1.0 - Zone Controller Tool is production ready!

Paradox Mods - Source Code - ko-fi

Features
Zoning Controller Tool
- Control zoning on roads, with a previeable tool where you can just hover the road and see what you'll get! Right-Click inverts the current zoning configuration

Planned Features
Parallel Tool - Create parallel roads and tracks out of any network. This tool will allow you to create parallel roads out of train tracks, highways and tram tracks without the need of tracing them. Simply click them and see the new parallel road appear.
Advanced Grid Tool - Create a grid by the amount of collumns and rows that you want. Simply set 2 control points to define a rectangle, and then, on a pop-up window, set how many rows and collumns you want and them cofirm it. voila!
Control Zoning Depth - Set zoning depth from 0 to 12 (or even more). Have EVEN MORE control over how zoning is generated on your roads. create a 2 deep zoning road for those nice warehouses, or 3 deep zoning road for those compact row homes. Or even, in the future, 12 deep zoning for 12x12 gigantic factories or mansions!

Zoning Controller Tool Demo

FAQ

Q: Isn't it just a Zoning Toolkit Mod as of now?
A: Yes, but, as said in the planned features, this mod plans to have a lot more tools who mainly focus on road behaviour. I also plan, with Zonning Toolkit Mod (ZT)'s developer permission, to implement a integration with ZT's zoning component where both mods would work together without conflicting with each other.

Q: Advanced road tools? TOOLS? but it only has one tool!!!
A: I'm sorry T-T. Soon it will have more tools!

Q: The cake is a lie?
A: Unfortunately :(

About Me

Hi! My name is LuxStice, lux for short. I'm a Mod developer from Brazil who started his carrer in KSP2 Modding, being the first person to sucessfully add new parts, custom plumes and textures to the game.
I love gaming(ofc), anime, movies and music (oh, so generic). But I really love them, i tend to analyse them on a deeper level, from the photography, color pallette, writting, creativity, impact in time of release etc... Feel free to annoy me with your movie/music/anime takes!

Hi! I just tried your mod briefly and I really like it so far. I did encounter something unexpected: When using the tool I turned off L and R and moused over a street that had houses on one side of it. The houses lost their zoning and went condemned. Is that intended, or should that only happen when I click? I didn't change either of the settings; they were both off as is the default.

Hi! Thank you for trying the mod!
If you go into the settings>Advanced Road Tools there are 2 toggles for that!
Either it can prevent zoning removal with buildings on the side or with zoning on the side, could you try to set them to true, they might be inverted!

If you find any issues with those toggles please report them so that i can look into it!

I should have thought of that. I will definitely test the settings next time I play and report back.

I spent some more time with your mod after leaving my first comment, and I have to say that I've decided I really like it a lot. Great job!

I think this is a necessary mod for Cities2.
You must have had a hard time producing it.
I hope it will be updated to an official version as soon as possible and used in a required mode.

Hey, here's a random thought that occurred to me while playing with your mod this morning: In addition to the L and R buttons it'd be nice to have a "*" button that turns on or off both at the same time. I alternate between L+R and no zoning a lot so having a single "both on/both off" button would save me a fair number of clicks.

Makes a lot of sense and it will go with my objective of the mod being the most vanilla it can be! Next update for sure!

No popup when doing a grid.
The Advanced Grid Tool is a planned feature, not in the mod yet! Its already planned and the basis is coded.

Hi,

if I activate your mod I can't edit or draw Netlanes anymore. Seems that the L/R buttons also are showing up in the wrong menu and have some kind of impact. I have tested it with deactiving your mod (everything works fine, can draw Netlanes) and activating it again (can't draw Netlanes anymore) a few times. Maybe you can have a look at it for one of the next versions.

Thank you

Thank you, Kemorno. Just wanted to add that it is maybe a conflict with the ExtraDetailingTools Mod. But you were faster. :)

I've noticed some unpredictable behavior when drawing roads. I won't swear this is 100% accurate, but what I think I observed is if you have zoning on and you draw a road that intersects a road drawn with zoning off, sometimes (?) zoning will reappear on that segment of the intersected road. I wish I could give you a better description but it's been kind of intermittent. It might not be a problem with your mod, because I think I remember the same thing happening with Zoning Toolkit.

Oh hey, one more thing: Like the settings, it seems like the "L" and "R" buttons might at least sometimes be flip-flopped. If I turn on zoning on the left side and then draw a road, it zones on the right. If I turn on zoning on the right, it zones on the left.

Changelog 0.3

  • Added icon to the Zoning Controller Tool
  • Added icon on the top left to quickly access zoning tool
  • Added a * option to select/deselect all sides
  • Fixed partially bug where some roads would be reset whenever a new road was drawn from it
  • Renamed the mod's settings to be more accurate

In addition to the L and R buttons it'd be nice to have a "*" button that turns on or off both at the same time.
Added in 0.3!

No popup when doing a grid.
This will come in a later update! As said in the main post, it is a planned feature, it already has some code developed but not production ready.

it is maybe a conflict with the ExtraDetailingTools Mod.
Still in investigation! But progress was made.

sometimes (?) zoning will reappear on that segment of the intersected road.
This is a complex subject, the game does not provide enough resources for me to detect whenever a road is created from another.
I did fix it partially so you might see a couple of roads that maintain their original zoning settings.
I will keep researching on ways to fix it permanently, thought of a couple, they just need testing!

it seems like the "L" and "R" buttons might at least sometimes be flip-flopped.
This is because the game treats Left and Right taking into account the direction that the road was created in!
I plan on adding a "Set as you see" option on the settings, where it will take into account the player's prespective instead of the game's orientation.

Developer, can you make this mode available as a separate UI window?
I added a Top Left button that gives quick access to the tool! I wanted to keep the tool the most vanilla I can, on a later update, I'll add an optional window for those who prefer that way!
