Controls needs a little tweak

Why anyone could choose "press right button, select and unclick" instead of click right button WITHOUT holding it, then select with left or giving us the option to use menu with one key that we could want (middle button) and select with the left?

You need to patch this, the press button it is slow and a bad design control. Also, the game needs a button to reset the default view zoom and angle.

Please tweak this in a patch :D

I'm not sure I understand what you mean. There were tests done with keeping the radial menu "open" but it wasn't really working that well. The current system should become second nature after you get used to it. (The middle mouse button is currently used to rotate the camera.)

Well, I'll try to explain me better

I don't like holding the mouse button and then moving to another button and then unclick, it is slow -also the menu have a huge delay-, also some people doesn't have the same precision with some mouses to move it while you hold it.

The things that some thinks works fine, it doesn't fit for others, not all of us are the same, and cutting or not giving the most basic options of binding controls in the game it is a design error. Make a right click on 99% of the games and apps, the response it's instant and the menu keeps opened until you make a left click. Why anyone could think that this behaviour doesn't work and a change its needed without giving the option to use the most basic design in computers?

Also, the menu wheel should be much bigger as now it is ridiculously tiny

If you are not going to give us control options, at least give us a proper wheel, bigger, better contrast when you select one option and without the delay, make it snappy and instant. Or give us the right click without hold, but also without the actual delay.

I also do not like the hold right click and move over icon to select. Would be better if it just stayed open with the right click then you can select options with left click.

Just my opinion though, I think it's what most people are used too.

More things as I play

All the game have a HUGE mouse delay, like 500ms. When you make any order, you don't see it instantly. Even the most simple move from a minion it isn't instant.

The wheel again. When I try to use it fast, I can't because the lag, if I click it and move the mouse fast to the position where the button should appear, instead of that the wheel shows up centered in that position, so I click on the minion, I move it and then I need to move it again or wait half a second to open and then move. And this, believe me, it is fcuking annoying when do you need to make it 5000 times in each game.

For me that's enough to discourage the game to anyone and stop playing it or ask for a refund until it is solved. Another paradox game with huge problems on the most basic design like dungeonland, I got screwed 2 times in less than a month.

Are you playing the game in full screen or windowed mode? You could try changing that and it might help.

Full screen and I just tried in another pc and I have the same lag in any action that I try, it is something with the game or the engine.

It is not when I move the cursor, thats fine and 0 lag, it is after a click

I actualy like the "Hold mouse button".

It works in fast situations much better.

The mouse delay is right. Go with the mouse to the border...wait...wait....wait...then the camera moves. I'm playing in fullscreen.

Also I had a crash. The error just said there was an exception and a dump file or something like this has been created.

I don't mind the radial menu, really.

The mouse delay for moving the screen bothers me.

And it appears like there's an order delay? I was having issues in the boss first trying to attack the tables, but my minions would just ignore my right clicks.

There is a very slight delay when issuing move or attack orders. This is intentional and it's actually only the graphic effect that is delayed as I understand it- the order is actually registered by the system. If you are experiencing a heavy delay you might be having a performance-related issue depending on how your hardware is set up.

I run the game in a i7-860 with 12gb of ram and a gtx580, I don't think it is a performance issue as I also don't have any fps problems. It is a game related problem in the delay, don't know if showing the graphic effect as the wheel but it is annoying. Also as I understand that you already discarded the alternative control options, could you please give us an option to disable any delay of radial menus or clicks and the moving with the mouse?

Yeah, it's not a performance issue here. I'm able to stream smoothly while playing. The arrow keys on my keyboard INSTANTLY move my camera around (though less precisely by far), but I have to hold my mouse at the border for a second for it to start moving. I'm having a doozy of a time with the camera controls right now.

Enjoying the game though, I'd just like to see that quality of life issue worked out.

The movement of the camera with the mouse button they already said that it is intentional and they could fix it in a patch, what I am talking about it is a completely different thing as it is related to the UI.

I'm ok with the click and hold, I've had 2 crashes so far during opening mission in the campaign, don't really have much time ATM as I'm working tomorrow but I'll play more over the weekend, as for the crashes not sure but it was the same as Chaz0r.

I'm running a i7 920, 12gb ram, 580 gfx, and win8 pro.

I do think the radial menu would work best with "right click opens/closes radial, left click selects an options." It's fine to have, say, Hovering over Tier I shows you the Tier I minions, I like that. I just don't like the radial menu closing like it does. Feels like it would be better with a controller than a mouse/kb.

I like the controls so far. I think you get used to them after a bit. If I had any complaint it would be how the camera goes into "strategic" view very fast but even that is quite minor. So I'm happy... for now xD

I have my gripes too, and the difficulty of scrolling around is adding to each one. Most of us don't scroll in one long motion, but scroll to a room, then to a unit. This makes the delay constantly interrupting.

Another thing that bothers me, is that you get very little info on which squad you control. You get a yellow ring which you don't see. It happens all the time that I don't know which squad I chose. And so I click a number of a Squad I already picked. I wan't it to go where my camera is. And the camera flies to the other end of the dungeon. And I have to scroll back to where the fight is... I react immediately after the mistake, and then I get the scrolldelay again when I am already frustrated. The same happens alot, when a Squad is on guard duty. Then suddenly it comes wandering about. Because I clicked 3 in a fight instead of 2. And so the guarding squad has started to wander of to some distant fight.

You are not making clear which squad or the Imp you are controlling. So you easilly give the wrong squad the orders.

I don't care too much for the teleport either. It turns into dump all your units in a pile and then just look. No strategy or tactics. You should have disallowed teleport through the gates, or at least made a substantial delay between teleproting squads in (not the Imp, he should be on seperate timer or as is now).

This dumping units, makes it very hard to target any specific unit in battle, and so you end up not really using spells.

My game has crashed 3 times now in level 2. Didn't have a save the first time, and am frankly getting tired of it.

Anyways, from my few hours, it's a decent game 75-79%. There are many good things too.

I agree with the others. There is an absurd delay when I right click and then to have to move my mouse while still holding the right menu feels akward at best.

Would be much better if the right click context menu is snappier and opens immediately without this delay and then stays open until you left click on what you want or right click again to close it or if it were to leave your screen view.

Your reps said that an intentional delay was put into the edge scrolling because you expect people to use WASD (even if it's not comfortable for them) so I have to wonder if the delay in the right click menu is also intentional for some odd reason.

I don't think its an intentional delay because I don't have a delay when I right click any unit or room. (I don't notice a delay if there is an intentional one) I can understand why they want you to use WASD to move the camera rather than scroll. Its much quicker and without a mini-map makes more sense. Take Starcraft 2 for an example. If you watch pros, they might scroll a little to the left or right to adjust what they are doing otherwise they will click the mini-map. Since we don't have one is much easier to zoom out and hold WASD to get to where you want. Or just click circular objects like the rooms or the unit groups. An option to drop the delay for people that feel they need it is fine. Adding an option to click right and hold context would be fine but I like the quick feel they have of right click (hold) - select option (release right click). Its just something to get use to and personally I think you made a good decision by making it a default way of playing. Other controls to streamline unit control would be helpful. I don't mind the micro-managing of the game of what I've played so far.

Unrelated - I like what I have played so far. If the controls are patched to streamline unit control more and make it easier to keep track of what unit needs what or where it is I would give this game a solid 7.5 - 8. I cant play past the second level atm. Submitting a bug report later.
