Now, there are some more errors in the map. Many new provinces are in wrong areas, regions. Helena province for example in Montana is still in an oceanregion. So when you order an airstrike, your bomber tryed the fly in that oceanarea insteed to helena. Nearly every province in india is putted in US areas, regions.
So I want refresh the new provinces. That takes many days to do, and with the balanched economy that should become a little modproject.

Yes, changing/balancing province.csv is a huge task. But I was hoping that we could benefit from mumias work in this regard. He has already started to rearrange areas and regions:

If you look at the date of his post you can see that it's quite a few months old. Sadly, their forum is quite dead since last April. Nevertheless I hoping he is still continuing his map mod... :)
 
I make good advances with the area/region Organization of the provinces. Actually, I've done all europe and nearly all Russia. Until 3 or 4 days I can be finished with zhis work.
And thank you for the hint with extra_text.csv. I'll test this tomorrow. When this will work, so I hope, I can modify the map much better.

Most of the work seems to wait for you in Asia. Especially China is quite complicated. Since I'm now adapting the chinese minors of revolt.txt I can promise you some hours of hard work.;) I hope that I can offer the file tomorrow or Saturday for download.

That are indeed good news. :) Are using only an atlas or do you refer to wikipedia? The wiki is quite helpful in this regard. Sadly it's also very distractive. ;)

It's indeed a huge task and hard work, but we'll do it step by step. :)
 
Don't know it that can help, but I did a file where I referenced all of the vanilla map provinces and the corresponding E3 map provinces. I'll upload that just in case.

Well, you have the ID of a province on the vanilla map, and then after the semicolon( ; ), the ID of the province(s) that covers the same area(geographically) on the E3 map. As I said, no idea how can it be useful.

It's good that this island and several others have finally made it in the game. According to wiki "... Christmas Island was a target for Japanese occupation because of its rich phosphate deposits." Adding some rares as resources seems to be a good idea. ;)

Fine, thanks. Can you influence which colour an area/region uses? It might be worthwhile to use another colour for the Philippines.

Especially for adjusting infrastructure and climate your file will help us greatly. ;) I had already feared that we'd have to cross-check each province ... Once you have a finalized area/region map you can't see/don't know any longer which provinces ids have been moved around the world, which makes further adjustments and corrections somewhat difficult.

I believe the areacolors can not be changed. The first color is always blue, and if this area has no broder, like islands, than the next area, with no broder is blue again, so in Islandchains like Phillipines all island are blue, but there are 4 areas.

Once you have done the areas/regions we can look at them more closely and discuss which might be added or changed. A few provinces might be moved to a neighbouring area, too. Atm it's too early for polishing. ;)

For Africa it seems to be enough if today's nations have their own areas. The smaller nations, e.g. in West Africa, should be added to these or grouped together where it seems to be appropriate. Whether every member state of the USA has to be a separate area is imho questionable. I'd prefer to have there less areas if we find a better region to use these.

Ok, then let's hope that the devs allow for more colours. IIRC there was already a similar wish on the list.
 
I am impressed and awed by all this patient work, dear friends! I regret that I do not have much time to continue my E3 Map adaptation to the 1939 scenario, but here's hoping... When you guys finish all the area/region adjustments, please, please, post it up! Thank you ever so much!:)
 
Sorry for the double post (here and in E3 Mod thread), but I want to be sure that we find a proper solution.

Adapting AOD's revolt.txt to the E3 map takes longer as I have envisioned. As the major obstacle proved to be a single province (#781) in India which couldn't be given as a province to India. I was neither able to add it as minimum nor as extra. If I do add it and click as UK the Liberate Button and choose India, then I get an instant CTD while confirming this decision. I was only able to nail down #781 because I have added the indian provinces one by one to minimum/extra. This was very time-consuming and frustrating. Once I have even given this province to Pakistan - instant CTD after starting the liberation.

Does anyone know why I have this irritating problem with this special province?
 
Province 781 is Adilabad. I've a look on it, and at the first sight all seems to be right, but look at the possible ways to bordering provinces and you see, from Adilabad there leads 2 routes over River to "Adilabad". :confused:
Therefore, the route to Warangel is a normal route, but it shuold to be all so a riverroute.

You found the bug! Many thanks. :) I was so embarrassed of the long search for this bug that I never looked at this province. Luckily you have done this. The bug is indeed happening because this province is connected to itself. If you comment out this line or replace province 781 with province 729 (the missing river connection) all is fine.
I'm surprised how easy it is to modify adj_defs.csv and province.csv. While I was correcting the buggy river connection I also added the missing port in Ochotsk and the missing Kiel Canal (sic!). Both are now back in the game. Out of curiosity I have added the port of Hamburg, too. ;)

Please shorten your download. Neither the map nor the events and scenario files are atm needed. We can safely assume that anyone who is interested in your modified files has these already on his hdd. ;)

I needed only a hint where to search. After spending several hours with adding each province after another to the revolter India I couldn't see no longer the wood for the trees. ;)

Hamburg is in thanks to a helpful description which mexbuild gave here. To my surprise he hadn't noted that you have to add a port seazone, too. Since I already had identified this as the cause of the missing port of Ochotsk, it was easy to fix.

This evening I've fixed climate and terrain of europe. So it will be a long task, but day for day the work will become finished.

Great! Although now I have to redo my small fixes to province.csv because my province.csv is already outdated. ;) Can you when you have finished your planned changes this evening upload your updated province.csv, so that I can add my fixes later to it? Once done I will upload it again, so that you can continue tomorrow.
