What is a Map Game without its Map? In today's in-development showcase video, We take a tour of EU5s 3D map. Join as we soar through the skies of Europe and showcase the various terrain, weather, units and environment details!

Please note graphical textures may not be final, and that camera angles are not representative of gameplay, with most visual elements taken at unnatural angles for the purposes of the showcase.

We hope you enjoy! Feedback is appreciated as usual.

At this point, this should be the signature under every image of the game lol

Jokes aside, it looks really great. The mountains look amazing and rivers in particular are looking better and better.

Just make sure to, you know... don't leave them like 1-2 pixels offset of the location borders like always, for goodness sake :(

This looks amazing! I think the main thing that stands out is the textures, so I'm looking forward to seeing those be improved.

The other thing is the Mediterranean/Inland Sea colour, which is still very artificial looking compared to the rest of the water and does not look great. I'd love it to look less luminescent and like a chemical spill. I'd rather see it darker and a little more green rather than bright turquoise/cyan.

Otherwise the progress looks great!

What are the graphics settings used in the video? Low, mid, high, max...? I'm really curious about that.

In any case, the graphics looks very good, and I absolutely loved the transition between seasons.

Alright, we're getting a series of map showcases. Cannot wait for more tho, loved the battle scene, loved the knights having the state flag, loved the season changes, loved the minor details. A perfect birthday gift for me haha!

Don't worry, we'll show off more regions in future map showcases to come :p

We just picked Europe because we had to start somewhere and well... it did seem fitting.

Next Thursday Middle East 3D map showcase?

Could you at least confirm that thursdays will be 3D map showcase day for a while :)

Overall, the 3D terrain looks nice (though it might be a bit too flat for the diorama feel with giant castles... more terrain relief would make it look better in my opinion).

The political map mode feels like a step back from modern Paradox games because the opacity makes it hard to see the terrain clearly. Do you have to keep switching between political and terrain modes? I suggest making the color gradient more transparent as it moves away from the borders. It would also be better if the borders adjusted with the zoom level; right now, they're too thick and hide even more of the terrain.

You know what is *really* 3D? A globe. EU6 needs a globe for a map!

Can I assume, the final zoom implies, that we can finally zoom in again without losing the political map mode?

Of course. If you are in the political mapmode it will keep it.

The "papermap" when zoomed out and "terrain" when zoomed in is one configurable mapmode, and does not affect any of the other 50+ mapmodes we have.

Next week is something different but 3D map showcases will return though at a currently unspecified future date. (Don't wanna make any promises when dates are so subject to change)

I don't know, I feel like the ground textures are really low resolution, they look blurry. Especially the grass and sand textures.

Compare the mountain texture to the grass texture, it looks really low quality in comparison.

Same here with the higher res farmland texture next to a blurry grass textures.
I know it's work in progress/not final, but I'm quite underwhelmed.
