It is possible that more interesting systems and planets (with rarer planet classes, binary/trinary stars and such) will come in the future as part of an exploration-focused pack.
I sincerely hope this is explicitely scheduled AFTER Warfare and Diplomacy, because if Wiz gets sidetracked (from my perspective) again doing other content/fluff...
Yes exploration is nice, but exploration stops mid-game and fades into plain and boring warfare. So I would hope people on the forum to realize this basic issue and NOT cheer the devs on to priorizing an exploration DLC.

But eh, I'm probably fighting windmills here:

...aaaaaand it's nerfed! XD
To be fair, even the post-nerf effect you see in the screenshot is preeeeeeeeetty good.
Keep in mind it is a planet yield and thus benefits from your empire unity modifiers!

That's post nerf? It's crazy good, especially for my kind of gameplay playing tall Extreme (very few planets/rather low and homogeneous population - Lots of Galactical Wonders - yes i know, my playstyle is the opposite of all others).

NB! Edited my question I had here, since it was utterly stupid. ;)

The Tech that increases the effect to +2 unity per scientist level, Uplink Minitaurization, is a robotic empire specific tech? If so, do other kinds of empires get it unlocked by another tech?

Uplink Miniaturisation is the tech that unlocks Improved Assist Research at the moment. I'm not sure why that'd be restricted to machine only.

I personally never used assist research, never had the need: It is difficult for a planet to produce enough to influence with a 10% more the research. If it increases the production of unity, I can think of it
It's pretty good feature to level scientists. If you need lv 5 scientists for special project, you can simply put him in science ship and assist on one of your planets, then wait till his promotion.

Thinking that you know best and that everyone else should think like you is a common condition among humans.
It's a surprisingly common condition amongst non-humans, too.
But regardless, thinking that one knows best, does not actually disqualify one from knowing best.

Can you explain why you think my assumption that 'exploration only lasts until mid-game and then fades into dull warfare' is wrong though?
I feel like the communitys's oppinion on warfare is very unified in that regard (even though the proposed solutions certainly vary); we get threads complaining about the same things time and time again.
And Exploration is, as a fact, limited by the size of the galaxy. Albeit I'm willing to agree that technically it doesn't last until a semi-fixed time perior (i.e. mid-game) in all circumstances, since it depends on the actual size of the galaxy, the avaibility of routes (Warp Pacfists vs Hyperdrive Purifier) and the focus on doing Exploration (1 vs several ships).
Still, from my own gameplay experience, I would stand by the claim that Exploration is always finite and ceases being relevant at some point in the game.
Whereas warfare doesn't (you can start out all the Pacifist you like, but End Game Crisis and FE's will force you into wars sooner or later).

"The @StellarisGame 1.8 'Čapek' update will have a new map toggle that makes subjects use map color of overlord & federations use same color."

Schweet.

With this an the ability to create vassals from your own planets, the Space Holy Space Roman Space Empire shall at last become a reality.

I just realized that this might be an actual thing.
Combine Domination Tree with Charismatic and the Feudalism Civic, then proceed to make vassals instead of sectors to have them retain their 100% income, plus reduced tech costs.
This could, possibly, lead to a large blob of 'tall' empires strong enough to contest with superblob empires.

Or just fall apart because your 50 vassals decide you are not powerful to rule them, and splitting up to be eaten by the Exterminators is definitely the right way to go.

I mean, ideally an exploration-based DLC would find some way to keep exploration relevant past midgame, I mean, otherwise what's the point? I would still prefer a diplomacy/federations DLC though.

Or there might happen to be a bug that all your vassals will leave you once war in heaven starts...

That issue is being removed with 1.8, so AEs will no longer steal vassals thankfully.
But aye, 1.8 does have quite a few additions that are supposed to make Feudal and Federal Empires possible.
