Did you buy it seperately or as part of a multi-pack of other games?

Are you saving a copy of the patch to your harddrive and then running the patch program from the hard drive or are you trying to run the patch direct from the internet?

The problem may be that the default install folder for the patch is not where your game is installed. If so, you need to point it to the correct folder when you install it.

Any answer to my question?

When you run the installer after it starts extracting you should get a window that says "Locate your current EU2 installation" and has a "Destination Folder" box with a browse button next to it. Make sure that destination folder is where you installed the game from the CD.

Thanks, I will give it a try.

You should also answer Castellon's question:

That's probably not the best way to go about it.

Save it to your hard drive, and run it from there. For one, it will save you the hassle of downloading it again when you, for whatever reason, need to re-install ;)

Running from the internet has caused problems in the past.

I saved it to my hard drive and ran it from there. No luck. As an experiment, I tried downloading 1.07 from the the Internet as I did before and had no problems whatsoever. I still have 1.08 on my hard drive. Any suggestions?

Click on Start - Search.

in the search for file names put EU2.exe
Select all your Harddrives to search.

How many results show up and in what folders are they?

I got two results:

One in C:\ It was created on 11/20/05 at 2:42 and is 2,300 KB.

The second is in C:\Program Files\Strategy First.. It was created on 11/20/05 at 2:39 and is 2,268 KB.

Both say they are File Version 1.0.0.1.

Sorry, I forgot to mention I also found the following:

EU2EXE-2FD2ED19.pf It is located in C:\Windows\Prefetch

Hmm, sounds like you have multiple installs.

So what happened when you ran 1.08 from your Harddisk?

Nothing. It looks like it successfully ran but when I pull up the game it says I have version 1.00. What I don't understand is why I don't have any problem downloading 1.07 but every time I try to download 1.8 nothing happens.

Okay please differentiate between downloading and installing, since it is very confusing if you do not.

Downloading = Taking a copy from a website and saving it on your hard drive.
Installing = Running the program and having it update your game.

So you are saying that when you install 1.07 and then run the game the version number displayed changes to 1.07 but when you Download and then install 1.08 the version number does not change?
And further that this is 1.08 and not 1.08B that you are trying to install?
