One line summary of your issue
Cannot load saves and cannot start either campaign or career

What platform are you running the game on?

Steam

What operating system do you use?
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
Which version of the game are you running?
1.9
What DLC do you have installed?
Flashpoint,
Urban Warfare,
Shadowhawk Pack,
Heavy Metal

Please explain your issue is in as much detail as possible.
Loading any save just ends with an unending loading screen. Starting any career or campaign does not work because after character creation I cannot save any game because the button is blanked out. If I leave the game after any time (waited nearly 1 hr once) the message tells me that I will loose any unsaved progress and afterwards there is no savegame to load...going Ironman there is a savegame...but that one ends in an unending loading screen again. In the end I can neither use older saves nor start from scratch. Verifying files, reinstalling and switching drives did not do any good. Reverting to 1.8.1 is the only solution to all problems above atm.
Have you tried verifying your files?
Yes

Steps to reproduce the issue
Problem above happens every time I give it a try.

Attach DxDiag (PC), System Info log (Mac), or run sudo lshw -html > specs.html and uploaded specs.html (Linux)

Attach Output Log
Windows: \Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH\output_log.txt
Mac OS: Users >{name} > Library > Logs > Unity > Player.log
Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Harebrained Schemes/BATTLETECH/Player.log

If the game crashed, please attach the crash file with the time stamp closest to the crash.
Windows: [Steam library folder]\steamapps\common\BATTLETECH\DumpBox
For v.17 and beyond try here: C:\Users\[YourUserName]\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BATTLETECH
OSX: Macintosh HD > Users > [username] > Library > Application Support > Steam > steamapps > common > BattleTech > DumpBox
Linux: [Steam library folder]/steamapps/common/BATTLETECH/DumpBox

If a save game was loaded at the start of the game session, upload it. Please make sure to upload the save game with the timestamp closest to when you loaded it.
Windows:
Steam: [Steam installation folder]\userdata[SteamID]\637090\remote\C0\SGS1
GOG: 'C:\Users\USER_ID\AppData\Local\GOG.com\Galaxy\Applications\50593543263669699\Storage\Shared\Files\C#\SGS#'
Vanilla:'C:\Users\USER_ID\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\BattleTech\C#\SGS#'
OSX:
Steam: Macintosh HD > Users > [username] > Library > Application Support > Steam > userdata > [SteamID] > 637090 > remote > C#> SGS#
GOG: Macintosh HD > Users > [username] > Library > Application Support > GOG.com > Galaxy > Applications > 50593543263669699 > Storage > Shared > Files > C# > SGS#
Vanilla: Macintosh HD > Users > [username]> Library > Application Support > unity.Harebrained Schemes.BattleTech > C# > SGG#
Linux:
Steam: /home/.steam/steam/userdata/[steamID]/637090/remote/C#/SGS#
GOG: /home/[username]/.config/unity3d/Harebrained Schemes/BATTLETECH/remote/C#/SGS#/

What antivirus app do you use? It may be unhappy with the new Battletech.exe in 1.9 , so add it to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.

Note that games started under 1.8.1 should be completed under it, IMO.

Did already try that too. Even without antivirus app and no firewall the same problems - reverting to 1.8.1 solves the problems with my old saves, but I really wanted to play 1.9 and as I already wrote in the first post I cannot start either campaign nor career because the game does not save at all or in case of ironman gives me no access to the saves just an unending loading screen.

As I say, AV apps are known to cause this. Which one do you use? Some need extra steps.

It's not my AV, I did read your other reply and added the BT folders to the exclude list. I even rebooted my PC after that as well.

I was able to create a new campaign, even before my AV change, so not as "stuck" as Xusnar. Maybe I'll break down and actually try the BEX mod since I have to start over anyway. :)

1.9.1 does not work for me either. No problems with 1.8.1 as with every update before but now with 1.9.0 and 1.9.1 no luck at all. Impossible to load older saves and impossible to start new campaigns or careers - so it seems the new mechs won´t see my mechbay in the near future.

Let's try a **clean** reinstall:

- Remove the game from Steam (uninstall)
- Manually delete all these files and folders, if still there:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BattleTech\
C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\LocalLow\Harebrained Schemes\
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\USER_ID\637090\
(first move the \remote\C#\SGS#\ folder elsewhere to keep your save games)

- Install the game again
- add steam.exe and BattleTech.exe to the Whitelist of your antivirus app, whatever it is

If you still get any problem, please send a new dxdiag.txt and output_log.txt , thank you.

After several reinstallations including more than three complete wipes even destroying my kerensky save (not iron man and including a busted mini campaign that never came to an end because I waited to long between missions and it never popped up again - so no Bull Shark for me) the game is now running smoothly for about three hours without any problems concerning saving and loading - hopefully it will stay that way. Now working on the mini campaign again :).

Finally gave up and reverted to 1.8.1. As I have only a limited amount of spare time I rather play the few hours I can spent than trying in vain to get 1.9.x running.

It all boils down to the problem of the game being unable to either load or save a game, I did all the suggested things including a complete wipe and reinstallation and got the game running for approximately 1 day. I never encountered any problem like a CTD just having the problem of being unable to load or save any game in either campaign or career.
With 1.8.1 and all the updates before including the Beta I never encountered any problem at all.

1.9.x only allows me to do a skirmish or start a campaign or career and do a few missions without the possibility to save. Loading an older savegame is still not working. So I will wait if there might be 1.9.2 and then give it a try again.

Have the same issue and have done 3 clean installs following every step. Rolled back to earlier version 1.8.1 and it doesn't work either. Did the first beat update and that one works but want all the new stuff if I'm going to start playing. Added excemption to AV but still a no go.

I am also having this problem. Sometimes verifying the install fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes a reinstall fixes it, sometimes it doesn't. Yesterday I reverted to 1.8.1, then updated back to 1.9.1 and it worked. Today, I'm right back to the same infinite loading screen.

Can everyone still seeing this reveal what antivirus app(s) you have please?

However regardles sof the cause it's hard to see why it would come and go, for some people at least!

I just booted up for this morning and still got the infinite spinning Loading Save Game. But the full downgrade to 1.8.1 immediately followed by re-updating to current seems to work every time now. I work in software support, but it's way past the coding level. Good luck with whatever is going on here because I absolutely don't get it.

I'm on Windows Defender. It's completely up-to-date and both Battletech and Steam are white listed. I'm completely baffled.
Specifically in the Ransomware Apps Allowed Through list?
