I think Korea could be solved by China and USA giving each Korea a number of divisions(after being asked of course). The USSR should also have to approve the war(as Stalin did) or the Soviets will not bless it. If they do they should send equipment(give them supplies and perhaps a fighter squadron or two).

This would give South Korea and North Korea control of the volunteers and the great powers are kept out of war. If South Korea is going down and the US declares war on North Korea(only if), the USSR should be given a choice to start a world war(declare war on America) or increase North Korean support) this could be the other way for North Korea as well.

The Suez should be fought purely through events, the USSR and US asked to denounce the invasion. If they do France and UK will be asked to back down(the ai will generally do so) or go into a real war with Egypt(and be expelled from NATO?) If they do the Soviets should be given the choice to send aid(perhaps a division of volunteers, supplies, etc.). After certain conditions are met the Suez could be surrendered through an event by Egypt.

Vietnam is harder. I think that mainly events should govern the war, perhaps the war could be fight between the two Vietnams with the South being given troops by the US(like suggested for Korea). Depending on which provinces are govern by which certain events will fire making the war winnable for each side, depending mainly on actions taken by China, USSR, and US. If the US are winning the Chinese might send hordes of troops(like in Korea) to beat them back and then America might be asked to bombard southern China, if they do the Chinese might declare war and the Soviets might give the Americans an ultimatum to leave Asia or have a full scale war on their hands.

This kind of solutions will be best for the odd wars the cold war mod timeline contains.

it would be best for the battle scenarios, however the main campaign is all about altering history - would the vietnam war have happened the way it did when the US were communist (very unlikely)? So the main powers should always be able to interfere - after all, there is a possibility that the UK or France intervene in the Vietnam conflict, or the US /USSR in Suez etc. Its these decisions that make the game fun, it shouldn't say "No, germany didn't participate in Vietnam, so it should not do so now", when it was theoretically possible (if very unlikely). therefore, the intervene/don't intervene question should be there for every country.

i dont know how many wars there are going to be in the mod. but i think if there isnt one than there should be one where the soviet union goes to war or the united states because if someone plays with one of them they will then basically do nothin but simulate the whole cold war never fighting anyone.

In the Cold War, there was a number of events that could have triggered a full war. I think this should be implemented. Why not have a random "diplomatic incident" event that has a chance of firing up the cold war? This would make the game more realistic and more fun since, as in real life, everyone would have to adapt to the fact that a large scale war could accour at ANY moment. This was the reality that the people of this era lived under and I think this would make the game more fun than that only the player could start a large scale war.

For example. The Cuban missile crisis could have a 35 % chance that USA declares war on USSR and 50 % chance that they will set up a blockade (15 % that they do noting except protesting). The USSR has a 35 % chance of ignoring the blockade and this gives the USA a 90 % chance of DoW on USSR. What do you think?

sounds good. I suggest you head over to the event discussion thread and start hammering out the details. Don't worry about coding, we have our monkeys to do that...
