The New World
The last quarter of the 15th century proved to be a fruitfull one if you happened to be a spanish ruler. The godgiven quest of uniting the Iberian Peninsula was comming to an end as the rulers of aragon, navarra and portugal all bowed before the spanish throne.
With the homeland secured theere was many a noble who longed to seek out new worlds to conquer. And so, a fleet was commissioned, a fleet grander than had ever been seen before. A special new type of ship developed by the spanish naval engineers was used. This ship, while useless for battle, was able to carry large amount of soldiers and provisions while still beeing able to keep up with the quickest of battleships. An experienced and gutsy navalcaptain by the name of Cristóbal Colón was given command of this fleet in it's task of seeking out a world beyond the west horizon.
Many moons later they sat eyes on a new found shore. The land proved inhabitated, but the spanish settlers saw that the land was rich and that it should belong to the godloving Spanish empire. The natives proved no match for the skilled spanish soldiers and soon a large area of land was controlled, and was soon flooding the homeland with riches previously unimaginable.
Peace was the way for the homeland during this time, with both the spanish and any potential foes busy with other undertakings. Due to the calm, the massive spanish defence fleet of galleys stood unused. It was decided that another quest for new lands was viable, and soon the fleet was ready. The uninhabited cost of africa was of no intrest to the settlers, and for years they pushed on along the coast. Finally there was a shift in cenery, and the eastern shores of India was reached. A quick visit was made to the harbour city of Goa. While the inhabitants of Goa did not speak the Godly language that is Spanish, they did speak the universal language of gold, and so trade routes where established.
While pushing on through uncharted waters the fleet soon found themselves without shore in sight. Able as they are in shallower waters, the Galleys of the expedition could not handle the conditions further out, and substantial losses was suffered. Now they had to find some place to walk ashore. The admiral made the decition that Goa was to be commandeered for the benefit of the spanish empire, and upon striking the Indians were not able to hold the mighty spanish back.
New worlds are beeing discovered by the brave explorers of spain every year, and the future shines upon the Spanish Monarch and the Empire he rules.
