lose one holding (646) and be in seven fewer counties (171). The Holy Roman Empire's fourth quarter leadership timeline:

13 June 1269 48yo Adolf von Zähringen is elected Holy Roman Emperor.
16 March 1276 54yo Kaiser Adolf dies in his sleep. 37yo Ciro d'Este is elected Holy Roman Emperor.
26 November 1299 61yo Kaiser Ciro dies in his sleep. 62yo Philipp Saarbrücken is elected Holy Roman Emperor.
62yo German Catholic Kaiser Philipp is said to be Midas Touched. Patient and temperate Kaiser Philipp uses his strong stewardship and intrigue to mask his diplomatic weakness (3-8-14-11-8). Kaiser Philipp controls the empire, a duchy and a county with the ability to manage five more holdings. His vassals include two kings, thirty-seven dukes, three counts and three bishops. Kaiser Philipp has two bad boy points and is involved in one offensive war with the Empire's forty-two thousand man army.

The HRE is attacking King Henrique of Aragon for Duke Azzo II of València's (HRE vassal) claim to Tarragona County (northeastern Spain).

18 May 1300 between Schwyz and Bordeaux

On the journey to the coast, the AAReaders have found themselves in an uprising. The local populace is revolting against the tyranny of Duke Arnold 'the SumBeach' of Benedict. NTC1776 welcomes Princess Georgia and the AAReaders to the SeaWell Ordinary. He says that he can provide food, drink and lodging. He adds that he has a slightly used wagon for sale if the AAReaders need it. He assures them that they are perfectly safe for at the corner table making plans are General Marquis de @The Number 9 of the French Legion and Colonel @Wraith11B of the local militia. Many AAReaders have taken to carrying daggers and @DensleyBlair is openly wearing a cavalry saber and has appointed himself Princess Georgia's personal bodyguard. NTC1776 tells Princess Georgia that General @coz1 and Governor @Eurasia have eaten at SeaWell's. He further explains that he hopes that the 'SumBeach' will be soon defeated as his lady is ailing and their children are caught up in the war effort. His oldest two sons are serving with General @coz1 in the siege lines at Benedict City across the river. His next son is commanding a ship in Admiral @diskoerekto's blockading flotilla. His daughter and son by law have lost their home to the 'SumBeach' and he is commanding a trebuchet while she is tending the sick and wounded. The next morning young Zaza1119, bursts into the Ordinary yelling "Mr. NTC, the Bloody Bastard is on the move." As General @The Number 9 leads his mounted legion, Colonel @Wraith11B asks NTC1776 if he can borrow his youngest son. While JJC1776's clubfoot has prevented normal military service, his creation of a Roman ballista makes him a one man killing force. During the Battle of the Hook, a ballista bolt would unseat Colonel 'BloodyBastard' Tarleton but Lt. @ibicko would pull him to safety before the local militia could capture the Colonel. Two weeks later, the 'SumBeach' would surrender to General @coz1 ending the six year war. NTC1776 would become the first Mayor of Ordinary.

NEXT: We will journey southwest to our final 1300 stop. (This is a newcomer that I have not seen in five games.)

THANK YOUs: @The Number 9 for portraying Marquis de Choisy of Lauzin's Legion. If anyone looks at Marquis de Choisy's wikipedia article (which I strongly encourage), you will find his report on the Battle of the Hook to General George Washington with a mention of Seawell's (spelling differs) Ordinary.

@Wraith11B for portraying Colonel John Mercer of the Virginia Militia. He has Der Adler, der Wolf, und die Sonne on the HoI3 threads.
@coz1 for portraying General George Washington. Congratulations on having a recent Featured AAR of the Week.
@Eurasia for portraying Governor Thomas Jefferson. Congratulations on being Writer of the Week.
@ibicko for A Tale as Old as Time: Book II: The Dual Monarchy on the EU4 threads.
NTC1776 for being a great boss and an even better friend.
Everyone for reading. I do not know if I did it justice but this little adventure is very personal for me. The Battle of the Hook was a battle during the Yorktown siege of the American Revolution in my home county. (If anyone wishes to learn more, google 1781 Battle of the Hook otherwise you will spend time in Korean War China.) Seawell's Ordinary (an ordinary is a tavern or inn for the ordinary man) dates to 1712 and today is headquarters for an used car dealership. Among the people who dined there are George Washington, Thomas Jefferson and me. Legend has the Marquis de Lafayette's pipe caused a scorch mark on the barroom floor. The building is not on any historical register as it was moved in the 1940s and turned 90º for highway widening. Nearby is the one room post office for Ordinary, Va. (the area is named for Seawell's Ordinary).

This is a depiction of the Battle of the Hook. In October 2013, over one thousand military reenactors (almost as many as in the actual battle) reenacted the battle at Warner Hall less than 10 miles from the battle site. Warner Hall was established in 1642 by Augustine Warner (General George Washington's great great grandfather). While this video is probably not from the reenactment, several videos do exist on YouTube of the reenactment. Colonel Tarleton was the most hated British officer in the American south. I see clear similarities between Tarleton's fate at The Hook to his justifications of the Waxhaw Massacre. After the Yorktown siege, General Washington hosted a reception and invited all senior British officers except for Colonel Tarleton.
BTW, my father would be born on the 153rd anniversary of the battle less than 30 miles from the battle site.

For some reason the update reminders slipped off my screen, so I came looking! The story is really moving along the years now. Great to have such history also near you home haunts, even if it has a grim edge to it. The only battle sites near my home are the inevitable ones from HOI3 where we get attacked like clockwork by Japan in WW2!

Thank you for replying. In 1780-1, my county not only hosted Tarleton but that are stories that Arnold raided. Further back, my county is probable site of Capt. John Smith/Pocahontas/Chief Powhatan adventure. In 1676, Nathaniel Bacon after burning Jamestown came to my county where he died of illness and was secretly buried by the Parish Minister (what would be the correct term in 1676 minister, priest, rector?). After Bacon's death, Augustine Warner (county resident, George Washington's great great grandfather) filed for reparations and won a communion set. Warner donated the service to the parish that harbored Bacon because his parish already had a communion service. Civil war fortifications can be seen from major highway (less than twenty-five yards) where they were built atop Tarleton's fortifications.

Late May 1300 Between the Swiss Alps and the Cantabrian Mountains

Admiral @diskoerekto assigns Lt. JKC1776 to transport the Amazing Adventurous Readers across the Bay of Biscay to the northern Iberian shore. This was a reward for his sinking the Shipwright during the recent siege. Furthermore, Lt. JKC1776 would circle the Iberian peninsula and pick up the AAReaders on the eastern coast to transport them to Dyrrachion. @DensleyBlair witnesses Princess Georgia giving the young Lt. a big hug saying that it was from his mother. While climbing the mountain roads, the AAReaders come upon two men wearing Friends 20yr Reunion shirts. Joey and Chandler explain that their wagon had a broken wheel. Capt. Guillermo dispatches a cavalry squadron to aid the stranded Friends. Chandler says that the worst part of reunions is seeing how old everyone has gotten. Joey interrupts, everyone but Rachel as she has gotten hotter since going brunette.

1 June 1300 León, León

The León and Castille Kingdom enters the top five as #3 with 232 holdings in 65 counties. This represents a gain of 5 spots and 78 holdings. León and Castille spreads from the Bay of Biscay through much of central and western Iberia into North Africa. The dual monarchy follows agnatic-cognatic gavelkind succession. Fourth quarter timeline for the León and Castille Kingdom:

2 October 1272 4yo Salvador d'Ivrea inherits The León and Castille Kingdom after his 36yo father King Munio is forced to abdicate.
13 March 1274 A faction replaces 5yo King Salvador as Castille King in favor of his 30yo uncle Guillermo d'Ivrea.
10 February 1287 43yo King Guillermo dies of poor health. His 23yo son Gonzalo inherits The Castille Kingdom.
8 December 1295 27yo King Salvador of León defeats his 32yo cousin King Gonzalo of Castille to reclaim The Castille Kingdom.
31yo Castillian Catholic King Salvador is a patient Thrifty Clerk (8-10-9-5-9). He wears the crown of two kingdoms, a duchy and a county (room for five more holdings). His vassals include fifteen dukes, five counts and three barons. King Salvador is trying to burn off twenty-two bad boy points that has earned him the ire of Muslims and Christians. King Salvador has a eighteen thousand man army to ensure peace in the realm.

Top 21 Realms with a Catholic Ruler:

#1 646 holdings Holy Roman Empire
#3 232 holdings León Kingdom
#5 180 holdings Byzantine Empire
#7 147 holdings England Kingdom
#9 132 holdings Ireland Kingdom

Early June 1300 Northern Iberia

@Thaiga tells @Kazanov that Spot would like to ferry him across the Mediterranean Sea. @Eurasia invites Byzantine diplomat @Flinteroon to join the AAReaders' voyage the Med. @Flinteroon and Princess Georgia are distant cousins and spend the voyage sharing family news.

THANK YOUs: To Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer for being Friends.

To @Thaiga for CK2AGOT - Breaker of Chains and Mother of Dragons, a beautiful introduction to the characters. This was begun in April.
To @Flinteroon for After the Fall, a brand new tale of the Byzantine Empire.
To @diskoerekto for portraying Admiral François Joseph Paul de Grasse, His defeat of the British navy in the Battle of the Chesapeake would be a major factor in Washington's victory at Yorktown.
To Everyone for reading and commenting.
NEXT: This concludes our 1300 study of the top five. We will do a final wrap up in Dyrrachion.

CONTEST: We have two drop outs in 1325 top five. All of the top five nations continue with same culture/religion leaders in 1325. Only one of the top five leaders will live to see 1325.

1-2) Name the two drop outs.
3-4) Name the two newcomers.
5) Name the surviving leader.

Quite an impressive sequence and reunification by an AI character! Starting to look quite a bit like the later Spain of OTL.

Thank you for commenting. It is more Castille before the Iberian wedding with a large amount of northwest Africa. Aragon and HRE are in the East with Portugal in the West. When King Salvador inherited, there were three living ex-kings. This is León's first trip to the leader board.

I did not initially imagine an AAR in such a style would actually crack me up the way it did. I'm thoroughly enjoying this read. :D
Thank you very much. Avon has been described as one of the most unique AARs on the from. Please stick around, you have a role in the next adventure.

I just finished binge reading all 18 pages. It's been a very fun and interesting read, and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that spends hours looking at the various AI realms and at the ledger.

1-2) Name the two drop outs.
I'm gonna take a wild guess and say one of the drop outs is Leon-Castile and the other is Mongol-Tartaria.
5) Name the surviving leader.
For this one I had a tough time guessing, but I'm gonna say Rajasthan is still alive.

Thank you very much for reading. If you dig into the AI, dozens of fascinating stories can be found. I am extremely honored to be the source of your first comment. As to your guesses, I owe you one research project. Leon remains #3 though with a different junior partner. Mongol and Tartaria have separated with both in 6 to 10. Samrat Ayeshah II dies in 1318 from severe stress. On research, I have played until December 1346. Fun tidbit that I found while looking at game when I finished, the Pope is no longer a land owner. Between 1300 and 1325, he gave Rome away with it being claimed by a major power between 1325 and 1346. The Pope's address is still Rome.
