After playing a few games and reading over the form here I've come up with some territorial adjustments. This are simply some suggestions from a combination of history and game balancing. I'd like to hear what you think.

Africa
-Spain should lose some territory here. Germany should come into possession of Fort-Lamy and everything south that is currently Spanish owned (except Bata), as well as Parakou and Porto-Novo in the west. Italy should also receive Largeau and Tibesti.

Americas Big shake up here...
-Independent "Greater" Venezuela encompassing all the territories currently owned by Spain in SA. German puppet
-A even larger Argentina encompassing all of Paraguay, eastern Bolivia (Perseverancia and Santa Cruz) and Mato Grosso from Brazil. German ally
-A smaller Chile that encompasses Chile Proper plus western Bolivia (Sucre, Riberalta, and La Paz). Japanese ally
-Independent "Grand" Peru encompassing Peru Proper, Equator, Colombia (expect Barranquilla which stays Japanese), western Brazil stopping at Porto Velho and Cobija from northern Bolivia. Japanese puppet
-Independent "punished" Brazil encompassing the remaining Brazilian land occupied by Japan and Germany (except Recife which stays German). Japanese ally

Love it. My original goal with SA was just try to split things up based on the map of the original Tomorrow the World however, what you are suggesting makes sense and would open some interesting opportunities for events down the road.

Europe
-Spain should lose colonial possessions in Caribbean (except Cuba) and Reunion (perhaps given to Italy)

I don't disagree. I didn't put too much thinking into this area outside of placing counties under Axis control.

-Independent "Greater" Croatia encompassing Bosnia. Events for a conference where Germany, Italy and Hungary argue for mastership of the puppeted Croatia.
-Germany claims Chur, perhaps even Trento. Italy renounces claim on Chur.
-Events for the partition, claiming or independence of Serbia. Eg. Germany grants independence or is given and governed by Croatia, Bulgaria, Italy or Romania.
-Should Italy feel that they have been significantly territorial stiffed (in Serbia or Croatia), Italy should leave the Axis.

As this area of the world is not a potential battlefield like middle east or America, I think it would be best to leave this for down the road. However, would be good to have a chain of events where the potential for Italy to leave the Axis takes place.

Asia
-Japan should own some territory along the Chinese coast.

Agreed and done based on feedback I got earlier. I now have Japan starting with Shanghhai area, Fuzhou and Guangzhou. Update to come this weekend.

-Shanghai should be Japanese owned and should be a possible location for a independent Israel.

Agreed on ownership as per above, however, why a possible location for Israel? I don't disagree but is it for coolness factor or historical?

-Pakistan and Afghanistan should be owned by either India or Germany.

My thinking is that the support for an independent Pakistan/Afg would be part of a chain that could lead to war in '48. However, are you suggesting that they be free at the begin the scenario liberate or I should just consider them at some point?

-India should perhaps even be depuppted as they severely lack resources.

All the puppets are lacking resources. In my test game, Texas does not sent me oil :confused:

This is what I've come up with so far just from looking over the map for a really long time. I'd like to hear what you think. I do realize that it could substantially change the game so I don't have an illusions that you'll agree with everything or even anything.

Question for you. You mentioned Israel above, what do you think of the event chain as it exist now with Madagasscar, Yemen or German East Africa as possible homelands? I am planning to expand the chain where Japan can choose to not work with Germany and set up a homeland closer to home.
 
If you're interested there's a nation called Iberia which has both Spanish and Portuguese ministers--it is U28 and if you give a regular_id = U28 to both Spain and Portugal in the inc files they'll join with no loss of units. Otherwise suggest regular_id = SPA in the Portugal inc file so that the units become Spanish.

I have to tell you this was a genius endeavor. Bravo to both you and nomonhan for all the work you've done.

Your current Israeli homeland chain-events are great. I actually had no idea that it was possible to release a nation over a number of different locations. It was a very smart setup. For the Jewish state events, say Germany wants to work together with Japan then perhaps the most likely locations for Israel are in Africa. But if Japan goes it alone then Yemen, or as I suggest Shanghai, should become the Jewish state. The reason I suggest Shanghai is from Japan's historical 1938 Fugu Plan to invite Jews to Japanese controlled land for the assumed benefit of Japans industry.

Both Manchuria and Shanghai were options. But it seems that some military leaders in Japan wanted to keep Manchuria as a special spot for just Japanese colonialists. With Shanghai's historical Jewish population it furthermore became the obvious location. At their highest numbers, Jews numbered around 20,000. They were kept in Hongkou District in what would come to be called the Shanghai ghetto.

As for everything else mentioned...

I just suggested a limited Spanish empire as it would have been extremely strenuous for Nationalist Spain (which had just overcome one of the most brutal civil wars of all time) to then pull together its divided people, shattered infrastructure, and dilapidated industry to then cross oceans and rule over other substantial and proud foreign nations.
A west African empire - absolutely.
A Latin American empire - dubious.
But for the purposes of the game I do understand where your coming from. Especially if your planning to unite the brother Iberian states together. I'd say let Spain keep its west African empire and Cuba but give everything else to Germany. The union of Portugal and Spain will still give Franco the colonial empire of his dreams

The Italian stuff I mention is really just flavor and perhaps game balancing. I totally agree with you that other areas deserve more attention such as the Americas. Just keep Italy/German territorial and colonial issues in mind for the future. It could always help balance a Japanese-German conflict...

In that case definitely bombers for Japan and Rockets for Germany and yes they could have easily gone into space by the end of the 40's

I should elaborate here. I mean from a nuclear delivery point of view. I'm planning to have events to give both Japan and Germany the means to deliver nuclear weapons however, I'm trying to decide which means would be best. Bombers for both early on? Then missiles? I'm not familiar with Japanese rocket/missile historical development however, Germany's was impressive.

Uninterrupted and well funded, what do you think the Germans would have achieved in the immediate post war years. I remember reading that at the rate of technological growth in rocket technology, Germany, had it prevailed in the war and had the will to pursue it (financially), could have been to space before the end of the 40s.
 
Based on the feedback here, I've made some changes that I will release soon.

1. Gave German Mittelafrika back to Germany as Spanish territory in this area was too much.

2. Got the event working for Spain and Portugal unity

3. Big Changes in S. America based on the recommendations here:
- Smaller Brazil, Japanese Ally
- Larger Argentina, German Ally
- Smaller Chile, Japanese Ally
- Greater Peru, Japanese Puppet,
- Greater Venezuela, German Puppet

4. Now have 2 "setup" events dealing with Japan. The player can chose to start the scenario with Chinese coastal territories and also annex South Eastern Manchukuo (Korean border).

5. Also made the recommended changes to industry in the former Soviet Union. Thanks nomonhan!

Are you going to stick to your plan of having Spain inherit Portugal rather than morphing it into Iberia? I assume so based on your comments. However would suggest regular_id = SPA in Portugal's inc file. There's no reason for Spain to not inherit the military units.

On another note, I notice that Leningrad (St Petersburg) is Finnish. This was a hotly debated issue in the Fatherland forum. I decided to give it back to Germany and have the possibility of giving it to Finland later. It could be one way for Germany to build a "kinder, gentler image", should it choose to do so.

I did. Spain inherits Portugees units (next update). I have no issue with morphing into Iberia however, don't know how to do that at this time.:wacko:

For morphing into another country, don't use the country = command. It is broken. Instead, follow this procedure

If you prefer, I can make the change into Iberia automatic with the possession and non-existence of Portugal. ( I'll probably do this in 0.22 of my mod) so you won't have to write the event at all--just decide whether to accept it or sleep it.

That would be great because my event scripting skills are a week old and very limited. I have no idea how to implement what you are suggesting.
 
Ok in version 0.22 I'll have an Iberia event series and it will be up to you to let it happen or sleep the event. In 0.22 there will be increased fireworks for Germany as I'm planning on making Fatherland events come to life, some of which are applicable to your scenario--most notably being the Generalplan_Ost series and the "traitors are alive" event. The traitors event can happen any time after May 1948 but if you prefer I can move the date up a couple of months. This can feed into the general image of Germany.

I will post an update tomorrow. I've got revolts now working in the occupied USA. Let me know if there is anything mission critical that should be included in the next update to make the mod more playable as I may have a few hours to spend on it tonight and would like to spend the time on stuff that you would like.
 
If all goes well will have an update in a couple of days, but have discovered some regular cold war issues that need my attention so I'll say ETA about 10 days.

I would never see Chile as a Japanese ally before being a German one, Why?, Chile during the first part of the XX century received a large German influence, much more than any other country in South America did. From military forces to education system the German, later Nazi, models were ,at different degrees, the rule, even to the point of forming an important Nazi party. As an example, most of the officers who graduated in the '30s and '40s (Pinochet including) were, at least, sympathetic to the Nazi and Fascist movements.
So I recommend that Chile will be a German Ally, along Argentina and Venezuela. Chile could have southern Peru provinces (Arequipa and Cuzco) and western Bolivia too (La Paz and Sucre), forming two 'hot zones' in South America. You could stimulate a South American Great War by, as Japan pressuring Peru to recover the lost provinces or as Germany, pressuring Chile to conquer the rest of Bolivia which I suppose is in Brazilian hands. It's an equilibrated solution and a good war scenario.

What about the Falklands, are in Argie's hands?

I'm not sure what your error is due to but if you are using cold war tech tree mod over arma 1.3 you have to be sure not to forget to apply its own 1.3 patch.
Also the Cold war Tech tree mod is not compatible with savegames created before it was installed.
Hope this helps.

On another note--I think the Malvinas Islands belong to Argentina since it is a German ally and the British were beaten.
