Just catching up... wow, this is fast moving but amazingly fun! :) It's a great show of what even a 'minor' state can achieve.

Clearly two wars by hostile neighbours is what the people really wanted... right?
Clearly. :D
Heh, loved the way the Egyptian war panned out.
And guess Demartids are now neck deep in.. .well, you know what :p
Yeah, I was quite scared for a moment...:p The ship numbers and army size...
Ruling Rhodes seems rarely to be without incident or interest :D
Clearly it's THE place to get ulcers. :D

Yeah, I update fast - for now at least. RL tend to go up and down when it comes to time to play and write. But this is fast to write of course, which helps. :)

Chapter IX - The Rule of Philon Gylippid
Slaves! Slaves everywhere! Before this war started, we had barely 20 odd census units of them. After having fought Phrygia for a while, we were up to over 60! As the benevolent ruler I am, I personally approved the emancipation of 26 census units to freemen. I'm a nice guy like that. They won't move back home though. There are limits.

I'm Philon Gylippid by the way. Pleasure to make your aquaintance.

The war ended with us claiming the province of Milyas and some gold by the way. Effectively doubling our presence in Anatolia.

However, the war against Aetolia goes pretty much downhill. We are in no way able to press back. I see the writing on the wall here. And Right before the end of my term, Macedon decided to take the fight to us. Heavens have mercy on us!

Thankfully, the new Archon has direct access to the gods!

Why is it Rhodes always goes to war just around the time one is changing Archons? (or so it seems at least)

Totally coincidental I assure you. :D Give years go fast though. :)

Well I wanted to say "hopefully you'll survive" but as I already saw your post in the Discord server, I think the more appropriate question should be "how much did you take in this war?" :p. But it's not as if you'd lose anyway, I guess ;)?

I need to sub in on this and I that when I have free time I can devote to this! Sure it will be good Nikolai!

Cheers!

Just binge-read all of this and I love how your journey in Rhodes has gone. Looking forward to more.

Who is next? Selucids? Romans? Carthage?
It seemes like Rhoes is a very loveable country. :p

If you look at those images you will notice not all is gains. ;)

Thanks, and welcome! :)

Thanks! I promise there is more fun ahead.:D

Who´s nexrt you ask? Well, Rome and Carthate is busy warring and expanding in the West so far. Selucids are a spent force, almost no more. But Phrygia is far from a spent force... Egypt is constantly in civil wars, thankfully.

Chapter X - The Rule of Antisthenes Demaratid
Woe me. Woe. Woe I say! I am Antisthenes Demaratid and I had to forsake the Greek mainland to Aeotolia. History will surely remember me well, I´m afraid.

That is all there is to say. The Macedons are not invading after our mercenaries sent them packing from Anatolia. But they are numberous over there.

The military faction is taking over now. May they be of the more blessed sort.

Alas, poor Anisthenes. Maybe he has a chance to return to power, though based on his portrait, I'm not going to place any bets.

Ah, glory to Rhodes! Lucky those mercenaries were available, it seems!

Chapter XI - The Rule of Klearchos Demaratid
Attention!

This country is in danger, and will be ruled as such; with strict dicipline! I am Kelearchos Demaratid and I am you Archon; your commander. Obey!

ee0UBnI.png

First of all: With the Macedon pig's defeat in Anatolia, we soon secured a white peace. One day. One day we will return the favor and take the fight to them. I swear by the gods.

Secondly, our forces together with our rebuilt military will crush these Phrygian dogs that dares to declare on us. They consider us weak. We are not.

Unfortunately the war was not won when my term was up. This Hektor has a second chance to redeem himself.

War. War. War never changes. Though it would be interesting to see Rhodes make an expedition westward across the sea... ;)

Chapter XII - The Rule of Hektor Demaratid and Mnesidemos Demaratid
Well then. The people's choice is back in town! And just in time to score some points and slaves from the Phrygians! Life is good!

After five years of looting and, frankly, winning the war all by myself from my popular p(a)lace in Rhodes, I was, unfortunately, required to give the honor of signing the peace to Mnesidemos. He's all about money, that bastard.

wu7FbMp.png

Heeeeeeelloooooo everybody! I am the one to make you rich! And you! And you! Slaves, land and money everywhere!

YFqaC5b.png

I, the great Mnesidemos, gave you all this! Remember it, and prosper!

Well, it hasn't been perfect but more or less it's been a continued period of prosperity for Rhodes.
