Even though I generally prefer Byzantine Empire as a name, I think the whole interaction Johan has with the community, is simply amazing.
Sometimes small things like this option matter a lot, presumably a lot more for some people, when it comes engaging the users here and the morale on the forums.

I don't have intense feelings on Byzantium's name. But I'm very happy about the design philosophy behind this, giving players options to have the game their way when there are easy to code issues that mean a lot for some of them, even if meaningless for others, or possibly even against the devs' personal preferences. And like others have already said, I like how community feedback is affecting the development.

I'd prefer something like "Empire of the Romans" or simply "Roman Empire", because "eastern" doesn't make much sense. In order to have "eastern" Roman Empire we need a "western" one which, at this time, was long gone.

Thank God (and Johan). Now hopefully we don't have to get a bunch of threads asking why the Byzantine's aren't called the Roman Empire in-game.
