A Meeting with the Devil'a Kin Part Three
War is an unfortunate event to befall any nation, or people. As summer began to fade into autumn Peru was yet again faced with a period of turmoil. Yet again many an honest man would have to forfeit his life for the sack of rapid expansionistic ideals. Months of preparation had led up to this tremendous event in Peruvian history. Then as our country stood fragile and weak we would have to prove our will to stay firm and steadfast in our ideals. As much as it pained me to raise my gun upon another man it hurt my soul many multiple times more when I realized the destruction war left in its' wake.
Palos had planned upon having the war's first engagement in the north-eastern Bolivian province of Riberalta. Forces dispatched to the area would include the two infantry divisions of the 3'corps. Their original position had been within the confines of a northern province. When they bashed into enemy territory they were resisted, but only with minimal effort. Upon entering the rural area of Riberalta troops were confronted with dug in Bolivians’ and a cavalry division. Expectations for the battle included warnings of possibly fanatical defenders', and a fierce prolonged siege. In truth after only one day of easy fighting the defenders disbanded into submission.
Fueled by this victory Palos ordered three additional divisions stationed in Cuzco towards the Bolivian capital of La Paz. Following several days of double pace marching the divisions arrived at their intended destination. Despite high expectations and the momentum of the Riberalta battle the engagement was an utter failure. It resulted in the tragic death of a multitude of Peruvians and set the campaign back several weeks. New orders issued to those army units included a full retreat and then a period of recuperation.
Whilst the attackers of La Paz back tracked towards friendly territory the 3'corps began to implement Palos grand plan. A major aspect of the Bolivian war was a plan to form a semi-circle around La Paz. Under a most capable general the Peruvian Armies most battle hardened unit was making it a reality. After several weeks of travel and a difficult trek the 3'corps finally arrived in Conabama. At long last the cards were in place so to speak. November 3 of 1937 saw five infantry divisions' of the Peruvian Army ordered into the enemy strong hold of La Paz.
Blood flowed upon the ground on November seventh of the same year. La Paz was under full siege that day as five division of battle hardened and brilliant men stormed their objective. Defenders held their positions as best they could despite this many vital advantages that were in the hand of their invaders. We in the Peruvian army contained the advantage of being overwhelmingly outnumbering to the Bolivians. More than a two to one ratio to be precise young ones. Thus it was only natural for after several days of fierce and mentally convincing combat that the Bolivian gave way. On November 9, 1936 the nation state of Bolivia surrendered its' sovereignty to the most honorable order of the Lama.

Nothing of the future was clear to the great minds of the day at this point in history. We all lived in a mind clouding fog. Each and every man chose to live his life day by day and use his morals and ideals to guide himself thought the mist. As time progressed the nation state of Peru became more and more noticeable an entity to the outside world. In the turbulent months and years to come her fate would lie in the hands of the privileged few.

Antonia shock his head. Grogginess still lingered within. The old prune had stopped momentarily again. A familiar glazed look paced across his clear blue eyes and he too violently shock his head to banished unfriendly thoughts from the confines of his mind. Of course as his mount opened once more the audience that had been boisterously conversing fell silent in an instant.
