Those are the compensatorial add-ons for the Beach Assets anyway. I do have the suspicion that the first "big" DLC (Bridges and Ports) has not even really started development since the promised Asset Editor is still not finished and the Console Edition is still in Limbo.

I for myself will think twice in the future if I give Colossal Studios any money anymore.
I would actually guess that it was completed a while ago. They are not releasing it because it would get voted as the worst DLC ever on Steam again. Whatever DLC they release, given the state of the game, it will get downvoted to oblivion (which, to be honest, is perfectly fair).

EDIT: to be a bit clearer, I assume the creator pack will go on the mod platform and not be released as DLCs.

EDIT 2: They are on Steam. It will be interesting to see how it goes.

But now this announcement and the reaction to the question about bikes in the podcast to bikes...all in all it becomes a little bit outrageous imho.

The moment of the question and answer is here:
And yeh... based on how he reacted it sounds like that is not on his immediate to-do list. Hopefully they can get bikes in CS2 at some point as a bike lover myself (riding around where I live) I want my cims to enjoy them as well.

No the creator packs are for sale and are in the Steam store and Windows store already as traditional DLC. They are added to those stores already. The mod platform was only for the free region packs. The first official DLC creator packs where also in the store and not the mod platform.

Also funny how she is still talking about her new city with bikes in CS1. Pretty telling that their own staff is still playing the old game :p. It is pretty sure their money maker. And not CS2.

ooooh please! am i the only one waiting for animations in this game?! I want to see firefighters putting out fires, police stopping robberies, paramedics saving lives, buildings being built! Protests if services aren't working! Simcity 4 did it in 2003! it's 2025, it should be the priority seriously!
I know it's not a popular opinion but honestly the asset editor doesn't interest me. above all, i want a game that is pleasant to watch, a game with an economy that works.
Me three. I'm a builder, not a painter. First and foremost I want a simulation that works and makes sense. It's probably a bit OT for this thread but given how rabid some people are about the asset editor it's worth saying anyway.

My game pc was in the repair shop for over 4 months, and with a bit of luck I’ll be receiving it again this weekend. The good thing that happens for me at least is that we’ll get a rx 9070 xt, as the repair took ridiculously long. Also they included a cpu upgrade. Can’t wait to try out CSII on the new rig with all of the new region packs. And, hopefully, a substantial patch (that at least fixes homelessness).

We don't usually post the patch notes until the patch is out, and like I saw someone else comment, sometimes there are last-minute changes, so we will wait until that version is out before we post the Patch Notes.

We shared as much as we can about the Asset Editor on Thursday, and as to Bridges & Ports, all we can say is that we're working on it (as unsatisfying as that both is to hear as it is to say). More news will come as soon as we can share it!

So lemme see if I understand correctly.

For the 10th anniversary of the series, you guys:

-Produced content for the 1st game instead of focusing all hands on the second game (I don't care about the "They're creator packs" excuse- they still require effort from CO)

-Are celebrating the release of already-owed content like it's a big new thing you're giving us as a special gift, when the fact is it's content you legally owe players

-Have no release date for content that was owed a full calendar year ago and purchased a year and a half ago, despite it supposedly releasing very soon, essentially soft delaying the content instead of owning up to yet another delay and simply telling us it's delayed again

-Still aren't making any effort to do that more-and-better communication we were promised by THE CEO OF THE COMPANY

-Did a livestream where the hosts didn't answer questions and were frustrated with viewers over the ones they *did* answer

-Are launching a paid subscription service for the original game rather than simply lowering the price of the content, both of which are designed to draw players to the game you are supposedly no longer actually supporting, further increasing the gap in CS1 versus CS2 players, which has always been in CS1s favor and grows more in its favor each day

Are we to draw any conclusion from this whatsoever beyond "Cities Skylines 2 is a failed product and we have no intention of properly supporting it"?

No news on the asset editor. No news on the console versions. No news on content people paid for a year and a half ago and have been owed for a year. A paid subscription service for a 10 year old game, competing with yourselves against your newest title. Is this a month early april fools joke?

I appreciate the update! It may not have all of our wishlist items but it definitely has some.

I’ll choose to focus on the good. It’s great to see you guys releasing the 3 additional CCPs, as well as some new content that’s free for all Mayors.

I look forward to the upcoming patch next Monday and plopping cool new assets.

For a 10th anniversary, there's no excitement, and even less enthusiasm. I get the impression that everyone around is totally tired of what's happening with CS2 and is sick of it, with Paradox and CO at the forefront.

No one should be expecting substantial updates directly from CO until the asset editor and console version is out, and those will be worked on indefinitely until they are ready. It was already made clear that these were the priority items, so why would anyone expect features like bikes, new animations, or major DLCs? Even the stuff they have a quarter release window for should be treated as indefinite. This is why we have, and will likely continue to get, only content created by third parties and minor fixes and QOL features. Like it or not, this is how it is.

Problem is a lot of people have paid for the delivery of the Bridges and Ports DLC pre-release and are still waiting for the delivery of said product for a year now.

The now to be release new content packs have been created by third-parties and as compensation for the botched Beach Properties DLC. The interesting part is: Beach Properties was developed in-house apparently (no mention of any creator), the new ones are not.

In addition to that: a number of modder content packs have been release for free on paradox mods but I stumbled upon a CO Word of the Week in which the statement can be found that the creation and distribution of these content packs hinge on the Asset Editor.

I am a very patient man always trying to see both sides of the coin but I am definitely loosing trust here and feel another Star Trek Infinite coming.

And the other problem for me are the technical issues of CS1 because of it's age - biggest one: no multicore support!
That's funny as I see a utilization of 6 to 8 cores at my (edit: too early in the morning; it actually is a 5900x). Must be the consequence of mods then, I assume (haven't played the vanilla unmodded version in years).

Hmm no you are right:
I was sure this was the main problem with cities skylines 1 when to many mods added / or cities too big. Sorry, i didn't want to spread fake news

I didn't see the whole video but only the moment in which this specific question is asked and the subsequent answer.

The problem here in my opinion is not so much the answer, in which I don't see anything wrong, but the context and the situation in which it is said.

The giggles and the very cold and empty answer can mean everything and nothing. If they had given them in a normal context in which the game's release had gone well, the contractual promises kept, with the asset editor ready, etc., then I wouldn't have given them weight... But in a disastrous and failed context like the current one, seeing certain giggles and hearing that answer annoys me and makes me even more nervous...

Have you seen his facial expression?

His eyes started wandering around looking for an answer.

Bikes currently are so much not on their plate...

Ahuauhauhauh I won't do a psychological study on his non-verbal language, but rolling your eyes can generally mean that you are looking for an answer to give and not necessarily what you give is a lie.

The problem, I repeat, always lies in the context and situation in which we have these answers, which tell us nothing. Because it is not normal that after a year and a half (apart from some roundabouts and water tanks) we have not had anything new in terms of game mechanics, animations, textures, resource editors... and we cannot even say "ok, they gave us one of these things, so they focused on that work and succeeded, little by little they will also introduce other things...", we have absolutely nothing that has been done by CO. So, in a context like this, a disastrous and depressing situation in which we do not have assiduous and concrete communications, seeing this video with giggles and banal and bare-bones answers can only make you nervous and annoyed even more.

And unfortunately I am increasingly convinced that after "Bridges & Port", which they are forced to release due to contractual obligations, then everything will close.

That's right, and they were supposed to be released "soon" after the release (which, as we now know was impossible as the asset editor was far from ready). But last quarter, PDX announced they found a "workaround" (their word) to do without the asset editor, so they could release these region packs they subcontracted to different former CS1 modders. This workaround include some work from PDX on each and every asset so it won't be applied to the third-party modders work so we're still waiting on the asset editor to enjoy a full out of beta modding support.
