Sorry Pdox staff for clogging your thread with unrelated things.

JRHINDO...Your remark is just plain funny! I'm sure that you are right and some of what was on display in Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 was really good, but I traded in my collection of Best Way games (Soldiers, Faces of War and Men of War) after spending fifteen fairly unhappy hours in the company of Soldiers. Much could be said on that subject but I was interested to note that the FAQ for Soldiers hosted on Gamefaqs was missing critical bits of information. I remember trying (just for fun) the first of the English missions in Soldiers and noted that a timer was displayed. The in-game objectives did not make it clear what would "kill" the timer, so I turned to the FAQ. That also had no reference to what stopped the mission timer, so I knew something was up. I also remember the third of the Russian missions. In that, to complete the mission, you had to get two of your people back to the train, after meeting up with a contact. Well, when the mission failed to end after I did that, once again I suspected things were not as they should be. As it happened, the mission ended after you got the train moving, but that was not clear in the objectives.
I have never played Soldiers only Faces of War and Men of War, but indeed there are some objective problems and some other bugs. MoW was very clean and without any problems from release. Faces of War had some serious bugs in a couple of mission but that was fixed by patches. I put trust into 1C company's abilities, they made crap games in the past but gave very good quality recently.
Finally, how is it that a German medium tank can take over ten hits with AP shells and not blow up...answers on a postcard, please! [Ed. One grenade hit from behind usually does the job... Really!]
lol that happens alot in the unmodded versions of Soldiers and Faces of War, it was partially fixed in MoW. The games are very fun by themselves (up to a point where some things get annoying) but they are SUPER SUPER BETTER with mods and there are many mods that give more realism and add more content. Its a shame that you traded Men of War because there are a lot of custom scenarios and new campaigns made by modders.
In conclusion, I may well pick Men of War up again if I see it for sale, perhaps to see if it is much, much better than Soldiers. I'm guessing that it will be frustrating, but as long as that makes sense then I might stick with it. Thanks for the tip.
If you see it, BUY IT!!
For a great read...Check out the review of Soldiers: Heroes of WW2 on Gamefaqs by asherdeus...It's a hoot!
lolz i will check it out.
BTW, JRHINDO...I notice there are no reviews for Men of War on Gamefaqs at all. What is going on?
No idea whats up with that. MoW is pretty old. Maybe check other game sites like gamespot.

JRHINDO...Yes, I apologise for posting thoughts away from the main topic. Having said that, thank you for replying and for your observations. I will now "get out of the way" so that we can get back on topic again!

This should be funny...Anyone remember an article in the PC Zone magazine (just before it died) which featured the visit of a Zoner member of staff to the Paradox Interactive offices in Sweden? I might have the location wrong, so please forgive me if I do. Anyway, besides reporting on the games being worked on at the time, the focus was on Plopp chocolate bars that can be bought there! That's the funny bit (only works for British humour, I think!) So... What is this (not so) well known chocolate like?

You got the location and the chocolate right!

It's delicious. It's almost exactly like "Center" (another swedish chocolate) but a bit sweeter ;)

artfox...So, in Sweden, it's Plopp and Center, eh! In the States it's Hershey bars and here in the UK it's Mars bars and Kit-kats. Sweeter, you say... I'm guessing the girls in Sweden are sweeter too...

Have some of the employees on Paradox Interactive "started" their holiday? :)

Yes (not me).

How is the platypus?

Hiding out in the server room. It is HOT in there.

This is just a hopeful question..

Are there any plans for a Clausewitz game that takes place either in Alexander's time or in the future? (like, 2200 future.)

No current plans, sorry! That does not mean that there won't be any, ever, but right now we are busy making other games.

Comrade Chaos...Yep, the Daim bar looks good. Living in the city of Cadbury, Birmingham, home of Bournville, I'm bound to say that Cadbury creme eggs are the best. But there's always competition for second place, eh!

I should have understood to ask this earlier but better late than not at all (Though I have a feeling that Enewald could have asked this)

Is here any hardcore hockey fans and how does it feel like to lose ice hockey world championship to your eastern neighbour? :D Was it as big shock as it seemed to be (according to press) or just a minor disappointment?

I personally didn't really care, but that's because it was teh world championship; which for me isn't worth that much. Olympic gold however is something to brag about :)

Was there a major hockey event recently?

Was there a major hockey event recently?

Ice hockey world cup, final between Sweden and Finland and Finland took trophy home with 6 - 1 victory :D It was here (unfortunately) so big thing again (last and first world cup victory 15 years ago, against Sweden that time too) that people are still talking about it and I'm eventually getting fed up with everything related to ice hockey but had to ask if some of you went as mad as half sweden seemed to go

I wasn't really asking because I wanted to know, you know. More to mark my complete disinterest.
Sports, I don't get it. To do some kind of sports myself might be fun, but to watch: BORING.

I didn't even watch the SCII competition is Sweden recently, but at least I know it exists.

How long did it take for Fredrik's hair to grow back? Did an baldness show up under once it was shaved?

Finally a question worthy of this thread!
Maybe he should answer.
