Gang,

I read somethings about this topic on one of the forums, but I wondered if some authority (self-appointed acceptable) would chose to comment. In most strategy games, the level of difficulty is represented by the AI players 'cheating' (getting more/faster tech and military; allying with each other vs. you, and never with you; etc. The 'Civ' games are notorious for this). However, someone claimed that EU does not do that. Rather, it's *your* country (starting units, tech advances, costs, etc.) that change due to the difficulty settings. Personally, I think that's entirely appropriate and a much better resolution. It preserves the flavor of the history/diplomacy/religion factor between countries.

Comments?

Hurrah???

I think it's greate that the AI works like this. However I do think that the difficoulty levels are a bit toothless. Much to easy to win even on the harder levels.

To really make it difficult you have to manually edit your stab_tax.csv file to lower the cash income you (and the AI) gets. Makes it much harder to success in expansion as you will probably take out loans while at war =)

I think difficulty should just be a permanent minimum badboy value. Your country therefor does not start with any lack of funds or anything, just more people are likely to beat up on you, even if you do not expand.

Yes, only trouble of badboy is usually the constant DOWs. Even if you made peace with them just one month ago. You must have enough diplomats so that you can make peace with them simultaniously and that corrects the problem. Btw, is it just me or is anyone's neighbouring nations constantly at -2 or -3 stability?

This happens to me, too. As soon as AI nations start getting the minus 5 stability loss for declaring war within five years of the last peace, they're constantly suffering from terrible stability.

Hmmm, is this old stuff or with 1.08 ?

The reson I ask is that 1.08 works a lot better regarding this IMO.
