Yeah really not a good spot for Constantinople to be in

Tibet and Byzantium aren't doing well.

It looks like West Francia will soon conquer Bavaria. I wonder if they will invade Saxony and unite Germany?

The Umayyads and the Carolingians still effectively have a stalemate.

The rest of the year was nothing but disastrous for the Byzantines. The Holy War for Cherson against the Khazars had been lost. A massive Lombard army was marching further and further into Byzantine territory. Dyrrachion had fallen to the Serbian High Chief Budimir of Epirus. "In 774, the Empire of Tibet lost both of the wars it had been fighting for the past few years. Tibetan dreams of adding the Pala Kingdom as a tributary state were shattered. Even more concerning was the fact that the independence of many important former vassals now had to be recognized by Tsenpo Purgyal Trisong Detsen. Queen Tong Ataklumo the Lionheart of Nagchu and Gyalpo Gar Pelgyi II Phurbu of Dege were now rulers of independent Bon states. Ne Tuoba Chaoguang the Just of Minyak now reigned over an independent Tangut Taoist state but his weak realm had already been embroiled in an independence rebellion as Tanguts who practiced the Bon faith joined the banner of Xifeng Mohui of Nagormo. Aside from non-Buddhists, even non-Tibetan Buddhist vassals had rebelled against the Tibetan Empire. To the north, Shah Siddharthe of Kroran was now in charge of an independent Tocharian Buddhist nation. Meanwhile, to the west, Raja Ashoka of the Patola Sahi Raj was now the master of his own Punjabi Buddhist realm."

"Emir Muhammad of Marwazid Emirate, who had been placed in command of the Abbasid army, died under mysterious circumstances just as the rebellion finally ended in the year 776. His death was blamed on the rebels at the time but we now know that Caliph Al-Mansur had sent his agents to murder the Persian emir. The caliph wasted no time in seizing his deceased vassal's lands and granting them to his cousin Isa the Cruel. Several rebel leaders such as Emir Khalid of the Barmakid Emirate, the Zoroastrian Sheikh Jahandar of Qwivir and Wali Vahid of Baqofah died in the dungeons of the caliph. All of these men were Persian and it became obvious what the caliph's intentions were when he appointed an old Bedouin physician named Sadiq as the new Wali of Baqofah. Khalid's son Yahya the Cruel inherited his father's lands and titles but he remained a prisoner of the caliph. Shia Emir Ismail of the Hashimid Emirate, Zoroastrian sheikhs Shervin of Alamut and Vandad Hormoozd of Dihistan, the Armenian Christian Sahak Arranshahik and the Afghan Buddhist Nihaal Kaikanite were left to rot in the caliph's dungeons. Sahak and Nihaal were even stripped of their titles, which were granted to Bedouin Sunni vassals such as the infant Sheikh Fadl of Shirvan and Sheikh Shaiban of Kalat. Having replaced disloyal Persians and non-Muslims in his realm with vassals of his faith and culture, the caliph shifted his focus eastwards. Two years ago in 774, the Karluk Khagan Khiliji had declared war upon the infant Emir Sa'daddin of the Bajanid Emirate, a tributary state of the Abbasids. Now that the rebellion in the caliphate had ended, Abbasid soldiers were sent east to help the Bajanids. Yet, there are also those that believe that the pope got wary after Adelchis decided to declare war upon Doge Maurizio of Venice and feared he might come next for the Papacy, which still laid claims to most of the Italian territories held by the Lombards. The Bavarian War is over. Did the Carolingians attack the Lombards? Do they have Papal support if so?
In-game? No. But this is an excommunication war and it happened as soon as the Lombard king was kicked out of the Catholic Church, so yes.

West Francia is doing well...

It seems as if China is expanding again. I'd be worried if I was in Central Asia.

With a nickname like Son of Shaytan, I'd expect the Caliph to suffer from more rebellions, given historians literally called him the son of the Devil...

The raja was a vassal in the Karkota Kingdom, a Chinese tributary state, whereas the sultan paid his tributes to the caliph. For four years, the Abbasids had not made any moves to defend Sultan Hisam due to fear of Maharaja Samgramapida of the Karkota Kingdom getting involves in response and summoning Chinese armies. However, since the Taghlibids started to lose control of their territories rapidly, the Abbasids were forced to come to the aid of Sultan Hisam. The Abbasids are expanding, and some people obviously want more autonomy. Wanting a lunatic as Byzantine Emperor? Absurd

It is nice that Sardinia is falling at long last. It can't survive alone.

After the birth of Jahaira however, the sultan decided to forgive his wife and decided to end the murder plot. But, when Semeah became pregnant again while he was away, the sultan had enough. Claiming that Jahaira had not been fathered by a Bedouin man, the sultan challenged the Basque Sheikh Muza of Alto Aragon to a duel to death on 9 October. Muza was at the wrong place at the wrong time and he was forced to defend himself from the enraged sultan. The duel ended with the death of the sultan at the age of 34. Semeah blamed herself for Abd-al-Rahman II's death and she died of depression nine days later. Thus, at the age of 11, Abdul-Gafur succeeded his father as the Umayyad Sultan."

Jahaira's real father was Sheikh Fafila of Soria, a Visigothic Sunni Muslim, but nobody knows this so I did not reveal this in the post above. He is now suffering from depression after his lover Semeah died of depression while she was pregnant with another child of his.

"In 782, Yazid of the Sulamid Emirate rose up in rebellion against Al-Hadi after the caliph tried to revoke his titles. The Nestorian Christian Patriarch of the East, Denha, supported Yazid in his rebellion but it was futile. The Abbasid forces were overwhelmingly superior in number and the best example of this was the Battle of Mafraq where the caliph's brother, Emir Harun al-Rashid of Mosul, commanded over 10,000 men and defeated a small rebel army led by Mayor Fadl of Maraclea."

"After the Siege of Nikaea ended, the rebel Taxiarches of Opsikion's wife Eugenia Stachytzes and their 11 years old son Gregorios were taken as prisoners of war. Eugenia would die at the age of 43 on 24 June 782 in the dungeons of Basileus Manthos. The death of his wife made Taxiarches further emboldened in his quest to overthrow Manthos and install Anthimos Isauros as the next basileus. Manthos became a widely-hated man after Eugenia's death. While many Byzantine nobles now felt pity for Taxiarches and some even joined his cause, most of them decided that Anthimos was unfit to be basileus due to his lunacy. The lunatic's own brother-in-law, Theodotos of Anatolia, declared a new rebellion against Manthos to install Anthimos' younger brother Eudokimos Isauros, who was just 15, as the next basileus."

This Govinda was the third son of Dhruva of Konkana and thus, the maharaja's nephew. With around 5,000 men compared to something between 3,000 to 4,000 for the rebels, the loyalists intially had the upper hand in the battle but were defeated by the rebels at the end of the day.
