- because it is a part of Utopia and Banks. It is a reference to one of the species in Culture. And rogue servitors pets traits are irrelevant as bio-trophies can produce only unity and cant do anything else.So it seems that we still stuck with the strong trait with syncretic evolution specie... Why can't we properly do a two specie empire without having to enslave it or having the second race designed to be used for labor? Rogue servitors' pets can have the traits they want so why not syncretic evolution?
- because it is most recent game that used this ancient trope?Wait... Primitive... Machine civs? Why does this remind me so much of Nier Automata?
- you can choose machine portrait for your "normal empire" and roleplay it being synthetic while pursuing synth ascension. Dont like it? Its your problem than. Its quite obvious for anyone that having synth start would be OP.Normal empire with normal ethos, just synthetics.
Shouldn't be all that hard.
I made a little test mod a while ago that turned machine pops into synthetics (including factions, happiness, etc). I am pretty sure you can apply the same to Robots or Machines if necessary.

I want to mod it so the main species is all extroverted, gung ho warrior / explorer types in the mold of James Kirk, and the secondary species are introverted scholar / bookworm / autistic types who live in dark caves but produce all the empire's science. I think that would be funExactly! Like your said bio trophies don't use the traits that you select for them so why do you can where syncretic evolution can't? Syncretic evolution was added in Utopia yes and yes the filer say that there are a strong and servile specie but a text can be changed right? I mean having the possibility to complete choose the traits you want for your second specie will be amazing. You will still can take strong if you want to play as a slaver for exemple but you can chose other traits if you just want to play them like at equal level with your main specie
can't you still do this just by reversing whose the secondary and primary? after all wouldn't the 'intelligent' species tend to become the leadership?I want to mod it so the main species is all extroverted, gung ho warrior / explorer types in the mold of James Kirk, and the secondary species are introverted scholar / bookworm / autistic types who live in dark caves but produce all the empire's science. I think that would be funBasically you have a race of introvert lab rats and your main species is brave but stupid.
Extroverts rule the world, not lab rats. If course in our world leadership tends to gravitate towards more intelligent people, examples to the contrary notwithstanding (like the orange baboon currently attempting to lead the world's most powerful country).can't you still do this just by reversing whose the secondary and primary? after all wouldn't the 'intelligent' species tend to become the leadership?

I'm fairly certain that during one of the streams, Wiz said that to use the Machine Portraits you need to be a Machine Empire. In fact, iirc during the feature stream, the Machine portrait category was red until they chose Gestalt Consciousness Ethics and Machine Empire government type.
I feel like there's something missing in my life whenever teasers stop. There's just... waiting for the patch notes now. And this feeling of gnawing emptiness...
Machine Primitives are just Machine Empires that somehow overthrew their creators (or were created by some ancient force ages ago) did not achieve space travel. A lot more likely than someone reaching extremely complex AI before space travel.
Hell, I'd settle for an update on @Wiz 's war with the Quvarian Fanatics and the Scourge.![]()
I hope those vacations were great and well enjoyed!I've been on vacation in Prague. Tomorrow should bring a lot of fun stuff for you guys.
They are actually, there are not new preFTL civilization in the game yet.i guess with the "primitive civilizations"-option they are talking about quantity?
