I know it's nothing really strange, as it's all my doing, but still funny - piratical republic, who owns one cardinal in Iceland (conquered them looong ago just to raid GB, cardinal was assigned to me randomly) and overall only three provinces in Europe (Slesvig trading smuglers company for raiding north parts), spending lavishly on indulgences get's their cardinal elected Pope just to stick it into the eyes of those selfrighteous Iberians we broke of centuries before
UPD: Forgot to add - I am also Defender of Faith. Very pious pirate

In the final years of Augusta I's 43-year reign, she was without heirs, and some member of the Royal House of Portugal (de Borgonha family) would inherit the crown of the Anglo-French Union. However, Parliament and the Queen decided on the adoption of Robert Browne, an scion of the Plantagenets who inhabited the Scottish highlands. In 1502, Robert ascended the throne as a Highland Scottish, unusual for kings more connected to Southern English culture.

But seriously, just the phrase 'Piratical expatriates are sough-after for positions of trust, as our people are known for adherence to duty and rejecting attempted bribes' makes it all golden. Thanks PDX for this gem of a game

UPD - this is getting ridiculous
WE? DOES NOT? HAVE THE 'SEAFARING EFING CULTURE'!!!!

Probably pretty mild by the standards of this thread, but I can't say I've ever personally seen AQ do this well w/out player intervention. They're even on the great powers list - and they've kinda hamstrung the Turks.

Not that uncommon for Ottomans to Ally AQQ, and then AQQ growing like that.

Allying the Ottomans, sure - I knew they like to do that because I had to restart several Trebizond attempts because of it - however it seems like they usually end up, if not dying, then stagnating in the caucuses in my games, but I'll take your word for it.
