On the second round of boarding combat, we killed another 140 of the Modron crew while losing another 8 marines.

Total losses:

Them - 245
Us - 16

One of the ships being boarded, Sarthe 006, just took an internal hit.

Presumably this is an explosion set off by the boarding combat itself.

The ship does not - at least on this occasion - explode.

Why are we taking 5 seconds increment turns?

We would just be interrupted anyway if we tried to take a longer turn. The two Sarthes are firing all of their armament at the ESN Radiant Joy, Spinal and secondary, the different calibres have different reload cycle times and the two Sarthes came out of jump shock on different increments.

Relax.

... immediately after the third round of combat, the Modron's RADAR went off-line and has not yet come back on.

Without a RADAR lock they can't shoot.

I wonder if that "BANG!" we heard came from the RADAR room?

Zaxed also sounds like "Saxad" in Swedish - "scissored" - so they got cut.
Lmao! Scissored is something else entirely. If you don't know what it is, be aware that searching for it is NSFW( not safe for work and/or not safe for wife)

Yeah... it's been an entire minute and the Modrons haven't turned a RADAR back on or fired another shot.

They're blind.

In the fourth round of combat the Modrons lose 115 more crew (total 476) and we lose another 4 marines (total 25).

In the fifth combat round, Sarthe 005 is captured by our boarding party!

The fighting still rages on Sarthe 006.

There is a second internal explosion on Sarthe 006, but again the ship itself does not blow up.

Combat continues.

Tactical, Mechanus star system - The battle is over.

Why are there still SRAM missiles in this picture?

Tactical, Neutral Zone - only the two immobilized Sarthe remain, both have our marines aboard.

At the one minute and twenty second mark, the first of the Sarthes comes out of jump shock and opens fire... on the ESN Radiant Joy.

Looks like my team gets to perform an important task after all: Soaking enemy fire :D

Even at a range of over half a million kilometers, being shot at by one of those Sarthe is not a pleasant experience.

And you're not even aboard the Joy :)
Really it's not a big deal though. We have shields :)

Curious that the other one doesn't have radar on.

Here if you scissor something you steal it.
Like, e.g. if you post something you might say you scissored it from elsewhere, to state its not your own.
No idea what the US meaning is, and sounds like I don't want to know.

Both of the Sarthe have been successfully boarded and captured by our Marines!

The Battle of Mechanus Jump is over!

Woo!
Did the main guns survive, or were they wrecked in the battle?

Doesn't really matter, if they got damaged we'll repair them before we scrap them.

Yeah, but isn't there a risk they're outright destroyed, not just damaged?

No.
I know it's weird and illogical but components are only unrepairable if the ship is wrecked entirely.

Though it may require a repair yard.

I still haven't figured out exactly when and under what conditions a homing missile is removed from the map instead of seeking a new target.

Sometimes they re-lock and change course, sometimes they just continue straight ahead pinging away, and sometimes they get immediately removed from the map with a "no targets" message. We'll need more experience to figure them out properly.

Curious that the other one doesn't have radar on.

Probably knocked out by our Emotion's fire.

So...

Should we clean up the battlefield, stack the Partystarters that are still armed in one Tender, detach a sufficiently strong force to go clean out Phi Arietis...

... and send the rest of the fleet to smash the Modron shipyards?

What other fleets are there in the Mechanus system? Will the defeat of this fleet trigger the Modron reordering all their other fleets to Mechanus?

Also, Marines inflicting casualties on crew on a 9-to-1 basis? Sounds like Warhammer 40k Space Marines there.
