Thats the problem with them everytime, they don't even need to say whats in the patch they just need to say ''it will contain new feauteres (or not), bug fixes and 10 new birthday assets'' but they prefer to keep radio silence so people keep speculating and sh**, I don't know whats the point on this miscommucation tbh
Hi antoni0g,
now I somehow think this will be one of the three promised radio stations for EU buyers: Radio Silence.

It features smashing hits like "Mime", "Mute", "The silence between Piano plays" and "Our Communication".

Best regards,
sys

It could also be as you say. Personally I don't really like simulation and management games on consoles, but these are personal tastes and maybe many people think the opposite and therefore there will be many sales on consoles.

I don't want to be inconsistent, so I don't feel like saying that I won't buy any DLC in the future, especially if it's well done and if it can give hours of extra fun, but I WILL DEFINITELY NEVER BUY ANYTHING IN ADVANCE from CO and Paradox.
However, as I was saying, I see this as a very remote option at the moment, a very utopian future, given that we are in the situation we all know.

Never buy IN ADVANCE? You're still going to buy AT ALL?

I can't imagine going through this experience again with another game. I will never buy anything from this company ever again as long as I live, this is easily, easily, easily the absolute worst customer experience I've ever had in my life. Forget advance! You'd have lived through this same debacle even if you bought day of release! Or 2 months later! Or a full year later! You'd still be living this horrible experience of no communication, no patches, no content, no gameplay upgrades, no meaningful development, no respect, and no refunds!

I am watching.

Summary: so far questions about the editor, optimizations, bugs are 'we are working on it and we released a statement last week about this. We won't say anything more about this.'

All other questions from chat are ignored so far. :D
God, finally. Of course, the implementation is far from perfect, but finally there was a broadcast where there was at least some interaction. I thank the CO for this, but what were they thinking when they deleted the questions in the comments? I mean, for 1.5 years of the game's existence, they don't know how to answer the simplest questions, like bicycles? Then I have a question what they have been doing for these 1.5 years and whether Paradox has somehow influenced them after the negative, but still not a failure start of CS2, although this game will not earn money on DLC in the long run. Because as I see it, for some reason, the top management of CO has not been changed and they continue to make not the best decisions for the game. What is strange, but this is their game, I will just move on to the alternative as it appears, so honestly it's just interesting, without unnecessary emotions, just to understand why it all happened.
But once again, I thank CO for the broadcast, I hope there will be more in the future, but they will already prepare for it

Obviously we are talking about CS and Paradox here, but the discussion can be extended in general to all games and all producers. If I didn't buy a game in advance I usually didn't buy it on the day of release but after some time, so I had the chance to look for information and get a more precise idea before a possible purchase...so, if I hadn't bought UE before (thanks to the great enthusiasm I had for my passion for CS and city builders) I would never have bought this very disappointing CS2. Obviously after this extremely negative experience I will never buy any game in pre-order, especially nothing, absolutely nothing and no DLC from CO and Paradox.

This DLC has been postponed 4 times so could you please clarify your post? Which one is it:

* We can't give you a release date as we're still working on it but rest assured it will be released Q2 2025, no more postponings.

* We can't give you a release date as we're still working on it but it could be postponed again.

Considering Q2 2025 is the date given everywhere the UE edition is sold, it's a very different situation than the asset editor, the bikes or the animations.
Will there be an answer from Cities: Skylines Official to clarify their official stance or should we draw our own conclusions?

Ir's the same list since 2023, repeated day after day: less bugs, fixed simulation mechanics, more optimization, the asset editor. And yes, bikes and animations. Oh and more honest communication. I'm only talking about the most obvious reasons so much people write a bad review on Steam.

That’s not a totally fair assessment. There were many other things on that list that have been addressed (albeit imperfectly).

1. Smaller Service Buildings
2. In Game Line Tool
3. Region Packs
4. Additional Roads
5. Props
6. Sub Building Enhancements
7. Simulation Difficulty

Yes, there are many other items that remain unaddressed and the lack of communication is hard to understand but no level of transparency will satisfy the average Mayor on this forum. Only outcomes will.

I think many players of Cities Skylines are not the typically "gamers"*, so many of us haven't many experience with bad releases - even its sadly pretty common in the gaming industry as you said.
I was definitly hyped too and i have no idea why i brought a game before release - you now it's not on a disc so it will never sold out :) And to be honest i am little bit upset of the youtubers i believed even if i know that not totally independent from Colossal Order and PDX. They helped a lot to start the hype and did their best to let people belive that Colossal Order will fix it.
Looking forward to see videos of City Planner Plays, Biffa and so on next Week - pretty suprised there are no videos for the anniversary from them.

I think i am only here because i just don't want to realize that CS2 is maybe never fixed - and i deleted CS1 for space on my hard drive and deleted all save games - so not very much motivation to go back.

Sorry for the negative post and bad english because of my feelings i guess...i am just..little bit upset and realizing the real situation. At the end it's only a game and the money is gone anyway. I'am sorry for Colossal Order too - i am looked at the facebook page of CO and man, the old pics from 2012-15 are so heartwarming, wholesome and real and without..marketing crap :)

Something funny about this comparison is No Man's Sky has never had one DLC or piece of paid content. Not One. Every update has been free and a recognition they want to improve their game for the players. That's why NMS is now overwhelmingly positive on steam. CO will never have this kind of turnaround because it's a fundamental way they look at their players - as a money tree.

Imagine if a game like BG3 had 30 DLC packs for different encounters/cosmetics in game. It could have been the highest revenue game of all time but instead, they made games for their players, not their wallets.
No Man’s Sky didn’t have a choice. Their game was substantially worse than Cities Skylines 2. Not to mention that I’ve recently played it and NMS is still really repetitive and bland.

I also wanted to add that I’m kinda hopeful for CSII. You are probably right that I’m on some kind of copium, but I just want to believe this game will be, probably already is, the best city simulator at the moment. It has so much potential. Especially when the asset editor releases, there will be no creative limitations. Also, it seems that we are getting closer and closer to a stable game. At least we’ll see next Monday. I haven’t been able to play at all over the past 5 months, due to a pc error, and somewhere in the next week I’ll be able to get my hands on all of the region packs at once, and the initial content creator packs and the new fixes. Kinda looking forward to that!
The only thing we can probably agree on that it is inconceivable how CO or Paradox is incapable of clearly communicating. I will keep advocating for more communication.

10 Years of CS 1 - Firstly - happy Anniversary. I really loved CS 1 and enjoyed playing it.

Unfortuntaley I was hoping for something on the 10 year anniversary
On a day where we all should have been logging on to the game and celebrating 10 yrs of CS 1 .....nothing much happened

I was really hoping to see videos from all the main Content creators like CPP , Biffa, Few Candy, Overcharged Egg , Timeister , Infrastructrulist etc - all of them showing us the new things and celebrating these pasty 10 yrs.

What happened?

No videos , nothing, 10 years came and went and a massive opportunity to re-connect with us (IMO) has been missed.

I would have loved to have celebrated the day in a different way to what actually happened, now all i will remeber of the 10 yrs anniversary will be this.

I mean the dates were clear, something should and could have been set up months in advance , with an initial target for 2 weks prior to the Bday event, so all the Content Creators would be prepared, is this what was planned? and due to some unforseen problem everything had to be pushed back to the 18th?

regarding the state of the game , I dont know what to say, I guess many of the posts are out of frustration, many ppl just want the game to be fixed and I think would really love for it to be a success.

animatrions may be a small thing or big I don't know but that would give a lot of ppl satisfaction to see them back in the game .

For me , the amount of bugs in the game just put me off playing it, plus due to the face it seems that many bugs seem to get lost in translation or simply do not get passed on to CO - it takes alot of time and patience to sumbit a bug report and methinks many ppl just give up - of course its just pure speculation.

Is there any way that we as a Comminity can help?

I would love to help in any way...become a tester maybe?...playing the game and informing CO of what buildings have what problems..please let us know

Sorry if the post seems a bit mixed in positivity and dissapointment, it's just where I am at the moment, somewhere where I have never been with a game before and I realise that its out of having expectations and hoping that CS 2 gets better, simply because I loved CS 1 soo much and when the sequel came out I left CS 1 (uninstalled it) and then tried to play CS 2 .

Long post sorry again, to conclude please let us know if maybe a bunch of us could help with the bugs re testing and helping you guys- anything to take the workload off...even if its small things.

I think we all want the same thing, for this game to fulfill its massive potential and become the greatest city builder ever.

Feedback to game play CS 2 - what we got- i may have misse d a few

Unlimited outide connections - great - massive help
road builder - wow this is really cool
Line tool - yes please
Bigger maps - much larger vanilla maps
New points system - very nice change
Mixed Zoning - really love this

cS2 what I would like
Animations
Bikes
Bug fixes - in regular time schedule- the amount of bug reports seems to have more than doubled
Optimization - less character details in exchange for more cpu

What if they don’t know whether they will release or postpone it yet?
That's the second choice: "it could be postponed again". And it would be outrageous which is why I don't think we'll have an answer which in itself is outrageous. We're not talking about some empty promise on facebook or X, it's a contractual commitment they already broke 4 times without offering refunds. What they're doing is illegal, plain and simple. You take the money, you have to deliver or refund your customer. Bad enough they did this in 2023 but they never stopped doing it all along 2024. And now, they can't even answer a simple question about the Q2 2025 delivery?

Here's the french law about deliveries delays, on the Ministry of Finance site: https://www.economie.gouv.fr/dgccrf...quelles-sont-les-obligations-du-professionnel I'm sure there are similar laws in pretty much all countries where CS II is sold. Not only should they have refunded partly or totally the UE buyers for more than a year but they should even pay a majoration according to the lateness of the refund:

Le professionnel doit rembourser le consommateur de la totalité des sommes versées, au plus tard dans les 14 jours suivants la date de dénonciation du contrat. Tout retard entraîne une majoration de plein droit de la somme à rembourser qui s’établit comme suit :
  • 10 % de la somme pour un retard inférieur ou égal à trente jours
  • 20 % de la somme pour un retard allant de trente jours à soixante jours ;
  • 50 % au-delà de soixante jours de retard.

The professional must reimburse the consumer for all sums paid, at the latest within 14 days of the date of termination of the contract. Any delay entails an automatic increase in the amount to be reimbursed, which is as follows: 10% of the amount for a delay of less than or equal to thirty days 20% of the sum for a delay of between thirty and sixty days; 50% if it is more than sixty days late.

Any company can make money with pre-payments, passes, subscriptions etc. Nothing's wrong with that, they don't force you to pay for anything. But they have to comply to the consumer laws and more generally to respect their customers. This include Paradox, Valve and any company selling the UE and the Game pass. CO is another case as they don't sell CS so they don't have any legal obligation to the buyers of the game, only some moral ones (though part of their communication may be considered as false advertising, which is also illegal but that's another story).

Ubisoft made a fortune with Anno 1800 and 4 consecutive years of DLCs with among others a subscription system, pre-payments, passes etc. A boatload of cosmetics and mechanics you could pick and choose or collect 'em all. None was late. None. PDX, get your act together.

Honestly, I really hope that some other studio that does not belong to Paradox will release its own urban planning simulator. Because the way they are developing CS2 is just terrible. In my game about cities, I have only one small tram depot for 15 trams, and that's for two tram lines at best. And there are a lot of little things like that in the game. And it's not clear that the developers are thinking about anything in this vein, listening to the wishes of the players, they have their own vision, which, as recent reviews show, is completely wrong. Maybe if they have a competitor, something will come of it. Although SimCity 2013 just died, so...

Yeah there have been a lot of improvements. The surface tools, performance enhancements, DLSS support and even other things you didn't mention. It is a long list of minor and major additions and changes.

But the big problem for me and a lot of people (and the reason why everyone stays angry all the time since release): they throw new stuff out there and then leave it linger. For every item on your list and the extra things I mentioned, I can easily point out major bugs/issues that stay unfixed for months or longer. Then we get even more new stuff, with results in even a longer list of issues.

And then we get a patch that fixes a few things, break other things and we are left in the dark what is happening with all the other issues that never seem to be fixed or addressed. And what happens: we don't play until the next patch and have many hopes that stuff will be fixed then, we write bad reviews, frustrated posts or uninstall.

If they (CO and Paradox) ever want to turn the tide of this game, they really have to start with weekly hotfixes like all developers (big and small) do these days and a public beta channel to iron out all these things before release of patches. But so far, they like keep doing things like it is 2015. A game where the core feature is simulation, bugs kill the whole experience and are impossible to ignore. But for some reason they don't seem to care.

In other news: they unlisted their anniversary live stream on YouTube :D

You can easily build two right?
If the map is not just a flat plain, it is often difficult and in my city there are 3 depots for 5 routes. This is absolutely not realistic. But this is a matter of simply balancing the numbers of depot characteristics. But this is a small example of how they don't fix such little things, let alone the real problems of the game.

Its unfortunate that so little information is given regarding the patch next monday. But the last patch was 91 days ago, 98 days next week week. I'm not including the htofix from january.
We should at least expect a pretty big gameplay & performance patch next week.
I really hope this will be a start of gameplay patches like the detailers patch.
I feel like all of the city painters got their fair share of love, but all of the micro managers are left out basically.
