I installed prison architect from the epic games launcher because it was free. upon attempting to launch, I got an error. I looked into other threads and nothing worked, so is there something special I have to do for the epic games version?

That is not a launcher problem, so the launcher logs will not help us. Please update your video driver from your vendor's website:

To see the AppData folder you'll need to enable View Hidden Items in File Explorer.
AND DXDIAG is a program you run from the Windows search box on the task bar. After running it will open a window and start collecting info with a progress bar in the lower-left corner. When it completes click the 'save all information' button and save it to a file then attach that file here.
But then you see it goes on to get past that error:
Did you run the Epic client as the Windows Admin user, before starting the game from it? That gives the launcher installer extra rights to install and run.

I also can't play Prison Architect, but I could play it when I downloaded it, but today there was some update to is and now I can't play it for some reason. When I click to play it from Epic Games library, it says first, running, then cloud syncing, then running again, sync then it asks me to Launch it again, and again and again. I uninstalled it and then installed it and same again. I don't know why it does this, it worked perfectly first time. Today it won't work.

Some issues also, game is lauching but still on black screen with only background music.
Everything is up to date, tried several time to reinstall & i did launch epic store in admin mode.

I don't actually see any significant errors in there. If you run Prison Architect64.exe directly from File Explorer, what happens? Any Windows error show?
And can i get the dxdiag.txt i asked for please?

when I click directly from the file explorer nothing happens, the file explorer stays open and that's it. here's the dxdiag.txt:
The game is crashing in your nVidia driver:
Please try this:
- uninstall that driver and all other nVidia software
- reboot
- install the latest (Dec 2021) from here:

I don't know what is causing this to you, I am sorry. There's no sign of the problem cause in the files you've sent in.
Do you have access to any other computer to try this game on? This is to confirm it's an issue with this machine, somewhere.
Go to installation folder \PrisonArchitect\Launcher
Run the "launcher-installer-windows". It will reinstall the launcher.
Run the game via Epic game launcher. It will now download a launcher update. Restart the launcher. Bingo

What exactly are your symptoms? Do you see our launcher but the game will not start from it, or you never see our launcher?
What happens if you run Prison Architect64.exe directly?
No obvious cause of this issue in there. Can I get a dxdiag.txt too please?
And what antivirus app do you use? Add Prison Architect64.exe to the exceptions list of your antivirus app; ESPECIALLY if you have Windows Defender, add it to the Ransomware "Apps Allowed Through" list.
I can no longer play the game either. I used to play without problems but today it decided to crash.It crashes seconds after getting into the main menu.
