What you do when you write English is that you miss a lot of "a" and "The" I will attempt to point some out from the latest chapter

1."Since proclamation of Duchy from 1517's autumn Duke and Confederates were busy even more than before" should be "Since the proclamation of the Duchy in the autumn of 1517 the Duke and the Confederates were even more busy than before"

2."Just in decade winds of Reformation managed to badly damage Europe" should be "Just in a decade the winds of the Reformation managed to badly damage Europe".

These are the most common faults I find but I don't have the time to find them all, it would take way to long and this post would become huge.

That's valuable post right there. I shall take note of these fails and try to avoid them next time ;)

it would take way to long and this post would become huge.

And that's what I'm talking about. Still lots of things to fix. And I'm happy that someone finally sees them. Thanks ;)

Chapter Fourteen - Iron Duchess

*Last Knight passes away

Peace of Rastenburg marked yet another victory of Grand Duke Walther, who humiliated his enemies once again and made Livonian might prevail. One can defeat treachery, greed and enemies on battlefield, yet one cannot stop passing of time. Landtag General Session of 1532 main topic was obviously victory and question of reinforcing army. Duke Walther was a mere shadow of famed Last Knight, great unificator and chivalrous commander. He was badly wounded during one of last skirmishes and lost - except of health - his natural spirit and vigour. Time is passing away, nothing lasts forever - even Duke was slowly understanding that his time is slowly ending. Since 1532 Walther retired from political activity. During next Landtag's sessions he seemed to be just special guests, he tried to avoid political discussions at every cost. For Confederates it was a little bit annoying yet understandable. Von Plettenberg conferred last forty years to save Livonian Order's legacy and create new, stable power. Countless challenges and obstacles separating him from that goal were overcame, sometimes at huge cost. Only person who stayed close to Walther was Duchess Sofia. Duke's wife begun to act as new ruler, helping Walther to finally rest. It was even more important that before 1522's Landtag Winter Session finally a heir was born. News cheered Confederates, as succession wasn't dangered and risk of civil war was nullified. Except of heir's birth Walther has finally spoken in Landtag. Because of growing problems with health he made Sofia av Pommern acting ruler and - when he'll pass - rightful regent before ascension of their son, Barnim. No one even dared to oppose Walther's last will. Since 1532's winter Sofia took role of number one. For next two years she remained moderate course of policy, trying not to stress Walther too much. Maybe peaceful reign extended Last Knight's life...yet it had to end eventually. On 22th February of 1535 Walther von Plettenberg, creator of Livonian state and one among the most valorous commanders passed away during sleep. Sofia av Pommern immediately started her reign as Duchess and regent, promising to pass the Duchy to Barnim when he will age. Last Knights was succeeded by Iron Duchess in Duchy and by Johann von Recke in Livonian Order. Von Recke became also new Landmarschall.

*Sofia av Pommern, the Iron Duchess

Her first speech as the only ruler of Livonia shocked everyone. Instead of mournful reminiscence of Walther's life Sofia presented her honest thoughts on Livonia's foreign policy. Her statement was clear - there are three powers in our neighbourhood and Livonia needs to either ally or destroy them when it's possible to preserve its security. If Grand Duchy arised like phoenix from ashes, cannot Muscovy do exactly the same? Not to mention already strong Poland-Lithuania and free Sweden. Quite unexpected from Duchess, yet it was essence of the truth. Sofia's speech indicated course of Duchy's foreign policy for next century. Despite fierce passion, four years passed before Iron Duchess started to introduce her plans into reality. Why? Well, preparation is the key. During Summer Landtag of 1535 funds for loan's repayment were provided. Sofia hated any kind of dependence including financial one. During Summer Session she refused to accept any loans from Hansa, as it's stopping growth of Livonian economy. Several financial reforms were introduced to support grain and fur exporters from Reussia. Great decision for Livonian economy - export's rate was growing and growing since then. Temporary economical problems were solved and economy was back on good track again. Seeing that there are lots of coins in treasury, Sofia could at last embroil her plans. Having Landtag's support she asked Landmarschall to mobilize troops from Livonia and prepare to march on the East, when she will handle West. On 2nd August of 1539 military pact between Gustav Vasa, King of Sweden and Livonian Duchess was signed. Being backed by Lutheran king (and personally being Lutheran as well) Sofia could focus on Muscovy. As Von Recke was gathering regiments, Duchess accused Muscovian traders of several financial crimes and forced them out of Livonia. Evidence was prepared by her people but who really cares? Knyaz Ivan IV was mad sent Sofia letter, full of insults and really, really bad words. No one likes bad words, except when these might give a nice casus belli. And so it was with Sofia. Already mobilized regiments knew of Sofia's plot and invaded Muscovy at the spring of 1540.

qbubh.png

*Ivan in chains

While planning to deal with Orthodox neighbour first, Sofia was aware of two things. One - Ivan's army is really outdated, stuck in Middle Ages. Two - one day Muscovy might have competent ruler, who will finally realize what is going on. Then it might be tough to suppress Orthodox invaders. "Muscovy needs to be humiliated, subjugated, and stay that way. Most likely forever." - Iron Duchess wasn't called Iron Duchess without a reason. And who were Livonian commanders to disobey her? Especially in such easy task. Von Recke and second in command Walther von Brandenburg were to lead military campaign on their own for the first time. Enemy appeared to be even weaker than expected. Even with triple advantage Muscovites were devastated by riflemen regiments. Battles were similar to these between Spanish conquistadors and tribal armies rather than between two European powers. Such reports only confirmed that it's easy to tame Orthodox Bear. Only a few dates are worth of being noted. Campaign started in March of 1540, while on 22nd April Moscow was already taken. Great city, same as most of Russia still didn't manage to recover from Great Raid after fifty years since. Main Muscovian army, consisting on fifty five thousands of people attacked von Recke's unit near Solnechnogorsk on 27th May of 1540. Russian commanders were pursuing poor peasants to charge at Livonian lines and try to break them. Casualties were enormous. During several tries from 27th May to 16th June Russians lost twenty thousands of recruits. In meantime von Brandenburg and his unit was "travelling" around Russia and subjugating other cities. None of these could resist invaders and were falling one after another. Russian obscurantism led Muscovy to Livonian thraldom once again. On 15th June of 1541 it was confirmed. Knyaz Ivan IV, same as his ancestor fifty years ago paid homage to Sofia av Pommern in Riga's main place. Muscovy was forced to pay tribute and obey Livonian Duchy's will without any questions. Enslavement of East was done and alliance with West was firm. What's next target of surprisingly warmonger Sofia?

That war was just...no, no. Showing you pictures of all these cities falling isn't even necessary I think. Steamroll, but hey - 2x CRT advantage. What do you think about it now, huh? All opinions and thoughts about action etc...well, you know the drill.

Recently I'm really tired every Friday, also life aims at my butt (but I'm not giving in yeah!), so quality of last episodes might be kinda...lower? At least I feel like so.

Hey, and I'm approaching 2.5k views. It's nice result I guess, for a FtG AAR these days. Thanks for that. Hope that all of you guys have mucho, mucho fun, eh? Hah :D

See you next timeah!

Just a quick note - I had to reinstall Windows after New Year's Eve and yeah, I kinda have to setup my "base" for AAR again. I have all files, saves and my edited PV version - it's just a matter of time, and will. That's another thing - I need to chill for a bit, think about my goals and plans for that AAR, so just take that as a temporary cooldown, okay? Not to mention that recently I got back into Darkest Hour and Orochi Warriors (daymn killing!), so yeah, short break from FtG-things ;) But really short, and after that I'm back and going all the way to the end, really! In meantime you can check our Succession Game (meine signateur) and maybe...something more. For now, just give me a short break ;) A week or two I guess.

Oh, Misc. I wouldn't be able to take vassal and MA with 79%. Only vassal. Yep. ;)

Chapter Fifteen - Baltische Achsenmächte

*24th September of 1544, Landtag Hall, Riga

-So, it is how things are...- Duchess asked emissary after a short while, sitting on her special place on the right of main rostrum, attentively observing emissary standing there.
-Yes, my Lady - he said eagerly - there is no time to lose. Danes already threatened balance with their Sund Due and recent submission of northern German cities. It is the crucial moment, when they are still exhausted by last campaign, King Gustav states that there would be no better chance to oust Denmark in future! If we will let them take over Hansa, one day we might not be able to stop that rascals... - he raised his head and looked at tribunes fulled with Confederates. Warlike representatives seemed to be convinced, looking at emissary and Duchess with their usual, crazy sight in their eyes.

Time to get things going.

-Except of that My Lady, King Gustav wished to ask about aid from your brother, duke Barnim. His military aid and access to Pomeranian ports might prove crucial. If we can gather our armies there and then, with God's support retake Hansetic cities, Danes will lost their financial support and then we can...
-Ha! - Duchess get up from her place and disrupted emissary's speech - So that is your goal after all! Money! Bloody cash! And gooddies! Is that it?! Oh you, sweet Swedish boys... - she sighed and smiled to confused emissary for a while - Can't you be straight at least at once? Speak your mind?...Ah...I get it now...

Sofia walked towards main rostrum and stood ahead of it, leaving Swedish emissary behind her in state of absolute confusion. She took a deep breath and, after a while of gathering power, she yelled like one of these waitress serving German beer in Bavarian bar:

-Everyone who agrees to support Vasa and drive Danes out of Germany, rise your arms up!

Two hundreds of swords, axes, pikes and rifles rose up in a moment, along with cheers and vivates. Sofia wasn't an exception, with her light cavalry sabre given as token of gratitude by Johann von Recke, Livonian Knights head.

-Good! - she yelled, waving her sabre in the air - Now you, sweet Swedish boy! Get back to Sweden and inform your lord that we are ready anytime! Barnim will surely support us too!

During rest of Landtag session everyone was singing, cheering and expressing their hatred towards Danish King. Time to pay them back for enslaving Sweden and threatening Livonia! In all that mess and disorder Sofia somehow managed to perform votings and gain official support for a war, settle number of conscripts and war funds. Ah, Confederates...like a kids - give them Casus Belli and they will go against Satan himself.

From 10th December of 1544 Gustav Vasa, along with Sofia av Pommern-Plettenberg and Barnim together declared war on Danish Kingdom and thus Hansa, Danish lapdog at a time. A Baltic Axis was born.

UGlPsIZ.png

*First Northern War (1544-1546)

Danish King, Christian III, was shocked with news of attack from the East. It took him so long to subjugate and seize Hansa's assets and now he was to spend most of cash to repel his grandfather's vassal and crazy duchess attacking his possessions. Madness! All plans were in place already and only execution remained. Christian was expecting Vasa to send his forces to Gotland, island claimed by both Kingdoms. Danish plan was to engage Swedish fleet here and destroy it if possible. Thus Sofia's plan originated, to deceive Danes and free Vasa's navy - Livonians will attack Gotland instead! Walther von Brandenburg landed there along with twenty eight thousands of infantry on 14th January of 1545. Livonian Navy was to face Danish Navy stationed there, consisting on seven modern warships. First battle near Visby ended with Livonians defeat, although three out of seven enemy vessels were sunk, without any casualties. A volunteer Livonian Navy was a major example of what morale means on battefield, yet size and armament of your ships is really important (that's what she said!). On 10th April remnants of Danish Gotland Squadron were caught again near Gotland, mercilessly outgunned by twenty-eight Livonian vessels. Visby has been cut off from Danish mainland; von Brandenburg assaulted city again - no such luck, yet its defenses were badly weakened, ripe to be beaten next time.
Finally on 19th November, just before start of winter city capitulated to Livonians. Confederates returned home, entrusting defence of Gotland to local nobles loyal to Vasa. Either way island would be returned to him, Sofia however came up with yet another plan to make profit from war. Soon Gustav agreed to Duchess's proposition - Gotland will be ceded to Swedish crown in exchange for easternmost, coastal part of Karelia. Northern Karelia was in Danish hands and it was included in deal as well - in the end, whole Karelia was meant to be part of Livonia after war. Von Brandenburg's expedition was sent there and seized Danish Kola on 28th March of 1546.

NQB2xSd.png

In meantime Gustav and Barnim had tough time with Danes, who held them off particulary well. To finally break their lines and force to unconditional surrender, Livonian Army was sent there. News of thirty thousands of soldiers led by duet Recke-Brandenburg in Pommern made heads of Hansa beg Danes for signing peace. King Christian himself was probably convinced enough that waging war against Baltic Axis is not the best idea. On 14th September 1546 in Stettin - Barnim's capital - Christian ceded Gotland, northern Karelia and most of his possessions in Skane in exchange for truce. Fair enough, but for sure it is not the end of struggling for trade and political domination in Baltic Sea.

Und das ist meine, eine grosse Livonische panzerkrankwagen von arbeitklasse du krosgwigk funfzig ist verboten.

I have no idea what I've just said, but believe me that everyone born in Silesia has German accent and somewhat positive attitude towards it in his blood so it sounds somewhat familiar and nice to me, yet I don't know what most of these words means. Only that they sound awesome!

And all of these things are happening because Livonia are is of backness! Took some time, effort, but in the end I missed it soo much (hope that not only I *wink*). I are full of excitations and maybe I will stop using Polandball-English before it gets too awkward (it did already).

Any of my virtue For the Glory companions here? Look, I made a thing? Is it fun? Tell mee! Now that I'm back, I want to add a bit of warlordism to our action soon, the question remains if you are fine with amount of moddage in that AAR. If I'm not overkillin' it basically.

I surely don't want to offend any Danish people around, but in this game, Denmark sucks a bit. See when we can break it down finally ;)

Recently (like, not really) except of Livonian story I started my very own warlord story in Darkest Hour, maybe you'd want to hang out there for a bit and see what you can see - and yes, it is simply a pure advertisementaire, I'm not gonna even lie to your face.

Chapter Sixteen - Ace of Pikes

*Countless battlefields

Although recent war against Denmark didn't really drain much of Livonian resources, a period of peace was most desired by Livonians. Even such warmongers could foresee disastrous effects of endless warfare: after every conflict both trade and production are sorta going down and both needs time to get back on former level. Not to mention all other issues potentially emerging during wars...so-called interbellum lasted merely two months during which Karelia and Gotland have been exchanged and didn't end because of Sofia (which is quite surprising when you think of it) but Polish aggression in Baltic Sea. One Baltic power defeated? Well, now it is time for another! With state treasury full of brand new thalers Sofia ordered mobilization of 40.000 soldiers, including fully mobilized Livonian Knights and Mongol recon groups this time. Unfortunately winter affected speed of mobilization, delaying it to March of 1547 when about 65.000 soldiers gathered in Livonia. Main force has been equally split in two units. While Walther von Brandenburg fortified with his groups in northern Samogitia, awaiting to strike exhausted Lithuanian masses, Johan von der Recke launched invasion of Lithuania, aiming at - as usual - easy victory over inferior units and quick submission of Lithuanians. In meantine rest of belligerents went for it, sending formidable numbers of regiments to claim final victory. While Sofia's allies cleverly cut off and besieged Danzig, Polish and Lithuanian nobles were...less clever, to say the least. Very least. To prevent von Brandenburg from unlocking Raseiniai Lithuanian nobility gathered eighty thousands (!!) of peasants, robbers, forced conscripts - cannon fodder in general - yet still weren't able to break defenders in Samogitian fortresses. Again, clashes there were similar to tribal resistance against Spain and Portugal in New World. Attackers ended up losing sixty out of eighty thousands because of mere starvation...Polish commanders traditionally entered Prussia on their own and hoped to overwhelm Confederates with numbers. Mikołaj Sienawski's army had about 55.000 soldiers to finally seize and raze its nemesis - Prussia, now part of Livonia. They will never get bored, at least until their bitter end...

yLt099V.png

*Lithuanian Disaster

In April of 1547 all plans were set. Von Brandenburg's army garrisoned itself in Curonian and northern Samogitian fortresses, not even thinking about making a move. Two centuries later a wise Corsican officer will say that one shouldn't interrupt his enemies while they are making mistakes. And that was indeed Brandenburg's goal. Huge Lithuanian invasion left their country vulnerable - and that was after what von Recke was going for along with his regiments. Thirty thousands of Livonians poured into Lithuanian heartland and literally oblierated everything and everyone on their way. Only things worth noting are days in which all cities, one after another were surrendering. On 23rd May von Recke took Vilnus and two days later his detachment unit assaulted Polotsk. Since then von Recke moved east on his own, leaving detachment unit to secure Vilnus. Unlike Lithuanians Poles weren't that bad, although surely they could avoid most of losses. Thorn capitulated to Sieniawski on 28th June 1547 - there was nothing what Livonians could do about that. On August Sieniawski entered Prussia and locked all cities expect Koenigsberg and Memel which maintained naval connection with capital. Von Brandenburg promised that he'll come with succor shortly, as Lithuanians were slowly abandoning Samogitia, realizing how desperate they situation is. Von Recke continued his victorious march, capturing Smolensk in September and Vyazma in October. Units left by him in Vilnus barricaded themselves well in city and easily whitstood Lithuanian pressure, facing army three times bigger than their. On 13rd October von Brandenburg entered Raseiniai and continued his march towards Memel, preparing for major clash with Sieniawski. News from the east were most pleasing. Tula was captured on 9th December and forty thousands of Lithuanians crushed near Kaunas following day. Truce of Smolensk signed three days later was most satisfying. Grand Duchy left war, thus abandoning King Zygmunt of Poland, leaving him alone to face Axis wrath. Moreover Livonia kept all territories taken during Recke's campaign - vastly increasing its size and thus importance. Major victory against Lithuania achieved - time to regroup, move to Prussia and defy Polish invaders!

ygqOZtG.png

*Curbing Polish ambitions

After twelve months since split both commanders met again in Memel and joined their forces, now counting about 45.000. Sieniawski's invasion force was counting about 30.000, yet during last month his regiments managed to take key positions in Prussia. First try was sadly unsuccessful - Polish commander got his reinforcements on time and prevented Livonians from breaking siege of Koenigsberg. Nevertheless he couldn't hope for any reinforcements from Poland - since another Polish army invaded Pomerania - so either way he was defeated. On 2nd July he was finally forced to retreat from Prussia with high casulaties, but without any cities. Defeated units were pursued by von Recke and defeated once again near Rawa in Mazovia, Poland. Zygmunt finally lost upper hand, as sieges of Thorn and Płock were laid by Livonian commanders. On 22th January of 1549 Pomeranian Duchy - allowed to do so by its allies - signed truce with Poland and had to pay in order to save itself. Sofia attempted to sign truce with Zygmunt as well - no such luck. Fighting continued on, without both Pomerania and luck for Poles. On 21st May of 1549 Płock has been captured by von Recke. Hoping to distract Livonian commanders, large Polish Army (~25.000) moved onto Prussia from Lithuanian territory. Sofia had to call Swedish King for help and so he did. Swedish units engaged last Polish army near Tilsit and wrecked it on 29th June. From now on it was decided. On 2th November Thorn was retaken by von Brandenburg. And so Livonia and Poland returned to their usual point at which they don't want to fight anymore. Livonians want to return to their land and focus on repairing their damaged economy, while Poles badly want to keep Danzig on their side. After last Battle of Rawa on 23rd January of 1550 lost by Poles in most hopeless manner, Zygmunt agreed to pay war reparations and sign peace. Again, peace...most likely long period of peace. Walther and Sofia's son, Barnim finally declared end of his minority on 27th January of 1550. Sofia's regency came to an end, yet Iron Duchess remained very important person in Livonian politics, actively supporting new Duke despite her age...

I always cannot get to pictures. I'm just like "naaah, too much ctrl+c ctrl+v ;_;". But eventually, led by (n)everlasting ambition and dreams ("I wanna be the very best") I'm doing that stuff. So, there it is, as it should be, every Friday. I missed it T_T But also, some stuff happens. I'm currently looking for a job - well, life. Hoping to gather some moniez as fast as possible and go to UK looking for glory, adventure and more moniez (nah, just find a job there). Nevertheless I hope you have/had/will have fun. At least a bit ;)

Now...well, I played for a bit - I'm in 1563 right now. Well, random events...usually my anger because of things like UNEXPECTED REBELLION LOLZ XD breaks 9000 easily, but this time...maaan, I had soo much luck with randoms. It is not even funny at all, I just feel like it was...a cheat. Yet all I did is, well guess what, I simply played a game. I just had unimaginable chain of randoms. Ugh...dunno what to do with it. Maybe spend all cash earned during that time for some crazy-azz military conquest world changing superior blitzkrieg campaign? I had something like that in mind. Especially that Europe itself goes a little bit crazy now - see end of the post.

And I'd like to ask again - is the way I'm describing wars okay? I mean, I just feel like writing and showing screens of every little skirmish and army movement would turn that AAR to heavy pic stuff. Like, there is no point in showing the same battle of Vilnus five times, while they simply attacked me five times with similar numbers and five times lost it. Well...is it okay? I'm always unsure about that.

Oh, and teaser...hehehehe...well then. It's from 1557. I hope that'll give you a brief idea about, things.

Chapter Seventeen - Duke of Merchants

*Ascension of Duke Barnim

Just when Polish army was humiliated near Rawa, Barnim - son of Walther and Sofia - finished his minority with celebration of sixteenth birthday. Peace treaty with Poles has been signed by both Sofia - holding a regent title for a last day - and Barnim, officialy acknowledged as new Duke on 4th February of 1550 in Riga. Sofia's jingoism and military actions prepared groundwork for a fruitful period of peace for young Duke. Three major enemies were subjugated and forced to renounce their ambitions, and relations with Livonia's only ally - Sweden - were most splendid, and thus long borderline spanning from Ingerstadt Fortress near Baltic Sea to Weissburg - Livonian colonial port in Northern Karelia was completely safe. Next decade, first under Duke Barnim I von Plettenberg, saw exceptional rise of Livonian economy. Investments in colonization of Karelia quickly repaid themselves. Countless salt mines and fur farms vastly increased Livonian trade power in Baltic. Poland - major salt exporter in Eastern Europe for a last century was now in danger, as Livonians with Karelian salt and fair, low prices were slowly taking over their bussiness. On 4th May of 1551, two weeks after Religious Edict, Duke signed new deals with merchant leagues in Grand Duchy, again lowering taxes and supporting free trade leagues competing on their own. On 21st January of 1553 Karelian and Northern Karelian Prefectures were added to Grand Duchy under Unification Agreements from 23rd March of 1522. Majority of colonists were of Russian origin, although several Baltic and Mongol settlers could be found among them. And all of these things under new, united Church proclamated in Riga on 22nd April of 1551, hence Religious Edict - Livonia finally joined other Lutheran states. Formation of Baltic Lutheran Church sparkled some unrest and rebellions in countryside - also placing one religious group above others was a bit dangerous - yet in the very end, Livonia maintained unity as tolerant, secular state.

*A Golden Decade of North and Disastrous Decade of South

Brand new Lutheran Duchy suffered minor crisis for next two years since Declaration, economy however doesn't gives a damn about religion. And life simply goes on. On 29th August of 1554, just ten months later after Duke's marriage with noblewomam from minor branch of Vasa, their son - Andreas (or Andrievs) has been born. Unlike his father, Barnim dealt quite easily with securing succession line. Year of 1554 was marked with highest tax income in history of Duchy - and local economy was still growing. Livonian merchants were able to make connection with other major European trade cities and export salt, fur, timber and tarwax to the West. While Lutheran states from North - England, Sweden, Denmark and Livonia - were prospering quickly, South was driven by fear and pain. Disastrous invasion of Austria led by Ottoman Caliph and remarkable strategist, Sulayman I Kanumi, razed Habsburg Empire to the ground. Ottoman Army, armed as good as modern French or Austrian Army steamrolled proud Imperial Legions, taking revenge for Battle of Mohacs in 1555 and slained Emperor Karl and forty thousands of his people at Battle of Kutna Hora on 9th September of 1556. Following that victory Prague was razed to the ground, and new ruler - Ferdinand I - had to knee before Sulayman. Expect of goods from plundered cities, Ottoman Caliph took Habsburg's heartland - Austria, along with Vienna - now Vienniyye. Most prominent Sulayman's commander, Lala Mustapha, has been awarded with conquered lands now known as Avusturyan Beylik. Holy Roman Empire was crippling, feared of being conquered by Ottoman devils. House of Habsburg has been broken, losing much of his prestige and glory at the fields of Kutna Hora. Sulayman's Empire was constantly expanding in all directions - as Timariot-based economy demands from him to conquer more and more lands to maintain financial stability. How long can they expand? Most likely until final victory or final defeat. For now, they still pose a great danger to all people from Ukraine to Venice. Only Catholic state ready to defy Ottomans at the moment was France. After death of Karl German Electors entrusted, for a first time, French King Francois II has been crowned Emperor in Aachen. At first Queen Elizabeth called other Lutheran states to form Coallition against France, hoping to prevent it from restoration of new Frankish Empire. Francois died year later, but in 1560 Electors again defied Habsburg and made Charles IX of France Emperor. Elizabeth renewed her plans to forge large Lutheran Coallition, but eruption of French Civil War sparkled by supressed Huguenots and other reformation movements again made formation of Frankreich impossible. Coallition couldn't be formed again, although Baltic Axis remained in close contact with English Queen.

*Duke of Merchants

While most of Europe was concerned by either Ottoman danger of Frankish reunification, Livonian lands remained oasis of peace. Year after year more and more money were flowing into ducal treasury, despite very low taxes settled by Duke. In 1559 and 1560 Livonian economy was at the pinnacle. Local economy dealt itself with inflation and huge sums of thalers were gathered by treasurers. Merchants were praising new Duke, who's major priority was to encourage free trade reforms and turn Riga and Novgorod into new Venice, Genoa or London. According to Laveris de Navarro's "History of Livonia" from 1886, Duchy was among eight richest states in the world, being the richest one in Baltic and second richest Lutheran country (barely surpassed by England). Thanks to continuous Barnim's support and also simple luck, Livonia elevated itself from rebellious Baltic state to aspiring Major Power. Golden period of peace wouldn't occur without Sofia's aggressive policy which forced Duchy's enemies to step back. Now however it seems that Livonia's enemies are ready to challenge it again...
