Surviving Mars had an expansion last year, and a hotfix update just a few days ago.
Thank you, what you wrote is correct. I wasn't there in the forum for 2-3 days. I just checked the bug forum and missed the newest update from yesterday. I own the DLC. Since then the game has been completely bugged. Initially, the developers corresponded well with the fans. But it kept getting worse.

I think the last reaction came in mid-December with the last patch. Since then I didn't know what was being worked on. Now, suddenly and unexpectedly, a patch appears. I'm happy about that, but that doesn't change the bad communication. I won't touch the game again until the worst bugs are fixed.

Maybe I'm just upset because there are problems with the games I'd like to play, sorry.

Surviving Mars had a rough journey as there was a change in developers. I agree that we have to see if the new devs are serious about supporting the game long-term.

Arheo is now Game Director for HOI IV, so I am not optimstic about an Imperator revival.

I really miss IR's old community, the feeling of waking up every Monday waiting to see the new DD, witnessing how this game was being updated. All of this was a unique experience, the first Ive ever felt within a game. Its a tragedy that its no more.
I still have hope... that one day I will see a new DD.

So:
- How long since it was announced the game would be frozen?
- When is the next PDX event? (last year they had a one-afternoon event around March and then the PDXcon at... June/July?)
We may get more info then.

It's dead. I've not known many modern games with 1k average players have the entire development team reallocated to elsewhere in a company, only for that game to be revived. The only games that have been revived after development stopped are classics like Quake and AOE II. The wording of the PR release about Imperator being put on hold etc was to temper the anger of the fanbase.

There will be a Q&A with CO's later this month and on Twitter users have an opportunity to ask questions for it, and I asked about Imperator, so maybe we'll get some clarity.

If we do not get any sort of update one year into the hiatus chances of recommencing development becomes slimmer and slimmer. I:R can indeed become the new Victoria.
I think all we'll get is modders fixing the game to the best of their ability at this point.

Also, I'm not sure I want this game to get the FULL PARADOX treatment: Alt History and buttons for bonuses that aren't really connected to gameplay in any meaningful way.

Don't get me wrong I enjoy the game and I play it using the Invictus Mod, but do to less than competent releases in other games I am leery of having an official work on the game.

I would argue the 2.0 release made the game amazing. That being said I would still like PDX to continue to work on this game.

I think Imperator 2.0 is the BEST game Paradox have created in a long long time! I just fear that it would be ruined if current trends in CK III and EUIV continue.

I have put more time in the game since 2.0 came out than I did at release....about 300 hours.

After watching the year end report stream I can confirm that the thing was targeted to people that want to believe the future will be brighter than the present.

I liked it better when in the previous report they said that sales will fluctuate and not always increase.

They are betting a new ‘city skylines’ or magicka or stellaris will come from those projects they are starting. They may think that creativity and success can be engineered. I agree that the company has to stop projects that are not going anywhere way before they did but we did not get any clue on how they are going to do that.

All in all, I hope they will acknoweldge with time that they are not that good as publishers as developers of niche games with strong communities. Gems like ‘city skylines’, ‘magicka’ and ‘stellaris’ are rare and only the fruit of love, creativity and hard work. That is hard to replicate by the ratio they want to.

At the end, taking care of their franchises is a sound investment for the future of their returns. And that includes Imperator.

Hopefully yesterday speech was catered to investors and their budget is focused on improving their catalogue and less on expanding it.

I do think the same. It sounds like an "heresy" when you're talking with someone still stucked on the early versions of the game, but most of whom have played from the 2.0 tend to agree.
