Byzantium Events...
By 1533, the Byzantine emperor worried greatly to the fate of the Roman Empire, as the Caliphates influenced grew with each passing day in the Rum lands. The fall of inner Anatolia, and the loss of many important forts in the region sent alarms among the people of the second Rome.
A noble by the name of Eugustus Giovani, a Byzantine noble of Genoese decent urged the empror to go on the offensive and raid Caliphal cities close to the Byzantine border.Of course the empror feared that such an action would ignite a war he was not ready to face, but pressure from the nobility to fight the Turkish menace was too irresistable...
Raid the Turkish lands! (triggers the Caliph's missive)
Another time Eugustus....
The Caliph's missive
The Caliph of Baghdad, furious at the audacity of the Romans on raiding his western domain, sent a missive demanding the subjegation of Byzantium to the Caliphate,by sending the Ragila, and a formal apology , not to mention recompensating the Caliphate for her losses. It was an insult for Byzantium, but a weighty one....
Send a formal apology!
Bah bastard, tell the dog of Islam that we will have none of this!(triggers Ionian war- population loss and stab hits, and CB but no "real war" )

Battle of Yinni Shahar of the Ionian War
