Hello! I'd just like to comment that Lleida is not correctly placed ingame, as it is not part of the autonomous community of Aragón, but instead it is part of Catalonia.
Yes, Venice is indeed an island. However, the cities shown an the map are many times bigger than real life(I’m not sure the exact scale), so even if Venice the island exists, the city model would have covered it. Of course, the island could be upsized, but it’ll look just as worse as eu4 or ck3 Venice. Alternatively the city could be downsized, which would look very weird compared to other cities nearby. And, to be fair, Venice did have a continental part, Mestre, which eventually grew larger than Venice proper itself. It was already known for quite some time in 1836 that Venice was not a coastal city but an island!![]()
I agree but having at least a little island part to the city, but still with the coastal part extending, would be a better representation than coastal-only.Yes, Venice is indeed an island. I get why they do this, but it's always kind of annoying they do it at the same time they have massive overarching cultures elsewhere in the same region. And especially since large chunks of Switzerland were only annexed during and after the Napoleonic Wars so would not have that same identity by 1836 to what extent such a thing could be said to have existed.Swiss culture should not exist at all, it should be predominantly South German with corresponding percentages of French and North Italian.
The Swiss national identity is not a cultural one and this is something PDX consistently whiffs on. Acceptable in systems like EUIV where the German cultural region is more specified and includes Swiss, but not acceptable when Swiss is designed as an entirely distinct culture.I get why they do this, but it's always kind of annoying they do it at the same time they have massive overarching cultures elsewhere in the same region. Even if we accept that it's a civic identity, I still think it's kind of silly to think that associates and random neighbors they annexed just a few years earlier are going to have the same feelings as someone in Bern instantaneously. The Swiss national identity is not a cultural one and this is something PDX consistently whiffs on. Since the game starts in 1836, it's ok that Lucca is not part of Tuscany.Lucca really should be in Tuscany state region. Tuscan dialect spoken there, and historically it was annexed by Tuscany in 1847.
