wow then all cool here, if its only me who has problems just ignore me as i should have most of it already :D

thats actually the reason for the different naming system: i wouldnt get this myself i i couldnt read my CSVs like a book (or like a list). there are too many different people and way too many name sakes and all this. vanilla is already - well not ww2 to say the least - nevertheless i sometimes wonder how they could assemble all these things.
Yeah, I also sometimes wonder about the crazy amount of work needed to put a game like HoI together (and every other PDS title, in fact).

This, if you meant it like I got it - if, on the contrary, you meant a completely different thing (i.e. that the vanilla files are a total mess and you wonder how could they get through it - which now I think is the correct version of your thought ;) ) then I simply reply to you: I don't know :) .

...but it's so much stuff that maybe some of it skipped past you as well? ;)

surely! i have 78 pics for austria but use about 5, about 90 pics for india and use zero (just because both are kind of pointless, at least the latter)

there's no way i could have expressed this one better. both is true, very true. vanilla files are a real mess but at the same time no other game i'm aware of has achieved this. there is a hill of bullshit in this game - but on the other side a lot of very surprising things. even rather serious websites like generals.dk do not have all of the HoI goodies (well now they have, since i sended some 600 pics ;) - just has to uploaded over there).

I'm fine with putting all the stuff together and getting it to work.
btw I just noticed how all the redundant b/w pics are still there in the gfx folder. Could have saved some ~90mb if I deleted those. Oh well.
Anyway guys tell me if the file I provided works flawlessly or if there are any bugs or db mismatches (I only checked for the major countries)

oh and regarding your problem rwglaub: I've only made it work for 1.08. I'm not gonna work on 1.09 while the patch is still being worked on and changed around.

Adolphin, i can try to replace the ROMs and JAPs little by little. both have no sleepleader events so this should be very easy to do. just takes some time. so to save you saome time stay with the double stuff until its done. it can be a pain to check all files for certain pics. thanks for your hard work.

If you folks could come up with a way to make this a simple process it would be wonderful...
thanks to Adolphin there is some progress, maybe try to download his package from the OP and give feedback if it works all fine. this would be a lot of help.

BTW:
there are a lot of pics missing in AoD, esp ENG ministers from the 50s and later. i think somebody took the CSV of Arma 1.03 but not the pics. i have done quite a few of these missing minister pics in v.35 and will do more if there are reports.

Being on the receiving end for East vs West I can only agree. :)

its strange that it works because the relevant events were left out? (Anschluss, Vichy, etc). otherwise when itsworking and you guys have fun i'm ok.
NOTE: it should be played with leader death dates on until at least 1941 or 1943 (personally i play with this option until 1947 or sometimes even 1950). then save and quit - turn this option off, and reload. this works very cool in AoD and a lot of people are only in this package because of this option (generals who retired in 1937, for example).
i modded a hill of enddates. basically the officer retires in an age from 60 to 65, while in vanilla they have sometimes death dates when somebody became POW - i ignored this as i think such things happen ingame.

oh - and you do not need to copy the whole game, lol - will save you some time

i made a basic package based on Pangs latest changes (except db leaders/ministers as those aren't that good to keep it civil)
its the basic structure of the whole thing including the three very difficult events (German Anschluss/Soviet Purges/French Vichy)

http://www.filefactory.com/file/602gno4q4q55/n/AoD.rar

most gfx are left out as they come already with colour pictures v35 (+ ROM improved, + JAP improved)
some new interface gfx added and some event pics and some tech pics.

extract to desktop first and use on your own account (untested). - please report strange things as this is the only way i can improve this.

Are the Germans depicted there possibly Brandenburger or "simple" infantry?

Also: aren't the US Marines in the bottom pic a bit too late, maybe? I don't remember exactly if AoD has a Marine model up to the 60ies (in that case forget what I've written ;) ).

Very cool pictures, by the way.

maybe inf or even engineers. no idea. just found it on my HD.

the US Marines are from vietnam, so yes they are too modern, actually. its the last image though. i'll keep an open eye for Korean war marines.

maybe some images of the battle of the chosin reservoir are out there http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Chosin_Reservoir
i have their commander, Oliver P. Smith http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oliver_Prince_Smith most adorable for this quote:

"Retreat, hell! We're not retreating, we're just advancing in a different direction."

I think I have that in a hardcopy somewhere and I think they're combat engineers. Given the improbability of finding actual pics of German marines, though, I think they pass muster nicely. I do have a hardcopy of German Naval Infantry on exercises, but they're wearing the field grey uniform and are indistinguishable from regular infantry.

well, usually they had some darker clothes, i think, like here
the Admirals had a similar uniform like the heer generals, just the collar tabs are blue insted of red http://www.themarshalsbaton.com/Navy Admiral Insignia_files/image013.jpg
(i have one in UKR, Konteradmiral Otto Schulz with blue collar tabs)

ok made a new US marine pic, this time from the korean war, source

since "modern marine division" has a date of 1951, this should be ok

Probably just engineers as Epa said. Oh well.

Yeah, those depicted Marines are from Vietnam - finding ones from the Korean war doesn't seem to be a very easy task, though (at least judging from a Google search I did some minutes ago). EDIT: posted this without seeing you had already found a good one for them :D

Ha ha! Great quote...
