Old Leadership Sign-up:

1. Marcher of Ardans
2. King of Meddeland
3. King of Hendal

New Leadership Sign-up:

1. Marcher of Ardans

((If I don't get him I'll probably be just some guy))

((Okay, so two things:

1) We definitely need more leadership sign-ups. My original plan was to wait until the 12th - I may not wait quite that long, but we definitely need a few more people in the pool.

2) No one's playing Meddeland. This isn't great for the Meddish. I may have to rebalance the factions if that keeps up. The Meddish have some good qualities - deep pockets, siege weaponry, and burning desire to reconquer their neighbors. Ya'all should consider it.))

Or, you know, let the Meddish burn.

Considering this I'll add my name to the list.
1. King of Meddeland
If I don't get the King I'll just play as a Meddish character which I was planning to do anyway.

((I'm no longer in the running for King of Dalmira.))

Baldwin Montague in his first battle in 493

Name: Baldwin Montague
Age: 35
Born: 465
Nationality: Hendal
Biography: Most of Baldwin's past is unknown, but he came to prominence in 493 in a fierce battle against some of the "Robber Barons". As the centre of the Hendal line was about to collapse, Baldwin bravely led a charge against the enemy. This sudden counterattack broke the will of the opposing force, and Baldwin was credited with almost single-handedly saving the Hendal army from certain destruction. Due to this feat, Baldwin was given command of a small cavalry force charged with patrolling the northern border of the Kingdom. When a large military revolt broke out in 498, Baldwin organized the northern forces (who had been in disarray after their defeat by a force of mutinous soldiers) and smashed the rebelling army in battle, putting the mutiny to an end. For this service to the Kingdom, Baldwin was widely commended, and several important courtiers told the King of Hendal that Baldwin would be useful, should Hendal find itself in another war. Now, with the emergence of a mysterious horde to the north of Hendal, Baldwin may be called upon once more to save the Kingdom.

((Character not yet posted but due to the low turnout, I will probably try and play as someone from Meddeland))

1. King of Meddeland
2. King of Dalmira
3. Marcher of Ardans

((I'll make a Meddish character regardless, but I guess I'll throw my hat into the ring))

1. King of Meddeland

Edit: Even so, I guess I should go ahead and get my traits if those aren't specific to what position you have.

Character Name: Dal'Athgar an Odal'in Uthbar
Nationality: Dalmira
Born: 465
Age: 35

Bio: Born in the Southern Highlands near Gottor Dal'Athgar grew up in the distinctly different highland culture of the country. This culture significantly different to the lowlands in dialect and as well as habitats and norms. Some of these differences include a higher degree of respect and loyalty to the locale clan leader, a much more ruthless attitude this helps contribute to the Dalmiran Highlands breeding some of the toughest and most ferocious troops, though severely lacking in discipline and numbers. The biggest pitfall for Gottori soldiers is the sever lack of equipment; the best equipped soldiers merely having a shield and sword and the average having just a pike and dagger.

It was this war like and ruthless culture that Dal'Athgar grew up in and it heavily affected him as from a young age he was pushed into either succeeding or falling behind and being forgotten. It was in this do or die environment that Dal'Athgar thrived and slowly moved up his clans leadership slowly being one of the leaders of the Odal'in clan. As one of the leaders of the Odal'in clan and being a ferocious warrior himself Dal'Athgar was eventually promoted to be one of the chief military leaders in the region and after getting this position he sought to use it to better equip the clansmen. Though this would ultimately prove futile as the poor fiefdom just couldn't afford to better equip the clansmen. Though his efforts were not in vain and it endeared him to the average soldier and he forever gained their respect.

((Explanation of how the name works:
The name is pronounced like the following:
Dal' ahhth-Gar an O-dal-in ooohth-Bar

In the name: Dal'Athgar an Odal'in Uthbar it is broken down like this:
- Dal is attached to the person given name (in this case Athgar) if they are a person of high status in their respective clan.
- Athgar is the given name of the person, basically what they are referred by
- an is used to signify the belonging to a clan, always used prior to a clan name when referring to a person
- Odal'in is the clan name
- Uthgar is the given name of ones father if boy, or mother if girl

status attachment (such as Dal) include:
Tal - signifying the current duke
Bal - signifying one of high military status
Fal - signifying one of high religious status
Dal - signifying a clan leader
Cal - Signifying an ordinary clan member
Kal - Signifying the lowest ranking clan member (pronounced Khal)

More to be added
))

Name: Armand Vasa
Date of Birth: 473 (27 years old)
Place of Birth: Igskada, Dalmira
Nationality: Dalmiran
Occupation: Court Scribe to the King
Backstory:

Born in Igskada, Armand Vasa was the fourth of five children and the last of three sons. He was delicate from childhood, and suffered frequent bouts of ill-health during his youth. His family, although belonging only to the lesser nobility of Igskada, was somewhat prominent. His father was a soldier and courtier who served in the King’s standing army and won several tourneys; his mother was the daughter of a famous judge. When he was five years old, his father’s title and lands were stripped from him by the duke of Igskada on accusations of conspiracy, leaving the family in debt; with the aid of royal grants on the part of a sympathetic Victor X, however, the family was able to avoid financial difficulties. At the age of nine, young Armand was sent to study philosophy with in the capital.

King Victor X, still fond of the Vasa family even if they were no longer nobility, arranged to secure Armand a position in the church, and, unable to refuse such a generous offer, it became necessary that he join the clergy. He had strong academic interests, and threw himself into studying for his new post, learning the old Dalmiran writing used by the church, in addition to theology. In 490, shortly before his death, King Victor X nominated Armand to become a bishop in Igskada. As Armand had not yet reached the official minimum age, it was necessary that he journey to receive special dispensation from the Superiacy. This secured, Armand was consecrated bishop in the spring of 490. Soon after he returned to his diocese in 491, it was clear he intended to be a reformer, reorganizing the way the lands were administered to increase efficiency.

In 495, the clergymen of Iskada asked Armand to be one of their representatives to the King. In court at Halbstadht, he was a vigorous advocate of the Church, arguing that bishops should have more political power and the nobility should pay larger tithes. As a result of his time in court, Armand earned some degree of respect from the late Victor X’s wife, entering into her service as her confessor. Armand advanced politically by faithfully serving the Queen-Mother, and in 499, Richelieu was made court scribe, and was given responsibility for keeping records for the king.

((Traits: Scribe (0), Natural Administrator (+++)))

Having a bit more time now than before, I would love to give my shot at the Dalmira King, so yea sign me up for that race. If I don't win the I simply stick with my current character and traits :D

1. King of Dalmira

((I vote sneaky for king. When your giving land out remember who supported you early on :p ))

((I vote sneaky for king. When your giving land out remember who supported you early on :p ))

((Noted, but interestingly not how kings works... We're not running a crowned republic in Dalmira. :p

We've got plenty of players and applicants so I'm probably going to close leadership applications and pick leaders in about 12-14 hours [that would be around 10 AM PST tomorrow, or 6 PM GMT]. Then we can get the game properly started.))

((Here's who won the leaderships.

King of Dalmira: Canadian_95_RTS

King of Hendal: Maxwell500

King of Meddeland: Marschalk

Marcher of Ardans: oxfordroyale

Dagch Morin of the Tavan Morin: baboushreturns

Superius of Namidism: king cruel

Canadian_95_RTS, you'll need to roll a new character, basically, since you're going to be playing a King.

oxfordroyale, you're fine with the traits you already have.

I'll be announcing PC members of your various royal families shortly, except of course for the Meddish, since their royal family is secret.))

((The game has now begun. There's no inaugural update. The first deadline for orders will be in four days, at around 10 AM PST 2/14 (that's 6 PM GMT). That's Saturday.

Things faction leaders should do:
1) Make their characters and check with me to get their traits
2) Appoint their courtiers to useful roles
3) Get orders in.

Remember that if you want something done right you should send a PC to do it. The more orders you personally submit, the less likely they are to succeed, and your character can only be in one place at once.

A reminder on orders - do not PM me orders unless they are actually secret. My inbox can't accommodate all the PMs I'd get, so I want most orders to be published in thread. If an order has secret aspects or a secret agenda, then you can PM me those - but if you're just, like, taking a census or raising a tax, I will penalize you for PMing me that information. Post it in thread instead.))

Hint: In Dalmira, Dukes have their own treasuries. In all other nations, projects undertaken by subordinates, like governors and generals, will draw money from the national treasury.

Name: Dagch Morin Octar Dengizich
Age: 32
Born: 468

Octar was born on the steppe to one of the bodyguards of the last Dagch Morin. He grew up at war fighting the strange people from the far east. Growing a reputation for himself he was given a banner and ranged far and wide across the steppe slaying and burning anything in his path. However the war was lost and the people began what is now known as the long march. He suffered with his people as they crossed that expanse of wasteland surviving on just a few drops of water a day. However when they reached that valley at the end of that great waste he gathered his banner and took his riders forth once again pillaging and plunder killing all those who opposed him. When the old Dach Morin passed he lead his banner and a collection of others against the other two factions using his spears and horsearchers he managed to kill off the other contenders claiming the position of Dagch Morin for himself. Now he leads his people into a new era. For the Tavan Morin!

"The Ishawri is coming! The Ishawri is coming!"

These words, shouted usually by a shepherd boy, always gave Kishburne glee. The burning sensation crossed up through his fingertips, up his arm, across his shoulder blades and down his other arm.

He was going to this, and as what existed of a guard scrambled to met him, he smelled the fear.

Oh yes, this will be fun.

The fire swirled, the yelling turning to screams. His gift was a gift indeed, after many years of self training. He decided to do something with it one day, and this was what he did.

Stepping over the ashes, he politely knocked on a door. "Sir, where is the mayor's office?" As per usual there was no answer, so after a rolling of his eyes he gave his ultimatum "Tell me where the mayor is or I burn down this house and everyone in it."

Kishburne didn't know if it was his tone or his threat, but it always had the same reaction. Within a fightened yelp told him to go to the biggest house on the hill. Kishburne only asked to double check, but it was always the biggest house on the hill. An odd sort of stereotype.

After marching up the hill, he did what he did best. Flames flickered and blazes blew, and soon nothing was left but soot and ash.

Another job well done, he stole a small ewe and made his way to the next village, to do it all again.

Orders: Cross through Northern Meddland on foot, heading west. During this process the Ishawri will do what he does best. Burning down constables, mayor's offices, taxmen and authorities of all sort. Let's have some fun boi.

I am proud to announce today that several of our peoples greatest leaders and warriors will receive banners of their own in preparation for our entrance into the greenlands in the coming days. Among them will be Rizzo the famed horsemen all lightly armed warriors should flock to his banner. I am proud to announce that Ariq Boke Toluid will also be granted a banner I urge all those heavily armed warriors to join him. And finally last but not least I am proud to announce that my own son the Doba Morin Kh'azaro will be granted a banner. If you are a good tracker in possession of a swift horse join him. That is all.
