Sorry, deleted my former post as, with hindsight, I thought it might have been seen as offensive by someone. Thanks for the explanation, btw ;) .

I'll be repetitive but (since I believe that melius abundare quam deficiere): really great work, best.

I've just been installing V.30, major, and noted that several of your improved German TT images don't overwrite into the AoD techs file. I've taken the liberty of copying them and renaming the copies so that they now do. In case that might be useful to you I've uploaded the augmented GER_TTS folder here: http://depositfiles.com/files/795ijld54

I've included in the load some company logos that I unearthed a little while back and use in place of 'factory' shots (e.g. for Messerschmitt). Knowing your commitment to historicity I've only included those that are of appropriate vintage. My favourite is the black and gold Messerscmitt logo taken off an RLS factory helmet.

thanks, Epaminondas. well yes my tech teams are often only ideas and even i only use some of them. for instance the vanilla tech tree has no paratrooper generals or mountaineer generals while IIRC CORE has and DH as well.

so for SOV i thought first of Colonel Ilya Starinov, as somebody in the DH forum had him

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ilya_Starinov
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Старинов,_Илья_Григорьевич

(he was sometimes labeled as "God of Sabotage" in russian forums) and before ComBrig Mikhail Svetshnikov http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Свечников,_Михаил_Степанович (forgot to add him in the purges). - both are seen as founding fathers of Spetsnaz.

when doing more research i thought that Vasily Glazunov
http://generals.dk/general/Glazunov/Vasilii_Afanasevich/Soviet_Union.html
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Глазунов,_Василий_Афанасьевич

and later Vasily Margelov
http://generals.dk/general/Margelov/Vasilii_Filippovich/Soviet_Union.html
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Маргелов,_Василий_Филиппович

would be the better choices for soviet airborne troops TTs. however i have coded none of them :).

as for management i noticed that SOV definately lacks that and i had no better idea than adding the big Kaganovich with management only and skill 6 (probably to much).

and well to cut a long story short this (the TTs) will probably never be a drop-in thing like the leaders. i'll use your images though, much appreciated! and i hope you'll have a good time with the SOVs no matter on which side. that was really a terrible fox hunting. all i can say that vanilla SOV isnt the soviet union. they didnt even come close to it.

EDIT: and i forgot: TT_GER_Deutscher_Luftsportverband.bmp was made for you guys who like the 33 scenario!

oh, damn i give up. lol i add more than 300 soviets including new TTs and all that and you cheer about a single prewar TT for GER - wtf?! you guys are all lost in germany me thinks :D. anyway i'm trying to build GER up to the 60s so that you can play it with death date on in AoD.

see it this way: an improved SOV will also make the game better for the german player. i'm player GER myself most of the time and was mad at fighting faked leaders. if its painted, its real now.

as for the logos, i'm pretty sure i have the BMW and Daimler logo correct?

Absolutely. That's why you caught me installing v.30 - because every addition you make adds to the 'authenticity' of the of my experiemce in front of the screen.

As to the logos, I forwarded them mainly for your interest. I think you have the BMW rendering just right with the 1936 version of their logo, but the DB form you use looks like their 1926 version and was apparently replaced in 1933. Just between you and me, I use the one that you do because I think it captures the overall feeling of the era better - like so much else at DB the 1933 logo seems ahead of its time.

ok. btw the german additions are not over, just felt i clean up the soviet union before. a few additions to make GER playable until the 60s with death date on:

Hax;1101044;GER;1945;1990;1990;1990;3;5;128;2;0;5;0;Hax_Heinrich-Georg1_colour_ger;1945;1964;x #

von Hobe;1101048;GER;1951;1960;1990;1990;2;5;0;2;0;5;0;Hobe_Cord_von1_colour_ger;1951;1971;x # Bundeswehr/rtd 68/Wehrmacht Colonel/KC holder

Kretschmer is coded a bit very conservative, as i dont like to translate his skills as an ace directly to him as an admiral. still he and Guggenberger are some cool cold war admirals.

there are a few people in who are counterfactual, ie what if ww2 is not over in may 45, for example Oberst Werner Baumbach and some others for GER.
these people have to match some conditions to be in:

- rank of Oberst / Standartenführer / Kapitän zur See in 1945
- not being in allied / soviet captivity in 1945
- not passing away of natural cause before 1955
- OR receiving a promotion to flag rank in west germany (eg Otto Kretschmer as Flottillenadmiral)

an example is Oberst Hans von Schlebrügge http://www.ritterkreuztraeger-1939-45.de/Infanterie/S/Schlebruegge-Hans-von.htm or Oberst Ludwig Hörl http://www.das-ritterkreuz.de/bilder/hoerl.jpg

critical comments and suggestions are welcome

I think this is a really useful 'expansion' major, and your selection criteria seem well founded.

Finding appropriate measures to sift prospective candidates in or out of the mix is a lot trickier than it might first appear. In putting together my own comprehensive (more or less) German leader csv I decided to let the game create leader casualties rather than simply taking historical death dates as givens, and it opened up some very slippery problems. I think the elements you're using are sufficiently specific and empirically based to avoid most of those.

Amazing work as usual, best! You keep churning out top notch pictures just like they did back in the day with B-24s at Willow Run...

But, wait... hey, the 2nd one from left in the 6th row - he seems somewhat familiar to me ;)

Are these up in your first post, major, or is your preview just a taste of things to come? As Mr T says, you're right on form and I'm dying to identify some of the faces you've included here.

well and v 31 is out, a bit here and there - a smaller one.

note germany is entering the post war :)

download link at 1st post this thread like always

Thanks major, That was an awful lot of trouble for you to go to and I greatly appeciate it.

yes, thanks. btw if you're using GER you should at least take SOV as well. they're a bit better now.

as for playing - just in case you want to stay on the save side - play with death dates on until sth like 1949, save and reload with death dates disabled. i think GER can be played beyond 1960, just the rest of the world is slowly dying :D.

NiL_FisK|Urd: maybe try again or use another browser, i cant do much right now, sorry.

To tell the truth, I install everything you produce just for the sake of having your work. Given my strategic orientation I don't imagine I'll ever play a game lasting beyond 1946, but if I didn't install the new stuff I'd somehow feel that I'd 'missed out'.
