Japans mighty industry now outstrips the USA in useable output, for the construction of fridges, radios and Quantum computers.

The Chinese peril has decended upon Japan forcing us to take defensive measures. This will be a long brutal war, but we will win through to absolute victory.

Next session the war will comence after our diplomats visted Bejing and informed them of our decision.

P.S for everyones information this war will not be the quick china war like normal. I have done a different buildup and plan to build the forces i need to defeat china as the war goes on. So dont be suprised if the war lasts until 1939-40. The action and battles will be alot slower until i have enough forces to complete the task. Doing it this way for a change as building and maintaining 100 plus 1936 plain infantry until nearly 1942 and upgrading them all is huge task, why bother, ill fight this war as it happened IRL except Japan will win. Should be no lag issues as im the host or those annoying provinces you take but the AI dosnt recongonise that forcing a reload.
 
Ok sounds fair to me. You dont mind if we have a human China so you can play it real historical like. Hate to see you not challenge mate :)
I am not fussed how long it takes as long as the capital isnt isolated.
 
Sunday Game

Good session

Uk blundered along with one monarchial crisis leading to another parliamentary foilble - or adding more less dissent. Meanwhile the armed forces remain starved or capital and priority.

The events in Spain are most worrisome and should be directing the attention of the nation.

I can play on Friday if u want - otherwise see you this Sunday.

Sunday week next - I will be away - it should be mid 38 so Major can sub for me.
 
Well, the US suffers from dissent owing to our tolerant and open democratic society. I don't see why refusing to become a dictatorship should give 10 perent dissent. Stupid random events.

Anyway, apart from FDR's brave stand for freedom, the US has mainly contented itself with researching, building the odd factory and whatnot and starting to upgrade our navy and airforce. Should probably get around to building more troops one of these days, but not for a while.
 
Some-day 1937 Progress Report:

Vast and secretive facilities have been built, and are now ready to conduct tests and develope new, revolutionary, technology.

The German High Command is in it's initial preparations for the up-coming war, both with the Western and Eastern powers.

Most worrisome however is the uber-IC strategy adopted by Uncle Joe, something sure to lead to alot of men in uniform.
 
Uncle Joe will be happy to reassure Aunty Adolf that the large new factory complexes in Kazakhstan, the Urals and Siberia are only manufacturing saurkraut and knickerbockers. When the time comes, these gifts will be given to Germany en masse...

Further to this however, new secret weapons facilities have been constructed in light of the German military-technological expansion. A new force has been developed to clear minefields - called an 'Infantry division', and flottillas of Soviet aircraft have been constructed from the finest balsa wood and elastic bands.

Uncle Joe's motives can be guessed at by his recent speech "Quantity has a quality all of it's own..."
 
Give us a break..I am sure when we get to some action and you start gettign your arsed kicked you will go quiet and the other players will say something :)

Supply Rules

Its probably necessary to thrash out the minor nation supply rule before we get to a testy phase.

Given the possibility of a UK or US led invasion somewhere in Europe - sometime in the game. I would like to discuss the implications of the supply restrictions as coded at present.

Host nations can only supply host ports. This is a new development with the game, the main weakness in Hoi2 in my opinion - one that really only matters to the allies in the Netherlands East Indies ( with American invasion) and the benelux frontier with Germany. Perhaps some others...

Benelux nations are spread the entire length of the German - franco border.

I would like to understand how an invasion north of the benelux can be executed without causing the same issue as last game. Surely the flexibility to do so should exist? But how can it without a belgian player providing access ( effectively by 'selling a coast province(s)' to the Uk/USA), thus allowing a corridor to France.

I would be interested in Axis views on this.

I would state that I have a bank of three networked PC here at home and could easily play Belgium for that phase of the game when it becomes a live issue - a long time from now - buts that whys it good to discuss the issue without the heat of battle as distraction.

It would seem ludicrous to me if the axis prohibits a logical, historcially possible and reasonable military course of action - thus really leaving Germany undefended - because of code design.

I would add that by having Belgium play a few relevant sessions - would not mean that an invasion would neccesarily occur in N Germany - but it would leave open the option - as it was in reality.

Given the similar issue with nazi Poland and Germany - I would simialrly agree on a "Polish' player - even me if necessary- allowing a simialr axis corrdior to russia - post barbarosa. Assuming Poland was a puppet - or Vichy france for Germany for instance

You can easily solve this problem by not advancing by land into France from Belgium but once the attackk is won and the defenders are retreating land UK or USA divisions(from ship) or even a paratrooper from the UK into the vacated province and it will turn into UK controlled or USA controlled depending on who invaded.
You can direct questions like this to the Aussie board who will discuss it and if they think it a revelant issue can then present it to the group for further discussion and voting. I understand where you are coming from but we dont want to clutter this thread with issues like this. I am sure should a legitimate issue like this cause problems for anyone a simple email to the board at aussie.board@hotmail.com will get it resolved fairly for all players.

After taking control of the glorious falange in Spain, Franco was pleased to announce a quick and complete victory (by October) over the communists who for so long ensured Spain's lowly postion in the world. Now with our German, Swedish and Italian friends we have begun to rebuild our great nation with technological advancement and vast industrial expansion for, of course, purely peaceful purposes, unless outside powers begin to show aggression towards Spain.

I broke my glasses and my eyesight is really bad without them, so bad I cant use computers. So thats my excuse. I should have a new pair by friday so I should be able to play :(

Firstly - are you actually saying I need to send a preciuos paratroop or marine group in advance of a landed invasion breaking out of Belgium in order to satisfy game code??? Im gobsmacked you consider this rationale ....

Secondly - I will leave my comments whenever and wherever I like... Mate this is a game..

All major is saying JH is that we now have a system in place for dealing with this issue, game bugs, rules changes, some one cheating. So send an email in detail to the aussie board email. I think the issue requires a bit more research in how the supply system actualy works and if there are any ways to avoid it or to make it work properly. If you submit your email ill aks the borad to meet before we play on friday or sunday to dicuss the issue. But send the email, if you dont the the issue will not be discussed. We have this system in place now use it please.

You can leave any comment you like..Just try and leave this thread for our current Sunday game so as to avoid confusion. People are checking this thread for updates and AAR on this game. I am sure the new Aussie council can resolve this supply issue to your satisfaction. I tried my best to set up a system whereby others didnt get stuck into each other for merely stating their oponion.

I know how boards work! I am Chairman of a $9m turnover company! But I dont belittle my shareholders concerns in advance of the process.

I was merely stating a simple fix for something which is hard coded into the game. It was you who asked for comments in the first place.

What I write is irrevelant. I am not part of the 3 member board and have no influence or control over their discussions or votes. I cant see why people wouldnt lodge their concerns with them.

Well as far as I know you havnt lodged any concerns with the board and if you had I wouldnt be discussing it here. I was suggesting you try and use what has been set up to deal with an issue like this. It was not my intention to belittle anyone. Unforunately written words dont show emotion or the context into which something may have been written.

Chill out JH just send a simple email off to aussie.board@hotmail.com leave the problem with them and we can get back to the serious part of kicking some Nazi butt.
