Being able to have game rules about names in a game where names supposedly change with circumstances is great. Now I dont need to see Republic of X on every country late game (if there is a revolution mechanic at all).

Is this feature generic enough to allow modding/adding in expansions name options for other countries?

Either way, it's still a welcome change even though I couldn't care less about the name for it. Giving the player more option to customise their experience is the way to go.

Maybe they should make the option a straight up text field. That way you can name them anything you want. The real hardcore Byzantium fans can name them "Empire of the Super Saiyan Godlike Romans".

I gotta ask - will Middle Eastern tags have dynamic names based on the ruler dynasty name? Or it is set as definite name for the tag? So like if Ottomans would lose an heir of Ottoman dynaasty and get, let's say Mustafid heir. Will the country name change to "Mustafids" once he will ascend to the throne?

Instead, you'll have people arguing about whether "Eastern" should be in the name or not (as has already happened on this very thread).

Because if you do something, do it right. What's the point in naming it "Eastern Roman Empire" when:

1. it wasn't used in that time, so naming it like that is as anachronistic as "Byzantine Empire" (replacing wrong name with a wrong name)
2. it makes no sense since there is no "Western Roman Empire" in the game
3. it also uses an additional word which is simply unnecessary and wastes space

Should we call France "West Francia" then?
