Hi guys, I read all your comments and I felt the need to write this, I really understand your concerns, I am also a player like you, who wants things to move faster, so that I can enjoy them NOW if possible, but I can understand deeper than that.

There may be a lot of reasons that maybe things go slow, in fact, behind Paradox there are people, not robots, and I can understand that working for only CS2 may not be possible, prioritizing is needed, maybe they work on other projects that require imediate attention, or maybe the actual team is not so big, recruiting new people is not easy also (trainings and onboarding also requires time), or maybe they don't have enough money so that they can't make things work faster. I totally understand, I also worked in management and things are not easy when you run a business.

Is it true that you are disappointed because you paid and didn't receive yet, and the team of CS2 came for several times to tell us that the things are postponed again. Trust me, even when you build a product, you can think and brain storm thousands of possible scenarios and anticipate many possible bugs, when you launch it you receive the real feedback and bugs from your clients, so another thousands of scenarios and bugs, and this is normal. Nothing is perfect. Look at GTA 5 which still have bugs and glitches after years of support, updates and a team of hundreds of people who worked at it!

So, I really love that they decided to fix the bugs and the basic functionalities first, and then focus on final touches and adding more to the game. This is a normal mindset, to put the horse before the carriage.

I am also waiting for improvements, especially for adding mods in Nvidia GeForce Now. I bought the subscription in October 2023 in order to play this game, and I hoped that they add mods faster also to this. I spent about 200 euros to this just to play CS2, I really love the game. I bought the game even though I was not sure that they will add it to Nvidia GeForce Now, and I don't have a PC, but I bought it because I wanted to support the team for this game. Of course, I knew it will not be perfect, but someday it will. I don't regret it for a second! Because I did it with all my heart. And 200 euros is much more...

Recently I decided to save money to buy a PC just to play this game. Nothing else, I really love it, sincerely, and I really hope that it will become very good with time. I respect the team and even though they made some mistakes in communication and deadlines here and there, they integrated a lot of our feedback and it says a lot. Overall, I focus on the full side of the glass and wish to the team to not be disappointed about the negative comments and have motivation to go further.

All your efforts are really appreciated, and remember that the human nature is wired to focus on negativity instead of positivity. If there are tens of things that we like and 1 thing that we don't like, we focus on only that one thing. I totally understand, but keep moving forward. I know how important is that your work should be appreciated, so I speak for all the people who also really appreciate your work. You did a wonderful job! Keep working on the project and don't loose your enthusiasm!

We are here to play this game and support it as much as needed in order to have a wonderful final product!

Thank you very much

♥️

The game is screaming for a breath of fresh air and I really don't understand why, if there is content ready, it's not being released.
It's quite simple. If they release paid content before the base game is properly fixed, they will be review bombed and sales & reputation will suffer.

Personally, I think it's the right call to properly patch all the bugs in the base game first and then when most everyone have a better sentiment about the game, they can start to sell DLC's and other content which now will be perceived as a positive thing, which in turn would bolster the longevity of this game long term.

At least that is my approach I am taking before spending any more money on this game. We'll see how it all plays out sooner or later :)

Thank you for clarifying things, however what I miss on this post over here is what was added on X - the current priorities in one picture which I think is looking good!

PDX/CO can't even coordinate marketing on different platforms.

As for the extended delays on shipping completed DLCs - I have thoughts but I deleted them, suddenly I'm just too tired.

Do the region packs have anything to do with the asset creator? 3,500 buildings and parts should be coming into the game at once. I'm waiting for that to happen so I can finally have more choice. And then there should be more animations in parks, stadiums and fire brigade operations. Is that coming too??? And the old building animation would be cool instead of the ugly cranes, it was a totally unnecessary change, as was swapping the smileys for stars. Time and energy was wasted on that...

Oh man... come on! Of all the games out there you could have named, you brought up the only company that still does it old-school and only releases the finished product that you can purchase and play from beginning to the end with no major issues, if ever.

This is clearly NOT the case. Not even close really.

And btw: Q4 2024 means Christmas release, which means waiting till february for a bug fix patch, which will cause a delay in Bridges & Ports to Finnish Fall because of the Summer Break.. All in all, maybe this game will be finished for the release of GTA6

LOL

I feel like we are owed refunds for the difference on the Ultimate Edition. I’m happy to repurchase those DLCs if and when they’re actually released, but having us loan you $90 over 12 months ago to only have the base game and a laughable Beach asset pack seems to be borderline consumer fraud. All the good will you started building back up is gone.

I agree with the frustration others have expressed. The constant delays are unacceptable. The project manager for this game needs to be replaced. I’ve reverted back to CS1 and won’t be playing CS2 until it’s fully fixed and delivers what was promised. As someone who runs a development MSP company, I understand the challenges, but the focus should be on fixing the critical issues, not just catering to publisher demands. This mismanagement is disappointing
I called for replacing top leadership a while back on Instagram and got banned from the CO social media accounts, so this platform and Steam are my last remaining places to talk cities. I’ve been more than generous with my patience and I’m really just angry I was sold a product that was not complete.

I’m a graphic designer. If I had a client who paid me for a full brand package, with a rollout strategy for marketing, and a year into it, I hadn’t kept my timelines for said client and they still had their basic logo, they’d fire me and litigate me to oblivion in small claims court to get their money back.

No idea why some people are upset that paid DLC is delayed. This was already communicated months ago that the first priority is getting the game and asset editor in a good position. This is no surprise and the priorities are the right ones to get the foundation up to snuff for the future. It has also be communicated before that the creator asset packs can only be deployed when the asset creator is ready. Also a line tool...praise be!

I assume most of the anticipated things will be here by the first anniversary of CS2.

Thanks for update. Communication has improved a lot lately. We have waited already nearly a year, so a few extra weeks won't kill me know. Besides there are a lot of other games to play anyway. Frostpunk 2 comes out this week too.

I have been very critical in the past. But this was not some shocking revelation. If I can choose between a bug free, stable game with asset editor or some overdue DLC assets I choose the first one. Since this is a positive message I am ready for the downvotes :D

This is entirely unacceptable. People have paid a lot of money for the Ultimate Edition, only for the promised content to be delayed to at least one and a half years later. Every other type of business and you would get your pants sued off. You can't just keep posting apology after apology, you need to deliver or refund. The time for "we are working on it" and "we are sorry" and "thanks for your patience" has passed. You failed. You sold something you didn't deliver. You failed to do better. There is no reason for anyone to actually trust you on being able to deliver what was promised. Nothing in these last 10 months indicates that you are able to do so.

There is a significant chance that some people who paid for the Ultimate Edition have straight-up died between the game release and the release of the Ultimate Edition content they paid for.

Maybe it's in a similar state of the "Beach Properties", and they have or need to update it to avoid the bad opiniones about it like happened to "BC"?
I'm sure that's why they're doing it. They don't want backlash, but there is also backlash from those who paid for it, and those who desperately want some new buildings...
Maybe we should just vote on it and see whether people want it released. They should show the assets and the prices and then see.

Hello City Builders,

We wanted to take a moment to update you on the status of our upcoming releases. We know many of you are excited for new content, and we want to be transparent about where things currently stand.

The two Creator Packs — Modern Architecture and Urban Promenades — have been completed by their creators. While the Economy Patch, Detailers Patch, and Decorations Patch are all part of our commitment to improving the base game, we are well aware that the Asset Editor is one of the most crucial remaining features in fulfilling our promise to make mods fully available in-game. To ensure we don’t split our focus, we’ve made the decision to push the release of the Creator Packs to Q4. This will also affect the upcoming release of Bridges & Ports Expansion that will instead come in Q2 2025. We will continue dedicating our efforts to the base game before shifting focus to paid content. Our goal is to ensure the community is satisfied with the state of the game, and once we’ve achieved that, we’ll be excited to release these amazing packs to you!

/The Cities Team

For those interested, here is an update from Colossal Order and what they are currently dedicating their focus to:
Dear Paradox and Colossal Order. It is really a kind gesture to inform us, instead of waiting to see what will happen, we can plan the future more clearly thanks to the information you have shared with us. Yes, we have been playing the game for 1 year and we expect something from you, but your roadmap is very, very logical. First, let's make the game perfect, then decorate the game with DLCs. This is really a very logical move. Many players are rebelling, but it should not be forgotten that the CS1 game has reached a perfect level, but it is necessary to think about how many years it took. They need to calculate how many years it took for the additional packages in CS1 to come out. I know that CS2 will be great too, and I am trying to enjoy today by thinking about the future. I am sure that this game will reach a perfect level in the next 1 year, but I also ask you to surprise us from time to time so that we can be excited.

This has to be like the 8th time I've felt disappointed with an announcement. Delaying the same content over 4 times is just insane. On the bright side, I'm glad to see deeper information on WHY the asset editor isn't out yet. I'd hope we would see it before or around the 1 year anniversary (or maybe before 2025), but that seems like a fever dream.

"if they release the packs now they will be review bombed about everything wrong with the game"

Guys? They're gonna get review bombed when they come out for being too little too late, delayed 4 times, and part of an incomplete game that has taken the devs over a year to still not get to 1.0 status.

And they should be! They're not being review bombed! They're being reviewed!

I changed my review from positive, after economy 2.0, to negative, because of this post. The game deserves bad reviews. It will get them.

By the way, why are announcements like this not placed up in the announcement card section anymore? I notice all the delay and failure announcements are kept hidden nowadays. Can't own up to it all the way, huh?

They think this is limiting visibility of bad PR, but the streisand effdct surely takes hold. People are gonna talk about this be it here, steam, reddit, or their reviews on steam.

Finishing content and wiholding it WHILE TELLING US ITS FINISHED because you don't want us to tell people about how ATROCIOUSLY handled this last year has been is such an insult that guess what? I'm leaving a bad review for these packs no matter what, because of it. Because you delayed them to try and save face when you KNOW they're finished and KNOW they have already been delayed endlessly. This is bad game development and awful service and you DESERVE the bad reviews. I don't care if they're the most amazing content gaming has ever seen, you have created a product that is an insult to the customer by merely existing so long after it was promised to arrive. WILLFULLY, INTENTIONALLY DELAYED DESPITE BEING READY TO GO because you're scared of bad reviews that you completely deserve. That alone makes this games launch the worst in gaming history, imo.

If CO thought Mariina saying "Maybe this game just isn't for you" in hte face of problems from 9 months ago was the worst PR they'd experience with this game, they're gonna wake up tomorrow very surprised by the PC Gaming articles about "Paradox/Colossal Order announce that they've delayed finished content because they're scared of being called out on how bad they are at actually releasing content".

(Also, is anyone gonna talk about how they announced the asset editor will be released IN BETA FORM? For almost a year you've been working on this and when it finally releases- still no timeframe given, by the way- it won't even be a full release? You have got to be joking!)

Nothing short of a full "everything from here on out is free" No Mans Sky situation is going to save this game, and that sucks, because we all know paradox is not the kind of publisher to happily give things away for free. They want to make 50 DLCs for this game and can't even manage to successfully release a single one in a year, they'll never have the good graces to go full PR Spin mode and try to do right by the players- they gotta get that DLC money. And frankly I don't think this game is going to get enough players back to make any DLC money. We are looking at this game's first death knell. It is not going to survive another. I don't think so. And that sucks. I don't want it to die, but it's...it's gasping for air right now, and CO has covered it's mouth and told us not to worry, they'll take their hand off eventually.

If the people left are on the forums and reddit and are all pissed, all completely insulted by this, all wondering how this continues to go so unbelievably wrong, every single time...who do they think they're gonna keep around, and get back, by doing...things...like delaying...finished...content? Do you think new players are gonna see these comments and go "Wow, gotta buy into this game!"? Do you think existing players making these comments are gonna take another year of this? It's a wonder we've taken a year of it. You should be on your knees begging us to continue putting up with this, you have no idea how LUCKY you are that players like me are somehow still here, somehow still letting themselves have hope you'll do right by us and still for some reason sticking around when you repeatedly fail to.

You have done everything wrong in the past year (let's be fair and make it year and a half, since you lied through your high-poly teeth through the game's marketing, by the way) and some of us are still here, still hoping you'll do right by us. Do you realize how crazy it is we continue to give you chances? How grateful you should be we're dumb enough to be here to be angry with you at all?

Supposedly every single comment gets read and feedback gets noted from it. I want this comment printed out and passed around. You guys don't seem to understand how cosmically inconceivable it is that you have fans left to BE upset with you at this point. Perhaps if you understood that the thin ice you're on was already melting 6 months ago, you'd do better, but frankly after this update I'm not convinced you're capable of better.

I'm so disappointed in this company right now. It really seemed like things were gonna start turning around. I genuinely thought you were gonna do it.

Dude, upon buying a product you as the customer and the seller agree on a contract. Seller delivers a product as advertised and buyer returns that favor with cash. Lots of Cash $$$

We did our part. Paradox/CO has not fulfilled their part. Yes, there's grace, especially after launch. But cmon, it's been almost a year and the game feels stuck in time.

PDX/CO can't even coordinate marketing on different platforms.

As for the extended delays on shipping completed DLCs - I have thoughts but I deleted them, suddenly I'm just too tired.

Hey @Potoroo after all, welcome to the dark side *evil elmo gif*. Jk ;)

Anyway, someone please call me once the game has some sort of life in it? I don't care how well the bugs are fixed and yade yade, as long as there are no animations, no people playing tennis, no full stadiums, no kids playing, I really do not need to touch this game again. At least for me there's no motivation otherwise. Sorry.

I don't know if the game will be abandoned and the studio closed as many times it happened with Paradox recently.

All I can say is despite the frustration, I still think the game can shine once bugs are fixed, content is added and other stuff will come (animations, bikes, the HORRIBLE shadow bug finally fixed, etc.)

My review is negative but It will change to positive once and if the game can reach those achivements. which it can do if CO keep working for the next years.

I am taking your posting just as an example, it is nothing personal :)

But have you read what you wrote?
Literally you are saying what more or less everybody is feeling already: "the game can shine" - after it has got a complete overhaul.
Bugs fixed, content added, features added, functionality added.

That literally means a different game. And I think you have hit the nail on the head.

THIS game however is lost.
