I haven't seen lately people take any of the military-educations for their maincharacters. I am wondering wether there should be some discount for taking military education for the main-character? E.g. with a military education the main-character would get Valorours for 0 points, or get 2 points (instead of 1) for taking Coward?

Martial educations have one big fault, they never add anything to stewardship. Fortune Builders and Midas Toucheds are by far most common education for main character. Ecclesticals are even more uncommon than Martials, so I think the system is fine as it is.

Btw, some traits have been changed in betas, so they might need some revisits. For example currently Indulgent is +1 health now and Temperate -1 health, so both should perhaps go into 0-point category again?

Ah, I had missed that. Yes, they definitively should, because they then cancel out the positive/negative of each trait.

EDIT:First post edited for Temperate and Indulgent

Jarkko wants me to post my question here, so here it goes : ;)

Why can you only have two traits, where is the logic in that? Reason is I made a char for a game that suits me RP guy. And I am within the total of 4 points in traits? I don't see what the bad thing is about my char being Proud, sceptical, lustful, honest, merciful and suspicious considering my education of int_web.?

The reasons:

1) Usually the starting characters made by these rules are about 17-20 years. By that time most characters "grown" in the game have 1+2 traits.

2) Even though a trait is worth 0 points does not mean they are worthless, but being of so little advantage that a point cost is not valid. By stacking several 0-point traits you can (as in your case) stack (as your example clearly shows) up on benefits.

3) The rules were made so that it would be possible to create balanced characters, not maximising on skills and attributes and then claiming "This is valid RPing because I say so." which we (the pioneers of MP character modding) run into at the very first such MP campaign.

Fear not Devil, practise has shown that your character will have quite a few additional traits when he is 40 years older, and gaining them and roleplaying them is much more RP-demanding :)

Arbitrary should at least, but I don't think those Ruler Commits Cruelty events make Cruel bad enough to be -1 points.

Agreed, first posted edited accordingly.

But it gives piety and generally improves relations.

1 periodic piety in either way is hardly significant though, considering that base monthly increase is 0.5, where periodic 1 is -0.1.

Btw, Chaste could move into negative trait area, it's -2 fertility anyway...

Cruel and forgiving will stay in the 0 points, because I think they do have both positive and negative effects to somewhat balance it out.

Chaste however will go to -1. If it had fertility -1 only it would stay in 0, but -2 is rather bad.

Opinions on Reckless, should it still stay in -1?

Imo no, it gives prestige now, which is quite nice to lower tier characters.
Exactly my thoughts. So Reckless goes to 0.
