Well, the Muslims are powerful in India.
They usually are in this period. By the way, in August 1242 Basileus Megistos was not facing ANY factions. I do not know if he ate them or not. But he is a different breed than his father. Thank you for commenting.

Thank You @Bullfilter and @JSB217118 for commenting.

London January 1225

Welcome! As the Queen is meeting with Lord Nap, everyone except for @Bullfilter and @JSB217118 has a free morning to shop and take photos. Banker Lloyd will gladly assist you in exchanging your gold and silver for proper English pounds. @Bullfilter and @JSB217118, you have meetings at Secret Service Headquarters. @Bullfilter, Professor Q wishes to discuss the performance of the speedboats, and then you and Anne Howe will meet with Miss Moneypenny to discuss damage and mileage fees. @JSB217118, I am glad to see that your wrist and ankle bruises have faded. Director M wishes to discuss your recent 'interview' with the Iraqi Secret Police and possibly have you courier some documents to Rome. Dewey Cheatem will accompany you and provide legal insights. I hope everyone enjoyed lunch. With the Queen in an urgent consultation with Lord Nap, Sir Jibber Jabber will provide the afternoon briefing.

Despite a lost of 16, the Kingdom of England and Ireland continues to be #2 with 238 holdings in England, Ireland and western France. Middlesex is our fourth consecutive plains waterfront capital.

3 July 1214 48yo King John 'the Wicked' of England, Aquitaine, and Ireland dies bedridden and infirm. His 15yo son Hugh Plantagenet inherits the tri Kingdom.
20 April 1220 21yo King Hugh dies lying comatose in his bed. His 26yo sister Adela Plantagenet inherits the dual Kingdoms of England and Ireland with the Kingdom of Aquitaine passing to their 24yo sister Hawise Plantagenet. (Dewey Cheatem, what happened to primogeniture?)
The 30yo English Catholic Queen Adela has been educated (or not), like her father, to be an indulgent wastrel. Even though she focuses on business, her slothful nature reveals several deficiencies in her resume (6-2-3-0-1). She currently controls two duchies and two counties as well as the two kingdoms. Her advisors tell her that could manage two more holdings. Thirteen dukes, eight counts and six barons pledge allegiance to Queen Adela. Her eleven thousand man army is currently engaged in preventing two northern France land grabs.

Dewey Cheatem has procured centuries old documents (some with ink still wet) that declare Duke Baldeon of Upper Brittany to be the owner of Mortain County. King Rivallon of Breizh has declared war to force Queen Adela to pass Mortain to his brother Duke Baldeon. Anne Howe is judging King Rivallon to have a seventy-nine point lead.
Judge Blackstone found that King Henri III of France is the rightful owner of Dunois County. King Henri III has declared on Queen Adela to compel her to comply with the judgment. Anne Howe's careful calculations give a seven point advantage to King Henri.
I am sorry that our keynote speaker has flown to Hollywood to negotiate turning his Plantagenet family history into a blockbuster movie. But @Bullfilter's guest, Miss Emma Peel, will speak on the role of women in Her Majesty's Secret Service. @Eurasia was heard mumbling about Hollywood divas and his local access cable documentary with clay figures. In a corner, Lord Meow-Meow was overheard talking to Bollywood about starring in a mega-blockbuster "Tomcat and the Terrific Tigers of Tamil Forest".

The only James Bond movie with an Australian lead is 1969's 'On Her Magesty's Secret Service'. M, Q and Miss Moneypenny are from the James Bond movies.
Emma Peel was brought to life by Dame Diana Rigg between 1965-1968 in television's 'The Avengers'. Emma was the prototype for later female action leads and quite possibly the hottest woman on late 60s television. Dame Diana married James Bond in 'On Her Magesty's Secret Service' and for four years she was Olenna Tyrell in 'Game of Thrones'.
Everyone, thank you for reading and we will now journey to the continent and meet our repeat #1 the Holy (not) Roman (not) Empire (YES).

If you desire a megacampaign, @Kazanov has three volumes spanning a Phoenician colony in Iberia (EU4), an exile to the Yucatan (CK2) and a return to the Old World (CK2) before we hit the year 800. The next volume should be in CK3.
 a free add
with @Kazanov captaining the other
I hope to not block any canal/river/stream with my boat :p

Very helpful :)
then you and Anne Howe will meet with Miss Moneypenny to discuss damage and mileage fees
Some underling can worry about such things. I’m off for a couple of martinis. :p
20 April 1220 21yo King Hugh dies lying comatose in his bed.
That was a pretty short and sad run as king.

It’s not an education so much as a calling. :D

I think I would be her guest. She was a sensation in her day.

An Avengers related personal anecdote: The original Avengers starred Patrick Macnee as the hero, Steed. He once came over to our place in Sydney for dinner at the height of the show’s popularity in Australia (where it was very big). A friend of my parents was in an entertainment management agency that would look after visiting actors and musicians and thought he’d like a quiet home dinner one night during his visit. He was much taller in person (six foot plus, I think) than he looked on the screen. Very charming, I dimly recall.

@HistoryDude, thank you for the comment. I think that England's place in the top five is safe unless . . . they do something stupid and England's ability to be STUPID can not even be calculated by Anne Howe's cadre of highly trained bean counters. England can even trade continental holdings for completing domination over the Isles. Scotland, much of Wales and a few independent Irish counties are not paying homage to London. France is between England's French holdings and the HRE. Succession could be tricky as we are layering general English silliness with Plantagenet silliness.

The free ad is richly deserved for the years of entertainment that you have provided to me. Do not worry, as your boat is safely docked in the River Thames with even less damage than @Bullfilter's. With Phoenician beginnings and two Atlantic crossings, your seamanship even surpasses that of a Viking.

Who is Adela married to?
@JSB217118, thank you for replying. You have given me an assignment when I return to the game. I presume that you are more concerned with the succession than hubby. If I recall correctly, she has four children by three men. First is an illegitimate son that is ineligible for the crown. A daughter of family Estrid that by 1242 marries into the Rurikid dynasty and has given Queen Adela a Rurikid grandchild (@Bullfilter is salivating over the English crown). Lastly a matrilineal marriage that has produced two Plantagenet sons. The reason for my familiarity is that the RNG gods blessed me. When I visited the three sisters upon my eldest daughter finishing her education, the top name on the list was Queen Adela's youngest son. This union has produced a Plantagenet infant girl that ranks in front of the Rurikid child. More info to follow.

'Your' twins with Countess Agalina are great. (They were born less than a week before the nine months anniversary of your briefing.) Lule is a 51 point elusive shadow betrothed to the King of Bulgaria. Pëllumb is a 46 point charismatic negotiator Count of Avlonas and heir to the duchy.

This contains information through July 1242.

@Bullfilter, thank you for everything. Without your encouragement, I would not be commenting much less attempting an AAR. I would not worry about any bills with Anne's help, they will probably pay you. King Henry II died in his sleep at age 54 after reigning 33 years. Since then in 37 years, England has lost three kings with none seeing a 50th birthday. King Richard to poison, King John brain damaged by a stroke, and King Hugh brain damaged on a battlefield in a forgotten war. SPOILER ALERT: The next seventeen years will not see England becoming any kinder to Plantagenet rulers.

Every action heroine of the last fifty years owes a debt to Honor Blackman, Diana Rigg and the makers of 'the Avengers'. We lost both of the Avengers/Bond ladies in 2020.

Great Macnee story!

The Plantagenets seem to have lost favour with God! Is there any instability in England or have the kings been managing to keep things together?
Welcome @Fool Esquire, I have not seen any internal revolts. The Plantagenets are having a rough patch but not as bad as the Ayyubids losing four leaders in a row by nefarious means. The Plantagenets are living on a razor's edge simply because of dynasty size. While the Rurikids number hundreds, the Plantagenets are fewer than twenty. The Christian limit of one wife and no concubine makes every member crucial. The loss of an only son childless at 21 may prove devastating.

London January 1225 Guide: Visar Progonovic, Dyrrachion Magistros for his brother, Count Gjin of Dyrrachion

Visar: @Fool Esquire, thank you for express shipping the 'Kojak Memories' to my brother Gjin. Gjin reports that his 2yo daughter Teuta is carrying a photo of Westminister Castle (Middlesex county seat). She shows the photo to everyone and yells 'MINE'. Due to the fog and rain, our departure for the unHoly unRoman Empire is delayed until tomorrow. After a discussion on how to obtain more information about the Plantagenets, Mr. Peabody transported @HistoryDude and myself to 1 August 1242. Time Travelers, while you can go to any date in the past with the wayback machine, I can only go to future dates that I will be alive. I now know that I will see August 1242, but death lurks beyond that day.

1 August 1242

Visar: Gjin is now Doux of Dyrrachion. Our parents would be so proud. Dimitrije and Aleksander still live, but our baby brother, Zamyr has perished.
@HistoryDude: Congrats on your election to mayor.

House Progonovic, 14 living members, was founded by Count Progon of Dyrrachion born 1 January 1160.
House Plantagenet, 6 living members, was founded by Duke Geoffroy of Normandy (grandson of the Iron Duke) born 24 August 1113.
House Rurikid, 252 living members (is Rurikid the Russian word for rabbit?), was founded by Jarl Rurik of Novgorod born 1 January 830.
House Karling is like the woolly mammoth . . . EXTINCT! (Sorry @LPDK 356)
Kingdom of Aquitaine timeline:

4 May 1198 Kingdom of Aquitaine was created by King Richard 'the Lion-Hearted'.
20 April 1220 24yo Hawise Plantagenet inherits the throne.
26 April 1230 34yo Queen Hawise is forced to allow elective succession and abdicate the throne in favor of her 7yo son William de Warenne. Queen Mother Hawise is the current heir of Aquitaine and #5 for England.
Current Wars of 19yo King William:
Duke Dodon of Gascogne is revolting to seize the throne. Anne Howe has Duke Dodon by 64 points.
Count Julian of Foix from the Kingdom of Aragon is trying to claim the county of Toulouse. Count Julian by 25 points.
17yo King Fulk of England is trying to seize the throne from his 19yo cousin. King Fulk by 40 points.
Marriages and Children of Queen Adela of England and Ireland:

Marriage with Ubbe Estrid, eldest son of King Knud VI of Denmark, who dies 5 September 1217 age 27.
17 August 1213 their daughter Gunhild Estrid (#2 heir) is born. She is currently married to Iziaslav Rurikid, Count of Roskavl in the Grand Principality of Smolensk. They have two daughters (#3 and #4 heirs).
17 October 1218 Adela Plantagenet and Valdemar Estrid (Ubbe's cousin and current King Valdemar II of Denmark) have an illegitimate son Richard Estrid. Richard is currently an English General.
Matrilineal marriage with Bernhard von Badewide who dies 1 February 1230 age 40.
17 July 1221 their son John Plantagenet is born.
17 August 1224 their son Fulk Plantagenet is born. He is currently married to Teuta Progonovic with their daughter Aveline Plantagenet (#1 heir) born 4 September 1241.
Marriage with Konrad Wettin who currently lives in England at age 59.
Kingdom of England and Ireland timeline:

20 April 1220 Adela Plantagenet inherits the throne of the dual kingdoms.
26 May1230 36yo Queen Adela dies suspiciously (calling Scotland Yard). Her 8yo son John inherits the dual kingdoms.
17 February 1233 11yo King John II dies mysteriously (Sherlock Holmes, where art thou?). His 8yo brother Fulk inherits the dual kingdoms.
17yo King Fulk (@JabberJock14, are you programming for CK2?) rules England and Ireland. His only war is with his 19yo cousin King William to be King of Aquitaine. King Fulk is probably the only living Plantagenet male. (I could only determine 5 of the 6 living Plantagenets).
'Kojak memory' is a reference to the 1973-8 television drama 'Kojak' and the Kodak moments ad campaign. Telly Savalas who portrayed Kojak was also the villain in 'On Her Majesty's Secret Service'.

Anyone looking for a new area of CK2 land to explore, @Fool Esquire takes us to Africa in 'Songhay, the Star of the Sub-Saharan'. Those who wish to meet the Karlings before they became woolly mammoths, should check out @LPDK 356's history, 'Song of the Karlings: Karloman's Legacy'. These two are recent additions and one can quickly become current. For the prehistory of the Plantagenets, please visit 'Before Plantagenet - A House d'Anjou' by @JabberJock14. While it will celebrate its fourth birthday in April and is the size of a James Michener historical novel, the quality of writing deserves to be sold in a classy book store not found for free on an AAR forum.

I hope that this answers everyone's Plantagenet/England questions. Everyone, thank you for reading. Hopefully the weather will soon clear and we can be off to our 1225 #1, the unHoly unRoman realEmpire.
