With the release of 1.03, I now support starting over.
Agreed. For example my "country cousin -strategy" of 1.02 is no longer valid at all  And we should make new characters *if* we are going for edited characters. *And* we should drop the difficulty to Normal (as Peter suggests in another thread).

I figure what better opportunity to test out our new toys in 1.03 than our regular MP session Saturday Night (US)/Sunday Morning (Finland)? (As an aside, I think it's kind of amusing that the foursome that has emerged is two Midwestern Yankees and two Finns.)
Of course it has to be with 1.03 :)

Yes, it is indeed a bit hilarious that the four players are so separate but from two spots from each other. Byak lives under 100 km from me, but I've never met him :) Altough we have to remember one brasilian and two swedes have also been interested to take part, but for various reasons that failed.

I think we should just make a go of an established scenario w/o modded characters, but we can use the same character rules if y'all want. As for where we play, I have two ideas
I can live fine with either established characters or modded ones. Altough in fact the time may be too short to get modded characters ready in time, so I suggest we go with unmodded chracters.

I'd like to see our new game in Ireland. Never played as an Irish ruler, so it would be fun in that sense too, not to mention the fact that we'd be "forced" for a stronger RPG :)

Well, I do have one request about characters, besides that they should be modded (we could do it really quickly if we meet in Vnet at 0430 GMT): I want a Polish character :D . This would be even better in Germany. While I would like to play in Poland, as I think it's a great spot for pagan-bashing, if all others are against it, I won't press for it anymore.

Well, there in itself is the problem IMO. I am not looking for a pagan-bashing game in multiplay. I think pagan-bashing is for single-play only, altough it might be at some point valid in a MP.

Agreed.

I'm looking for a game where people spend more time trying to cheat others out of their birthright and bicker about the morality of particular set of inheritance laws (** At this point, Patrucio tips his hat towards Byakhiam ;) **) rather than race to conquor their pagan/muslim neighbors. That, I feel, is reflected in the rather harsh anti-Crusading rules we have popularly enacted. I certainly feel that Crusading and pagan-bashing has a place in whatever game we play (after all, I don't want to play oddly enlightened individuals, but rather wish to adopt the attitudes and prejudices I think were common in the era), but I think it should also take a subordinate, secondary place to the goal of a good role-playing session.

That said, I'm for TRYING to get unique characters, but I don't want to stress out about it. We should try to build a character for Germany/Ireland using Jarkko's PC creation rules. If Sterk wants to be Polish, I don't think it implausible that a Polish noble could inherit a German (or Irish, for that matter) county. If we are able to get modded files made and distributed before our game time, then we should go with it. If not, then we shoudl go unmodded.

As for the Diffiuclty/Aggression levels, I would be fine with putting them both to normal for now. I would rather keep the difficulty level higher, but I can see the wisdom in setting it back, at least until we get a good grasp of how the AI and such has changed.

On an unrelated note, I have updated the house rules document to reflect our vassalization request rules (ie- you may only request vassalization from an NPC once per year per NPC.)

Well, pagan-bashing creates quite an interesting backdrop however, as you used many times in your AARs, by calling Boleslaw a coward because he did not attack the infidels, and using that as an excuse to rebel. Also, when the Mongols come, this presents a great opportunity for uniting against a single threat, and bringing it down. I still wish for a Poland-centered game, perhaps as a secondary game to this one?

Well, *actually* the thing went like this:

-Boleslaw *is* coward (he has the trait)
-I get slander event against Boleslaw, have to come up with an excuse (well, he is a coward, thus "not even guts to attack crappy pagans")
-I get plot event against Boleslaw, have to come up with an excuse (coward, I am zealot -> "pagan-lover")

At this point loyalty is about 90, but begin to rise again. Then Boleslaw dies, his son takes over and *all* vassal's loyalties are rapidly dropping (Silesia having the worst loyalty (around 49 IIRC), Wielpolska the best (about 60 IIRC), "my" Mazovia in between those two. This is explained in my AAR as the fault of the advisors of "young king".

So I did not rebel against Boleslaw, and the loyalty falling is fault of the Young King :)

For the same reason I claimed Western Islands (which I never have *any* chance to get, so the prestige put there is total waste), but an excommunication is something a zealot *have to* react on.

To me CK MP is a RPG with a strong combat flavour :)

Well, that's why I want to try CK MP, tomorrow.
