I think it would even be a challenge for a usa player at this point to drive the axis into the sea at all, let alone rebuild the navy, crush the axis fleets and counterinbade. It would take years to do that.

Not exactly Fortress America, is it?

It seems that Washington doesn't know how to cope with two fronts at the same time---

The game AI is designed to address needs of competing fronts with assessement of theatre requirements, but the staggered offensives may catch the AI out of position -achieving dislocation or surprise.

The loss of Uranium from Elisabethville has slowed down our nuclear program, so we plan to get it back. Although now are already creating a nuclear bomb, it is always prudent to have the fissionable material and deny it to our enemies. We ask for the Portuguese and South Africans (from the South) and the Belgians (from the North) to attack Elisabethville and the mountainous provisional capital of the British, Mpika. Nonetheless, the British are a government in exile, probably hiding somewhere in the States...

I really like the Yugoslavs. As the Dutch, they have been rather helpful in certain enterprises. Here they invaded Yemen, trying to stop the British and Americans from retaking the Southern Arabia and bringing down the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Another big uprise in Ireland, but we have enough guard forces to put it down.

We are being attacked as we prepare to take Guadalajara. I think we must use paratroopers to secure the city. Nonetheless, our ambush seems to slow them down enough.

You are getting a remarkable amount of relevant help from the minor allies, without (if I understand corrrectly) having to set all their objectives .

Indeed, as mentioned several times in this AAR, I would have never made it without certain steadfast allies I had. If one excludes the majors (Italy and Japan), I really appreciated the interventions of the Dutch, the Portuguese, and the Yugoslavs. I was kind of dissappointed by the Spaniards, to be honest. Although they did help cleaning up the last colonial remnants in Western Africa, I did not see them anywhere else.

The proof-of-concept of this AAR has always been to try and achieve: a "diplomatic" victory for Germany! Although the HOI3 engine was not ideal, I think we managed to achieve it. Many great allies and then equalize the war capacity handicap the Axis historically had. Unrealistic? Dunno. As I always said in this gamethrough, I wanted to envision these Germans as less "fanatic", more calculating warriors. As if Bismarck's spirit of gains-and-losses was ever present! :)

Finally caught up again. Great AAR! Seems you do not need nukes or V2s, the U.S. A.I. is so confused by your overall plan, that it must be having a big Rodeo and Barn-dance somewhere around Fort Leavenworth.

Civilian to soldier: "How come you boys are not fighting on one of the fronts?"
Private Billy Joe Bob: None of dem <ahem> Generals knows what needs doin'. Might as well eat BBQ and slam some suds." :)

This is the usual "worst-case scenario": our blitzing troops shock the enemy, perhaps marching a bit too far too quickly, and get ambushed. Still, we are so much overwhelming our rivals in means and numbers, that there is really no contest. Especially when facing the puny Canadians!

We decide to jump the gun and land two paratrooper divisions in the heart of Guadalajara. Although they get important losses, they are set to get a foothold in the city, given that the Americans further North don't dare to reinforce them, considering they are a lost cause. In that also helps the pounding with air-to-ground attacks.

We know that the Mexican government is in its last breaths, ready to abandon the country in exile.

The Americans hop in to help with the Irish insurrection. This thing reminds a lot what happened last time in Scotland, where a British revolt was helped with American means and almost got the country back. We cannot allow this risk again, now that we are so close to the final victory. We bring two divisions (one fast) to Belfast to deal with this.

In Central-Western India our troops have to fight again with the small but tireless forces of Bhutan. Thankfully, they easily dispatch them. The Royal Division is actually a shell. They even have to scavenge for their supplies...:p

The Bismarckian path has carried through well.

Yugoslavian ground forces with Italian naval support invading Yemen, excellent! An annoying uprising in Ireland to be squashed quickly, and are those Soviet troops in India?

The fall of Guadalajara signals the end of hostilities with Mexico as its government abandons the country and flees. Their armed forces stop all resistance and although they don't fight for us, they give us enough intel about all American movements in their territory, except for Baja California. The US forces on Mexican soil will now have a hard time getting supplies, unless they remake contact with their own ground.

The fall of Mexico is the go-ahead to assault the capital of the USA as well. 5 divisions, circa 35000 experienced troops in total, are attacking Washington DC which is only lightly defended, as it seems. Valiant Iraqi allies help the unique Guard division still standing.

Mexico is down and with is collapses the US southern flank. If the German army is quick she can press into Texas and/or link up with her Japanese allies and seize the initiative once and for all. Good work.

I expect that the loss of Washington chocks up many VPs, although the loss of the District of Columbia at the time would be much like the old West Germany losing Bonn - unfortunate, but not like losing a city of the first or second rank or of strategic importance. A forgivable mistake, given that in European countries the capital and the city of most importance are usually one and the same. Have to admire the Brazilians for exiling their government to Brasilia in the middle of nowhere/

DC is only one VP in HOI3.

They are certainly doing their thing so far. They have landed a lot of troops in Alaska and Southern California, which leaves my troops there a free hand. Indeed, with the fall of Mexico I decided to promote my roleplayed General Koch-Erpach of the 2nd Armee (hero of the campaign in Mexico). I gived him a promotion to Field Marshal and assigned him to the Pacific HQ.

Given that there it is Japan territory anyway, he is free to move his troops further North of San Francisco to attempt the conquer of Portland, Seattle, and eventually Vancouver.

The first mechanized SS detachments have broken the perimeter of D.C. as the Iraqi allies are fleeing. It is only a matter of time before the capital of the USA falls to our hands. We learn that the entire US executive has already left the city.

With the fall of the city, the Americans lose their last important naval base further South. US and French units, probably the last battle-worthy elements in the Allies' arsenal are being met by ours.

Even Irish (Allies) and Colombian (Axis) units are caught in the middle. Both sides have damaged ships and losses, but it is the Allies that have to flee yet again. Our combined air and sea superiority by now is overwhelming.

The Mexican HQ (under AI) is making its way Northwards! 160000 men on a front from Arizona to Texas!

11secs4.jpg

The American HQ (under AI) is responsible for the Northeastern Theater. The Americans seem to have moved their capital to Chicago, but their national unity is so low, we might not need to get there before Mr. Roosevelt and his cabinet completely crumble...

The Canadians are putting their own valiant defense as well, but how can they stop our superiority now?! Circa 334000 men are pushing against the Lakes...
