That's strange. I just tried taking the colorscales.csv from CORE and copying it over the one in vanilla, and it worked. The colours change (an easy way to notice that is ocean colour). The political colours won't be the same, because country.csv hasn't been changed, but the game is using a different colour palette. To get the political colours to be the same as in CORE, you have to edit country.csv.

Why you need to edit country.csv:

Vanilla
Code:
country;main color;leader language;ArmyNationalitySprite;END
MIN;Brown;ENG;MIN;X
ENG;LightRed;ENG;ENG;X
FRA;Blue;FRA;FRA;X
GER;Gray;GER;GER;X
HOL;LightYellow;HOL;MIN;X
POR;DarkGreen;POR;ENG;X
ITA;Green;ITA;ITA;X
SOV;DarkRed;SOV;SOV;X
SPA;DarkGray;SPA;GER;X

C.O.R.E.*
Code:
country;color;leaderlanguage;ArmyNationalitySprite;END
MIN;LightRed;ENG;MIN;X
ENG;DarkOrange;ENG;ENG;X
FRA;LightBlue;FRA;FRA;X
GER;Gray;GER;GER;X
HOL;Red;HOL;MIN;X
POR;DarkGreen;POR;MIN;X
ITA;LightYellow;ITA;ITA;X
SOV;DarkBrown;SOV;SOV;X
SPA;DarkYellow;SPA;MIN;X

Notice the second column. (At the same time, pay no attention to what it says. The names of colours have very little ground in how they actually display)

* - the CORE file is alphabetically sorted. This was edited to be in the same order as the vanilla entries for ease of comparison.

Silly question: are you sure your HOI shortcut is pointing to where you think it is? :)

I copied all of the above and it worked like a charm after editing the country.csv file. However... I still don't understand why copying over the whole country.csv from CORE woudn't effect the political color changes. I keep wondering why in the heck I have to edit the Vanilla-HOI country.csv manually. Any hints? More importantly, how can I get the USA color in CORE (kind of a dark, khaki green) to be present in Vanilla HOI?

Thanks so much again for responding to my inquiries.

Good question to ask since you never know. However, my HOI shortcut is pointing to the correct folder/installation of HOI 1.06b.

Go to the CORE forum. This is vanilla HoI. It's not too difficult to tell the difference...

What he said, although i'll try to be a wee bit more polite (shouldn't be too hard), and i'll even move you there

Personally, I don't use spritepacks and install the sprites from the all-sprite package on a one by one basis. Also, my Polish sprite pack is not yet ready, so I can't recommend you anything. Try the Stony Road and install the ones you like.
Cheers

Hello

I've recently tried the latest CORE (1.06c + 0.84) and I'm setting up a MP game.

While the mod itself is a piece of gold, I can't help but to strongly dislike most of the new graphics.. especially the countries' colors in political map mode. The other things like harbors and such are nice.

I'm wondering if it is possible to use the vanilla graphics (at least for country color), and if this will work in MP unless the other players do the same.

Any help appreciated

EDIT: I just removed CORE and installed again without graphics files, so now only one question remains: will me not having the graphics installed cause problems if other mp players have them?

Without experience in that regard, I must say it is unlikely to cause problems.

I thought so. Thanks. :)

Ship sink graph
When types of ships (BB, CA, Submarines, Transports...) destroyed, that all type of ship skins (navy fleet) which destroyed ,was changing to transport skin and with ''Transport unit type'' in graph was sinking.
In HOI game can't change ''Sinking of Transport'' after destroyed BB, CA or it is a bug?

C.O.R.E. Sprites

So i am playing C.O.R.E., which ever version that got shipped out with HOI platinum, and no matter how much research I go as the Sovite Union, my aircraft sprite never updates past a pre war bi-plane. Is there some where I can dl a better sprite for Soviet aircraft, is there any kind of special ones for C.O.R.E., and can I use a sprite for different mod in C.O.R.E.?

The C.O.R.E. mod intentionally left sprites out (except for a militia sprite) due to download size concerns and problems with model structure compatibility but you can get some very good sprite downloads elsewhere. Check out the graphics modding forum here Paradox (link) or visit Stony Road.

An Idea for a Change of the Graphics of the Econ Screen

I don't know if this would be possible, though I suspect it is. Currently there is no way that I know of to differentiate between provinces that are 1) national 2) annexed 3) occupied. With the exception that you can't deploy units to an occupied province. But knowing the status of a given province and hence it's real potential IC output is key in making decisions about whether and how to upgrade it. My suggestion would be to color code the three types in the Economic Screen, which currently has light and dark green to indicate whether or not a province can upgrade. Maybe light and dark 1) green for national 2) blue for annexed and 3) red for occupied. Other colors would work, those just seem to make sense to me.
